전자저널의 컨텐츠는 출판사의 서버에 디지털파일로 축적되어있으므로 출판사의 사정에 따라 또는 자관의 구독취소 결정에 따라 접속이 중단되는 사태가 발생할 경우 종전의 전자저널 구독분까지 이용할 수 없어 결과적으로 장서가 소실되는 결과를 가져오게 된다. 일부 출판사에서는 과월호 컨텐츠를 수록한 CD를 제공하여 이를 보완하고는 있으나 소장매체의 수명이 한시적일 뿐더러 출판사에서 계속해서 상당한 비용이 소요되는 과월호 컨텐츠 보존을 수행할 지 또한 의문이다. 이 연구는 선진 외국의 사례를 바탕으로 전자저널 컨텐츠의 영구보존에 관한 국내 도서관의 적절한 대처방안을 모색하고자 하였다.

한국출판학회(회장 남석순)는 최근 문화체육관광부 후원으로 제14회 한 중 출판학술회의를 개최했다. '전환기 시대에서 한 중출판정책의 현황과 방향'이라는 대주제 아래 진행된 한중출판학술회의에는 총 8편의 연구논문이 발표됐다. 본지에서는 왕핑 중국신문출판연구원 중국 서적출판사 사장이 발표한 '디지털 출판시대의 중소형 전문출판사'를 요약 게재한다.

In order to find out the relationship between the indicator of scholarly impact and e-Journal usage in Korea, we analyzed the correlation between the usage statistics of e-Journals published by American Chemical Society, Science, Elsevier and Wiley which was licensed by KESLI consortia in 2006 and impact factor in JCR 2006. We selected 4 universities and 5 research institutes as target institutions which participated in all of the 4 consortia and had higher frequency of e-Journal usage than others. In this correlation analysis we used variables such as the subjects of journals, the types of institution, and impact factor.

국내 35개 단행본 출판사들을 대상으로 실시한 95년 하반기 출간계획 설문조사 결과 올 하반기 출판사들은 문학물보다는 실용서 등 비문예물을, 국내 저작물보다는 번역서를 다수 기획하고 있는 것으로 분석됐다. 특히 새로운 독자층으로 급부상한 직장인과 가정주부들을 겨냥한 실용서의 출간이 급증할 것으로 보이며, 학술분야에서는 '총서' '신서' 등의 시리즈물 발간이, 아동물에서는 교양과학서의 출간이 두드러질 것으로 예상된다. 예술서적들의 장르 다양화와 전반적인 소량 다품종 체제로의 변화 움직임도 하반기 출판계의 커다란 특징이다.

Research libraries have been facing serials crisis, that is the difficulties in providing information which caused by high and rapidly increasing cost of scientific journal subscriptions. This economic problem resulted in the imbalance between scholarly Publication and library resources. University libraries recognized that the commercialization of research information is at the core of the economic problem. This paper analyzes the trials and suggestions of faculty, universities, and professional societies in the United States to reforming scholarly communication system to take back intellectual property from commercial publishers and to improve scientific information exchange.
