디젤엔진에서 DMC를 사용한 경우의 배기가스의 농도분석에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Analysis of Exhaust Gas Concentration by Using DMC in Diesel Engine)

  • Recently, Our planet is faced with very serious problems related to the air pollution due to the exhaust emissions of the diesel engine. So, lots of researchers have studied to reduce the exhaust emissions of diesel engine that influenced the environment strong. But most researchers have mainly studied and suggested the solution of reduction on the total exhaust emissions of diesel engine. In this study, the quantities of the low and high hydrocarbon among the exhaust emissions in diesel engine have been investigated by the quantitative analysis of the hydrocarbon C1~C6 using the gas chromatography. This study carried out by comparing the chromatograms with diesel fuel and mixed fuel which are blended the diesel and DMC(dimethyl carbonate)that includes the oxygen of about 53%. The results of this study show that the hydrocarbon C1~C6 among the exhaust emissions of the mixed fuel are exhausted lower than those of the diesel fuel at the all load.

디메틸에테르 연료를 사용하는 3.3리터 디젤기관의 배기성능 개선 (Improvement of Emission Performance in a 3.3 Liter DI Diesel Engine by Using Dimethyl Ether Fuel)

  • A study is improvement of power and emission in a inline-pump Dr diesel engine by using Dimethyl ether Fuel. Dimethyl ether (DME) is an oxygenated fuel with a cetane number higher than that of diesel oil. It meets the ULEV emission regulation and reduces the smoke to almost zero when used in a diesel engine. But NOx emission is almost same and CO, THC emissions are lower than that of diesel engine. The emissions aren't satisfied the stronger emission regulation in the further. Generally DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst) is used to reduce CO & THC emissions and EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system is used to reduce NOx emission. Test results showed that the torque and the power with DME were almost same as those of pure diesel oil, but the brake thermal efficiency increased a little. also the BSEC (Brake Specific Energy Consumption) with DME was similar that of diesel. The test results showed that the DOC was the vary effective method to reduce the CO emission in case of Dimethyl Ether Fuel in diesel engine. But, THC emission is showed a little reduction rates. Also EGR system was the very effective method to reduce the NOx emission in case of Dimethyl Ether Fuel in diesel engine.

대형 DME버스의 연비 및 배기가스 특성에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study of Fuel Economy and Emission Characteristics for a Heavy-Duty DME Bus)

  • 본 연구에서는 대형버스 배기가스 테스트 모드인 JE-05 에서 DME와 디젤을 연료로 사용하는 대형 DME버스를 차대동력계, 배기가스 분석기 그리고 PM 측정시스템을 이용하여 대형 DME버스의 연비, 배기가 스특성 그리고 동적 특성에 대해 알아보았다. 대형 DME버스에는 6기통 8,071cc 디젤엔진이 장착되었으며, 현재 운행되고 있는 상용 디젤버스와는 달리 DOC, DPF와 같은 후처리 장치가 없다. 실험 결과, 각 부하에 따른 차량의 속도를 통하여 차량의 동적 특성은 DME와 디젤을 사용했을 때 거의 비슷한 것을 알 수 있었다. NOx, CO와 THC는 DME를 연료로 사용 시 디젤연료에 비해 더 적게 배출되는 것을 확인하였다. 하지만 PM은 DME연료를 사용 시 거의 발생하지 않았는데, 이는 DME가 함산소연료이고 분자구조상 탄소-탄소 결합이 없기 때문이라고 생각된다. $CO_2$는 각 연료 사용 시 비슷하게 발생하였으며, 저위발열량 베이스로 계산된 연비는 DME연료 사용 시 디젤연료보다 약 6.7% 더 낮게 나왔다.

디젤기관의 대체연료로서 DEE의 연소 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Combustion Characteristics of DEE as an Alternative Fuel in Diesel Engine)

  • Nitrogen oxides(NOx) and smoke emissions of diesel engine are regarded as a source of air pollution, and there is a global trend to enforce more stringent regulations on these exhaust gas emissions. However, the trade-off relation of NOx and smoke is a main obstacle to reduce both of them simultaneously. In this paper, experiments were conducted with an oxygenated fuel(diethyl ether) as an effective way to improve the trade-off relation of NOx and smoke. Exhaust emissions of diesel fuels with DEE were influenced by the additive content of DEE and the injection timing. Especially, DEE effected more at the high engine speed and load than at the low engine speed and load. Diesel fuel blended with DEE 10% was a desirable blend for the simultaneous reduction of NOx and smoke.

  • 대기오염에 관한 관심은 국내 외에서 점진적으로 상승하고 있으며, 자동차와 연료분야 연구자들은 청정 (친환경 대체연료) 연료와 연료품질 향상 등을 이용하여 새로운 엔진 설계, 혁신적인 후 처리 시스템 등의 많은 방법으로 차량 배기가스를 감소시키려고 노력하고 있다. 이러한 연구들은 주로 배출 가스 및 가솔린 차량의 PM 입자 배출 두 가지 이슈로 진행되고 있다. 자동차의 배출가스 및 미규제 물질, PM (입자상 물질) 입자는 환경오염과 인체에 악영향을 주는 많은 문제를 일으키고 있다. 자동차 배출가스의 주요 물질인 입자상 물질은 작은 입자로 구성된다. 이러한 작은 크기 때문에, 흡입된 입자는 쉽게 폐 깊숙이 침투 할 수 있다. 이 입자의 거친 표면들은 대기중에서 다른 독성 물질과 결합하기가 쉽다. 따라서 입자흡입의 위험을 증가시킨다. 함산소 연료첨가제 유형 (MTBE, 바이오 ETBE, 바이오 에탄올, 바이오 부탄올)에 기초하여, 본 논문은 가솔린 자동차 배출가스 및 미규제 물질, 나노입자 배출에 산소함량의 영향을 토론하였다. 또한, 본 논문은 두 가지 시험모드를 사용하여 배출가스 특성을 평가하였다. 시험모드는 FTP-75 및 HWFET 모드이었다. 전체 측정항목에서 배출가스 규제 값보다 적게 배출되고 있는 것을 볼 수 있었고, 산소함량이 증가하면서 측정항목에 따라 증감이 다름을 알 수 있었다.

디젤기관의 배기 배출물 중 가스 크로마토그래피를 이용한 탄화수소분석에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental study on Analysis of Hydrocarbon of Exhaust gas Using Oxygenated Fuels by Gas Chromatography in Diesel Engine)

In this paper, the quantities of the low and high hydrocarbon among the exhaust emissions in diesel engine have been investigated by the quantitative analysis of the hydrocarbon $C_1{\sim}C_6$ using the gas chromatography. This study carried out by comparing the chromatogram with diesel fuel and three kinds of mixed fuels. One is the diesel fuel blended DGM(diethylene glycol dimethyl ether) 5%. Another is the diesel fuel blended DEE(diethyl ether) 25% and DMC(dimethyl carbonate) 10%. The results of this study show that the hydrocarbon $C_1{\sim}C_6$ among the exhaust emissions of the mixed fuels are exhausted lower than those of the diesel fuel at the all load and speed.

농용 디젤기관에서 매연과 NOx의 동시저감에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Simultaneous Reduction of Smoke and NOx in a Agricultural Diesel Engine)

  • In this study, the potential possibility of oxygenated fuel such as Methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) was investigated for the sake of exhausted smoke reduction from diesel engine. MTBE has been used as a fuel additive blended into unleaded gasoline to improve octane number, but the study of application for diesel engine was incomplete. Because MTBE includes oxygen content approximately 18%, it is a kind of oxygenated fuel that the smoke emission of MTBE is reduced remarkably compared with commercial diesel fuel. But, the NOx emission of MTBE blended fuel is increased compared with commercial diesel fuel. And, it was tried to analyze not only total hydrocarbon but individual hydrocarbon components from $C_1$ to $C_6$ in exhaust gas using gas chromatography to seek the reason for remarkable reduction of smoke emission. Individual hydrocarbons($C_1$~$C_6$) as well as total hydrocarbon of oxygenated fuel are reduced remarkably compared with diesel fuel. And, the effects of exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) on the characteristics of NOx emission has been investigated, too. It was found that simultaneous reduction of smoke and NOx was achieved with oxygenated fuel and cooled EGR method.

커먼레일 디젤엔진에서 DME의 연소 및 배기 특성 (Combustion and Exhaust Emission Characteristics of DME in a Common-rail Diesel Engine)

  • An experiment was conducted with a common-rail direct injection diesel engine operated with neat dimethyl ether (DME). In order to investigate the effect of combustion characteristics and emission reduction of DME fuel, the experiment was performed at various injection pressure from 35 MPa to 50MPa. Also, the exhaust emissions from the engine were compared with that of diesel fuel. In this work, Cooled EGR was implemented to reduce $NO_x$ exhaust emissions. The results showed that DME has shorter ignition delay than that of diesel fuel. Despite of the increased $NO_x$ emissions with DME at an equal engine power compared to the case of fueling diesel, the engine emitted zero soot emissions all over the operating conditions in this work. $NO_x$ emission can be decreased greatly by adopting 45% of EGR while maintaining zero soot emission. Judging from the result of engine test, DME is a suitable fuel for common-rail diesel engine due to it's clean emission characteristics.

The results of this study show that the hydrocarbon $C_1\simC_6$ among the exhaust emissions of the mixed fuels are exhausted lower than those of the diesel fuel at the all load and speed. In particular, high boiling point hydrocarbons such as $C_5$ and $C_6$ were reduced remarkably in high speed and load region.

  • In this study, the effects of oxygen component in fuel and exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) method on the exhaust emissions has been investigated for a D.I. diesel engine. It was tested to estimate change of exhaust emission characteristics for the commercial diesel fuel and oxygenate blended fuel which has five kinds of blending ratio. Dimethoxy methane(DMM) contains oxygen component 42.5% in itself. and it is a kind of effective oxygenated fuel for reduction of smoke emission. It was affirmed that smoke emission was decreased with increasing of DMM blending ratio. But, NOx emission was increased compared with commercial diesel fuel. It was needed a NOx reduction countermeasure that EGR method was used as a countermeasure for NOx reduction. It was found that simultaneous reduction of smoke and NOx emission was achieved with DMM blended fuel and cooled EGR method($10{\sim}15%$).
