  • Waterproofing techniques used in underground structures do not reflect material and construction environments, but rely only on material properties, which inevitably lead to their limits in durable life. In particular, the government intends to investigate the current underground water treatment method and analyze the problems in order to prevent serious corrosion and aging of structures caused by underground water leaks and poor construction.

  • This study introduces and demonstrates the application of an experimental regime for anti-seismic performance evaluation of waterproofing materials to used for concrete pile walls. Concrete pile walls are subject to high degree of seismic load, and the occurring stress can affect the waterproofing integrity of the structure, but there is currently no existing methodology or standard for evaluating this property of waterproofing materials. To propose and conduct this evaluation, a new testing apparatus was designed and manufactured intended to be able to test an installed waterproofing material's seismic resistance performance.

  • At a time when the recent earthquake in Pohang, Korea requires the need for seismic performance design not only for concrete structures but also for construction materials used in construction structures, the possibility of applying the seismic performance design of waterproof materials constructed in the form of direct or partial adhesion to concrete structures in the underground Single-side walls section was confirmed.
