As part of efforts to deal with the decrease of a school-age population in Korea, Korean universities and colleges are endeavoring to attract foreign students. Chinese students, the largest share of foreign university students in Korea, are becoming an important element at Korean universities and colleges. Chinese students face various kinds of difficulties while trying to cope with new environments in the country. This study aims to analyze the impact of academic factors and psychological factors of Chinese students on the level of adaptation to university life and their satisfaction with it. Data on 128 Chinese students attending D University located in Busan were collected and a path analysis was conducted using partial least squares (PLS) regression. Research results are as follows. First, professors as an academic factor and the level of interest of university staff have significant impact on the level of adaptation to university life while Korean language proficiency does not have significant impact on the level of adaptation to university life. Second, homesickness as a psychological factor is correlated to the level of adaptation to university life with significance while acculturative stress is not correlated to it. Third, the level of adaptation to university life is correlated to the level of satisfaction with university life. Based on these findings, the significance, limitations and future directions of this study are discussed.

From September 2015 to May 2016, on the subjects of 175 Chinese international students, their first aid knowledge, education needs and self efficacy were identified using structured questionnaires. As a result, only 5.4% of Chinese international students received first aid education in Korea. Their knowledge of first aid was 0.16 points out of the total 1 point and self efficacy was 2.60 points out of the total 5 points. Also, the educational needs of the subjects were relatively high at 3.37 points out of the total 5 points. In conclusion, it is said that it is necessary to develop a first aid education program to raise the knowledge level and self efficacy of first aid for Chinese international students, and to meet their education needs. To increase the effectiveness of first aid training programs for Chinese international students, it is necessary to strengthen education contents of areas where knowledge and self efficacy were low and education needs were high in program development, and the group of subjects with low knowledge level and self efficacy are required to have special care and attention.

  • An academic library is one of the largest information sources for international students to obtain learning resources, which have a great impact on their studies. However, most academic libraries currently have not provided adequate multilingual services except English, which makes it difficult for international students whose mother language is not English to perform academic work. Accordingly, the present study defines the customized services for international students as the ones that have been supported in ltiple languages among academic library services and aims to examine their effect on user satisfaction in academic libraries. Furthermore, the study has compared international students' satisfaction with academic libraries - one that provides appropriate customized services with the other that does not. The surveys have been conducted with Chinese international students in two different universities and a total of 138 responses were analyzed. The study found that the customized services for the international students influenced their satisfaction with library use. In particular, multilingual services had positive effects on satisfaction with services such as brochures/signs, access to and use of resources through the homepage, and user instruction. The findings of the study suggest practical insights on how academic libraries provide effective services for supporting international students' academic tasks.

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the effects of university foodservice quality attributes on Chinese students' satisfaction, as well as the mediating effects of perceived value on the relationship between foodservice quality attributes and satisfaction. A total of 250 university students in Daejeon were surveyed, and 216 responses were returned. Excluding responses with significant missing data, 196 responses were used for data analysis. The reasons for using university foodservice were 'meal plan' (37.8%) and 'time saving' (22.4%), whereas the reasons for not using university foodservice were 'untasty food' (33.2%) and 'limited menu selection' (27.6%). Results confirm that enhanced performance of food quality, service quality, sanitation, and convenience had favorable effects on perceived value and satisfaction. Further, perceived value had a significant positive influence on satisfaction. In analyzing the mediating role, the effect of foodservice quality attributes on satisfaction was partially mediated by perceived value.

Thus, it is expected to verify relationship between current SNS use tendency of Chinese students and their settlement in Korea based on analysis on the factor influencing SNS use of Chines students. For the study on the factor influencing to SNS use of Chinese students in Korea TAM model was used as a research frame. Based on TAM theory technological attribute, individual attribute and social attribute were taken out as independent variables. Perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness are applied as mediator variables. In research conclusion, some hypotheses are adopted the same as existing theory, but some hypotheses for example service quality and individual attribute are rejected as variables which influence positively to mediator variable perceived easy of use. For the next research more various variables and nationwide sampling will be needed. Based on this research it is expected to be analysed correlation between foreigners settlement in Korea and communication media like SNS.
