  • The purpose of this study is to find new material for developing teaching and learning materials for the gifted class of elementary school students by using the rotatable tangram made by modifying the traditional tangram. Rotatable tangram can be justified by gifted students through mathematical communication. However, even gifted class students have some limitations in finding and justifying triangles and rectangles of all sizes unless they go through the 'symbolization' stage at the elementary school level. Therefore, students who need an inquiry process for letters and symbols need to provide supplementary learning materials and additional questions. It is expected that the material of rotatable tangram for the development of teaching and learning materials for elementary school gifted students will contribute to the development of mathematical reasoning and mathematical communication ability.

  • This study aimed to explore the problem in curriculum development in school-based gifted program in the arts and suggest the way to solve that. For this study, we surveyed 28 teachers and guest instructors, furthermore interviewed 6 teachers (4 in music and 2 visual arts). The study results indicated that not only curriculum development of school-based program for the gifted in the arts was not systemic, but also most teacher depended excessively on guest instructors due to the lack of expertise and information for curriculum development. Also, They did not understand specific meaning of the giftedness and gifted curriculum in arts nor recognize the unique role of school-based gifted program. In addition, most teachers simply attempted to solve lack of knowledge and experience on a personal level. Their research condition were inadequate to plan curriculum. To solve these problems in curriculum development in school-based gifted program in arts, we suggested some solutions: differentiated teacher in-service program, the achievement criteria for fundamentals of curriculum, system for connecting materials, information and human resources, as well as consultative body for improving the present condition of school-based gifted program.

  • We think that the class homepage can be solution for the problems in the cyber space or on-line community because students can practice activities in the on-line community, communicate with teachers or colleague, exchange opinions with parents and use it for learning. However, students would lose interest easily in the existing class homepage for lack of its immersion elements as compared with the commercial on-line communities. The class homepage needs to have immersion elements to reach its purpose. It is one of the solutions to use the avatars. Therefore, we studied on the influence of the avatars as the immersion of the elementary class homepage and the students cyber-self. As a result, we knew that the avatars can act enough as immersion element to achieve construction purpose of the class homepage and that use avatar helps in affirmative cyber self formation of elementary students.

  • It is a general tendency that a traditional class management system is operated by teachers' arbitrary decision. However, at the present day, it is needed that both students and teachers make an autonomy standard manual and manage the class by themselves in order to cultivate the qualified democratic citizen. Therefore existing class management systems do not meet present classes with diversity. In this paper, we design a new web application framework using REDIS(Remote Dictionary System) for class management. REDIS is a kind of data repository to store various key values and also generally provides a solution of developing web applications with shared memories. We designed a web application framework to maximize both convenience of use and accessibility. The scalability of the class management system can be effectively enhanced using diverse template functions which are basically provided by the framework.
