  • This study's purpose is a search for the conceptual variety of media education. For this purpose, media education's surrounding is used to search by two of view. First view is about the condition of media education that includes an advent of new media, consumer's attitude change to user and variety of educational change. And then the variable paradigm of media education are viewed how it is connected with the theories of media with time. Change of surrounding and theoretical variety tell us why concept of media education should be revised. So, in this study, many scholar's definitions of the media education are regarded. From the rally stage of education for the television, the media education's definition has formed as new field. After that, media education expanded to the media literacy as communication competence with an advent of new media. This means that media education would be variably extend to verbal media education, critical interpretation of the contents and communication with community.

  • In teaching probability and statistics classes, we should increase efforts to develop examples that enhance teaching methodology in delivering more meaningful knowledge to students. Sports is one field that provides a variety of examples and World Cup Soccer events are a treasure house of many interesting problems. Teaching, using examples from this field, is an effective way to enhance the interest of students in probability and statistics because World Cup Soccer is a matter of national interest. In this paper, we have suggested several examples pertaining to counting the number of cases and computing probabilities. These examples are related to many issues such as possible scenarios in the preliminary round, victory points necessary for each participant to advance to the second round, and the issue of grouping teams. Based on a simulation using a statistical model, we have proposed a logical method for computing the probabilities of proceeding to the second round and winning the championship for each participant in the 2010 South Africa World Cup.

  • Rooted in the work of Pierre Bourdieu, the cultural intermediaries have recently developed as a focus of attention for the Anglo-saxon sociology of culture and cultural studies. This paper tries to critically examine the debate around the definition and role of cultural intermediaries. It also explores the applicability of the notion ‘cultural intermediaries’ to a changing digital mediascape. In the first part of the paper, I clarify the critical problematics inherent in the Bourdieusian conception which focuses on the function of cultural intermediaries for the ‘production of the belief’ in cultural goods. Consequently, I draw attention to the mediation and transformation process of ‘legitimate culture’ by critics in mass media as ‘new cultural intermediaries’. In the second part, I attempt to constitute a typology of cultural intermediaries, proposing the notion of ‘on-line cultural mediation’ and ‘on-line cultural intermediaries’. I also outline the characteristics of three different types (‘traditional’, ‘new' and 'on-line') of cultural intermediaries. I argue this new conception of cultural intermediaries can help to understand the complex power relations and their transmutation in various cultural fields under digital environment.

  • Despite the widespread use, critics claim that citation analysis has serious limitations in evaluating the research performance of scholars. First, conventional citation analysis methods yield one-dimensional and sometimes misleading evaluation as a result of not taking into account differences in citation quality, not filtering out citation noise such as self-citations, and not considering non-numeric aspects of citations such as language, culture, and time. Second, the citation database coverage of today is disjoint and incomplete, which can result in conflicting quality assessment outcomes across different data sources. This paper discuss the findings from a citation analysis study that measured the impact of scholarly publications based on the data mined from Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar, and briefly describes a work-in-progress prototype system called CiteSearch, which is designed to overcome the weaknesses of existing citation analysis methods with a robust citation-based quality assessment approach.

  • Since the 1990s, informetrics has grown in popularity among information scientists. Today it is a general discipline that comprises all kinds of metrics, including bibliometrics and scientometrics. To illustrate the dynamic progress of this field, this study aims to identify the structure and infrastructure of the informetrics literature using statistical and profiling methods. Informetrics literature was obtained from the Web of Knowledge for the years 2001-2010. The selected articles contain least one of these keywords: informetrics', bibliometrics', scientometrics', webometrics', and citation analysis.' Noteworthy publication patterns of major countries were identified by a statistical method. Intellectual structure analysis shows major research areas, authors, and journals.

  • Expert system implementation of human expert's diagnosis in art psychotherapy requires extensive knowledge on: (1) characteristics in a drawing; (2) psychological symptoms in a client; (3) relationships between the characteristics and the symptoms; (4) decision process; (5) knowledge elicitation and aquisition methods. Experts from many different fields provide such knowledge, ranging from art therapists who is on the spot, psychiatrists, psychologists, artists to knowledge engineers who know how to implement the decision system to a computer. The problems that make the implementation difficult are the expert's complex decision process and the ambiguity, the inconsistency and even the contradiction in the huge volume of the knowledge. Modeling the expert's decision process, we develope a framework of the system and then analyze and classify the knowledge. With the proposed classification, we present a suitable method of knowledge elicitation and aquisition. Then, we describe the subsets of knowledge in a unified structure using the ontology concept and Protege 2000 as a tool. Finally, we apply the system to a real case to show its usability and suitability.

  • Metamorphic evolution of the Ogcheon metamorphic belt has been studied by many investigators for the past few decades. P-T conditions of the Ogcheon metamorphic belt were estimated as 4.2-9.4 kbar and $490-630^{\circ}C$, corresponding to the medium-pressure type. In addition, the clockwise P-T-t path suggests a crustal-thickening event in association with the formation of thrust nappes. However, some details on deformation and orogeny of the Ogcheon metamorphic belt have been ambiguous yet. Although the metamorphic age has been also equivocal, recent isotopic studies strongly suggest that the peak metamorphism in the Ogcheon metamorphic belt has occurred at ca. 300-280 Ma between Late Carboniferous and Early Permian. It is thus inferred that the Ogcheon metamorphic belt and the Taebaegsan basin have evolved as separate terranes and that both were sutured at ca. 250-220 Ma. These results are partly in contrast with those of previous workers and require a revised framework for tectonic evolution of the Ogcheon belt. In addition, it is likely that the Ogcheon belt is correlative with the Hida marginal belt and the Hida metamorphic belt.

  • Many researchers and advertisers have approached point of purchase advertising in various ways. Visual analysis. an overemphasis of design concept. or simple classification have usually dominated these reports. However. for point of purchase advertising to be considered a part of marketing strategy. its effectiveness can be more clearely analyzed. What is the most appropriate situation to effectively use point of purchase advertising\ulcorner Which category of product is most sensitive to point of purchase advertising\ulcorner Moreover, what is the relationship between point of purchase advertising and impulsive buying\ulcorner These questions will hopefully be addressed in this paper. First of all. before tackling these issues, former research on point of purchase advertising need to be classified. Also we will show how modern technology has been affected point of purchase advertising. Section6 will discuss the relationship between impulsive buying and point of purchase advertising. Finally, successful examples of point of purchase advertising in the U.S. will be introduced to support the conc] usion.

  • This research analyzes the elementary school mathematics curriculum in Korea in accordance with the teaching units devised by the German mathematics pedagogue, Wittmann(1984). Teaching units, a systematic teaching content organized according to the 4 elements of objectives, data, functions, and backgrounds, helps educators and professors plot for the systematic organization and structural understanding of the materials necessary in teaching. This research presents the extracting process of teaching units step by step based on the 2007 revised mathematics curriculum and also demonstrates the new alternative method to analyze and review the entire education courses through it. Teaching units is not immutable, but rather pursuing and developing a model that consistently through the constant complementary efforts by the research experts. On that account, many researchers and field professors continuously devote their efforts to develop and innovate it so that it can be practically used as an essential tool to establish a new mathematics curriculum.

  • The purpose of this research is to increase understanding about 'an attitude' and to develop the contents of the reading attitude survey questionnaire through the analysis and comparison of reading attitude models. An attitude has an individual's perception and feeling about events, problems, people or things, and it also includes the state prepared for reaction. An attitude consists of emotion, cognition and behavior and it is formed by experience, learning or value judgment. Reading attitudes are composed of cognitive factors that represent beliefs or opinions about reading, emotional factors that represent evaluation and emotion about reading, and behavioral factors that represent intentions or behavior to reading. The analysis of the components of the reading attitude models shows the fact that the influencing factors of reading attitude formation are the reading experience, beliefs of reading results, beliefs about others' expectations and reading environments. Thus, the contents of reading attitude survey questionnaires should include such contents as reading experience, beliefs of reading results, beliefs about others' expectations, and reading environments.
