  • In the modern academic research environment, the advancement of digital technology provides researchers with increasingly diverse and rich access to information, but at the same time, the issue of author identification has emerged as a new challenge. The problem of author identification is a major factor that undermines the transparency and accuracy of academic communication, potentially causing confusion in the accurate attribution of research results and the construction of research networks. In response, identifier systems such as the International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI) and Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) have been introduced, but still face limitations due to low participation by authors and inaccurate entry of information. This study focuses on researching information management methods for identification from the moment author information is first entered into the system, proposing ways to improve the accuracy of author identification and maximize the efficiency of academic information services. Through this, it aims to renew awareness of the issue of author identification within the academic community and present concrete measures that related institutions and researchers can take to solve this problem.

  • Recently collaboration network is generated to find out experts in their field as potential collaborators in health care sector. In this paper, the co-author network of a National Cancer Center researcher was generated for identifying each researcher's role and collaborative research pattern. The co-author network of 2,437 authors was extracted from 1,194 SCI(E) publications from 2000 to 2010 and author's role was analyzed by author's centrality value. Centrality reflecting only the number of papers and centrality weighted by the paper number, impact factor, and authorship contribution was evaluated. On the comparison with simple degree centrality value and the weighted degree centrality, difference of value was statistically significant(t=11.66, p=0.00). Co-author network considering various variables of the paper provides more objective figure of researcher's role. This suggests that co-author network could be more effective in identifying potential collaborators.

  • This study aims to analyze the research trends of English-language journals in Korean studies published in Korea. Data were collected from four English journals in Korean studies indexed in A&HCI and SCOPUS. A total of 1,840 were selected, including 768 articles of the Korea Journal, 466 articles of The Review of Korean Studies, 285 articles of the Seoul Journal of Korean Studies, and 321 articles of the Acta Koreana, in connection with content analysis, author analysis, author keyword frequency analysis, and topic modeling. In results, the domain research of Korean studies is Humanities, followed by Social Science, and Arts and Kinesiology. These three sectors have grown significantly in publishing numbers since 2000. The subject period of the study is in the order of the modern period, late Joseon, and Japanese colonial period. Authors from domestic affiliations made up 73.34% of the total, but the proportion of authors belonging to foreign institutions continued to increase. As for author keywords, 'Korea'(41), 'Buddhism'(20), 'Koreanwar'(18), and 'Joseon'(18) were derived as top keywords. In topic modeling, six topics were identified; 'Korean culture, cultural transmission,' 'Korean modern political history,' 'Korean social democratization process,' 'Japanese colonial period,' 'Korean religious philosophy,' and 'Korean ancient history.' Through this study, it was possible to identify the interests in and research areas of the recent international academic community of Korean studies.

  • In the many countries including United States, numerous librarians participate as research project members and publish papers in related/non-LIS journals. In recent years, the quantity of papers published by librarians in LIS journals and the non-LIS journals is similar. This study analyzed whether librarians join the research team in various academic fields in South Korea, carry out the research together, and publish the papers in co-authorship. This study collected and analyzed 319 articles of the authors affiliated with libraries published in the last 10 years from the Korea Citation Index. As a result, there were not many articles published by the authors in the non-LIS journal. Nonetheless, specific examples of librarians collaborating closely with other disciplinary research teams were observed; Medicine, Architecture, Materials Engineering, etc. Librarians' contribution in research projects in South Korea is expected to increase in the future. Therefore, it is desirable to prepare for this such as opening courses on research projects in the library and the department of LIS which is training librarians as well.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze academic papers published by North Korean scientists, to uncover major areas of research in North Korean science and technology, and to uncover the intellectual structures that underlie these science and technology. Through quantitative analysis, it is to find out who the main research actors are, what research areas are being dealt with, which research areas last a long time, which areas have been discontinued, and which research areas are receiving new attention. In order to detect major research areas and intellectual bases in North Korean science and technology, North Korean scientists' articles were collected from WoS (SCIE). CiteSpace, a scientific quantitative analysis tool, was used to identify major research areas based on author simultaneous citation analysis. The main research areas in North Korea are found to be material properties, vibration analysis, incline matrice, sodium cointercalation, and external magnetic field.

  • This study aims to analyze research topics within the domain of archival studies by examining bibliographic information from academic papers in archival science, library and information science, and history. After collecting 1,173 academic papers, network analysis was performed based on author keyword data, topic modeling was conducted from abstract data, and the analysis results were organized over time. The network analysis results based on author keywords confirmed that the research topic network actively changed according to variations in major laws and policies. Moreover, topic modeling from the abstract showed that the subjects of the entire academic paper were divided into "Records Management," "Archiving," and "National Records Policy." Notably, from 2002 to 2009, "Records Management" and "National Records Policy" were relatively dominant, but it has achieved balanced quantitative growth since 2009, peaking in 2019.

  • OA journal publishing has steadily increased its relative share of all scholarly journal articles by about 20%-30%. The 'Gold' OA, often preferred by readers, refers to journal articles which are more widely available through the journal's web site immediately. This study analyzed funder and university's policy for paying APCs in implementing a Gold OA. In recent years there have been a number of attempts in the UK and Europe to stimulate more systematic arrangements for paying APCs, leading funders have clearly established arrangements in place. Also OA fund made by major universities in North America provides publisher with APCs. On the other hand, it is still in early stages in paying with gold OA requirements from Korean funders and universities. The funders have a 'Green' OA policy, such as upload the article accepted version to their online platform. Although it varies by field, many Korean authors are publishing in international journals. Their articles' impacts would rise when they are published as gold OA. Therefore, funders and universities need to pay attention to gold OA publishing and set up subsidies for APCs which are required by OA or hybrid journal publishers.

  • This research aims to analyze domestic articles related to entrepreneurship and elicit implications for future research. To this end, bibliometric analysis was conducted for the authors and titles of 1,887 articles published in the Korean Citation Index between 1997 and 2016. First, in the author analysis, Dae Yong Chung, Bong Sik Bin & Jeong Ki Park, and Sung Sik Bahn were noticeable in terms of the number of articles, the number of citation and the formation of the researchers' network. Second, in the title analysis, the characteristics of entrepreneurs and education in entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial strategies and case studies, the empirical analyses regarding entrepreneurial performance, investment in startups, and Korean IT companies were found to be the most active research fields. The results of this study can be used in selecting co-researchers and exploring research areas in the future.
