Purpose: The purpose of this study is to report the improvement of tracheal granuloma after herbal medicine treatment. Methods: A patient with tracheal granuloma was treated with Sipyukmiyuki-eum, and we checked laryngoscopy images to observe the improvement of this condition. Results: After treatment with Sipyukmiyuki-eum and Korean medicine therapy, we found that tracheal granuloma showed improvements in the laryngoscopy image. Conclusion: This case suggests that Sipyukmiyuki-eum might be effective for patients who develop tracheal granuloma after tracheostomy. However, additional studies with more patients are required to verify this finding.

The purpose of this study is to report the effects of Korean medicine treatment in wrist drop patient with thoracic outlet syndrome. We treated the patient for 8 days using Korean medicine treatment such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, Chuna manual therapy and pharmacopuncture. Changes in the numerical rating scale (NRS), EuroQol five dimension (EQ-5D) index, and symptoms were measured for assessment. After 8 days hospitalization, NRS decreased from 5 to 3, EQ-5D index and the symptoms of the patient also were improved. In conclusion, this case shows that Korean medicine treatment can be an effective treatment for wrist drop with thoracic outlet syndrome.

Objectives: This study reports on the improvement of anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor encephalitis with ovarian teratoma after Korean medicine treatment. Methods: A patient was treated with Korean medicine treatments, such as acupuncture and herbal medications (Gami-ondam-tang and Samulanshin-tang-gamibang). The patient's improvement was evaluated using manual muscle testing (MMT), the Mini-Mental State Exam-Korea (MMSE-K), the modified Barthel index (MBI), and the Clinical Assessment Scale in Autoimmune Encephalitis (CASE). Results: After using Korean medicine treatments, the patient's MMT, MMSE-K, and MBI scores increased, and the CASE score decreased. Conclusion: This case suggests that Korean medicine can be effective in treating the symptoms of anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis.

Meralgia paresthetica is a rare femoral disease and various symptoms appear such as pain, numbness, and paresthesia in the anterolateral thigh due to entrapment of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. We treated the meralgia paresthetica patients with Korean medicine treatment including herbal medicine, acupuncture, Chuna manual therapy and pharmacopuncture during 12 days. Numerical rating scale (NRS), Euroqol five dimension (EQ-5D) index, and the changes of symptoms were measured for assessment. After 12 days inpatient treatment, NRS decreased from 7 to 4, EQ-5D index and the symptoms of the patient also were improved. In conclusion, this case shows Korean medicine treatment might be an effective treatment for Meralgia paresthetica.

The purpose of this study is to report the effects of Korean medicine treatment in baastrup's disease. We treated the patient for 34 days using Korean medicine treatment such as acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, herbal medicine, Chuna manual therapy and help motion style acupuncture treatment. Numerical rating scale (NRS), EuroQol five dimension (EQ-5D) index, Oswestry disability index (ODI), and lumbar range of motion (ROM) were used as evaluation tools for the state. NRS decrease from 5 to 3, and EQ-5D index, ODI, L-spine ROM were improved by the treatment. In conclusion, this case study shows that Korean medicine treatment can be effective for baastrup's disease.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy of using Korean medicine treatment with post-concussion syndrome. We primarily treated the patient's post-concussion syndrome during hospitalization (22.04-22.11.11) with Korean medicine treatments (herbal medicine, acupuncture, and Chuna therapy). The KHIT-6 and Numeric Rating Scale were used to assess symptom (headache, dizziness, and nausea) changes. Following treatment, the patient's KHIT-6 and Numeric Rating Scale scores decreased. This study suggests that Korean medicine may be effective in the treatment of post-concussion syndrome.

본 논문은 강원도 W시 지역에서 한방병원 개원의 경제적 타당성 평가에 관한 사례를 연구한 결과이다. 먼저, 한방의료와 관련된 수요와 공급을 파악하기 위하여 진료권내 한방병원과 요양병원 현황, 그리고 S대학 부속 한방병원의 진료실적을 바탕으로 진료권으로 설정된 W시와 인근지역의 인구추이를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 진료권의 한방의료 수요는 이미 의료서비스를 제공하고 있는 S대 한방병원에 의해 충족되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 수요측면에서 한방병원 병상규모의 적정성을 평가하는 것은 의미가 없다고 판단되어 "일반수련병원"과 "전문수련병원"지정기준에 적합한 50병상과 70병상 규모로 나누어 각각의 병상규모에 대한 경제적 타당성을 평가하였다. 각각의 병상규모를 운영하는데 필요한 진료과와 인력을 산정하고 인건비를 추정하였다. 그리고 경영수지분석을 위한 투자계획과 손익분석 결과, 50병상 및 70병상 규모로 운영하는 경우, 예상되는 환자수는 수련병원 인정기준을 초과하였지만 의료손익은 개원 1차년도 부터 매년 손실이 발생하는 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서 결과적으로 본 연구의 대상인 W시 지역에서의 한방병원 개원은 경제적 타당성이 없는 것으로 판명되었다.

The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Korean medicine on a squamous cell lung cancer patient with chemotherapy induction peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). A 61-year old male patient, who had received 4 cycles of chemotherapy after lung surgery from squamous cell lung cancer, was treated with acupuncture and herbal medicines, including Uchasingi-hwan and Samchilchoongcho-capsule, to control CIPN and dyspnea on exertion. The degree of pain was assessed by a numeric rating scale (NRS). After receiving acupuncture and herbal medicines, the NRS score for CIPN symptoms was reduced from 4 to 1 and the NRS score for dyspnea on exertion decreased from 3 to less than 1. Korean medicine could therefore be useful in reducing peripheral neuropathy occurring after chemotherapy and dyspnea after lobectomy.
