Hot-water extract from selected medicinal herbs of diabetes prescription was mixed with brown rice and pearled barley flours and extruded to prepare a reconstituted grain for diabetes millitus patients. Even though the cooked reconstituted grain containing medicinal herb extract was somewhat different from cooked ordinary rice in textural properties measured by texture analyzer, it was estimated to be organoleptically acceptable in sensory parameters. The reconstituted grain added with medicinal herb extract reduced the rate of dialysis of glucose evaluated by in vitro dialysis experiment. The effects of reconstituted grain diet on blood glucose levels in diabetes patients were studied during 3-week period. Compared to normal diet, the reconstituted grain diet for 2 weeks significantly decreased the fasting and 2-hr postprandial blood glucose levels in diabetes patients by 14% and 10%, respectively. These results suggested that the reconstituted grain could be used as an effective therapeutic diet for the control of diabetes mellitus.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of herbal medicine that are used for endometrial hyperplasia. Methods: We searched on three databases [PubMed, China national knowledge infrastructure (CNKI), and Oriental medicine advanced searching integrated system (OASIS)] with keywords for Endometrial hyperplasia(English, Korean, and Chinese) and evaluated the risk of bias. Meta-analysis was performed on the selected studies. Results: 15 RCTs were finally selected. According to the analysis, Most of the participants were endometrial hyperplasia without atypia. And the combined therapeutic effects of hormonal medicine and herbal medicine were statistically significant (RR 1.21 [95% CI 1.15, 1.28], P<0.00001), The endometrial thickness tended to be thinner when treated combined therapy. And they also showed improvement on levels of pictorial blood assessment chart (PBAC) and hemoglobin. Also, the therapeutic effects of herbal medicine can be identified as similar to Western medicine, and no superior effects have been confirmed (RR 1.05 [95% CI 0.87, 1.28], P=0.60). Conclusion: The combination Western and herbal medicine was more effective than Western medicine alone treated for endometrial hyperplasia without atypia. Moreover there were also significant improvements in endometrial thickness, PBAC and hemoglobin levels.

This study aimed to report the improvement in a vascular oculomotor nerve palsy patient treated with Korean medicine. A 68-year-old man with vascular oculomotor nerve palsy was treated with acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and an herbal medicine (Gangwhalyufung-tang). This case was measured and assessed by the numerical rating scale (NRS), EuroQol-5 Dimension Index (EQ-5D), score of diplopia, and ratio of MRD1. The NRS decreased, and the patient showed improvement in EQ-5D, score of diplopia, and ratio of MRD1. Korean medicine treatments are considered helpful in treating diplopia and ptosis due to vascular oculomotor nerve palsy.
