Teachers, parents and students have regarded teacher librarians as a book keeper who doesn't participate in teaching. Consequently teacher librarianship has not satisfied occupational function and qualities of professional workers and teacher librarians' vocational presence appears to be very frail because of school library policies ignoring teacher librarians appointment, the law and system identifing librarinship with teacher librarianship. But its ultimate cause is Library and Information Science Community's attitude of sideliners that doesn't holding teacher librarians oriented preparation programs for their instructional qualification. Thus it is essential for the members of academic communities to recognize teacher librarians as an educational media specialist and develop various curricula in order to strengthen the occupational status of teacher librarians. Also it requires that teacher librarians improve his/her individual ability with self evaluation and increase activities of their professional institutions.

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the reading status of middle school students in S region based on the national reading survey in 2021 and to suggest a plan to promote the creation of a reading culture. To this end, we conducted a reading survey of 695 middle school students in S region for two weeks from July 5, 2022 to July 19, 2022. In addition, by comparing and analyzing the national reading survey, problems in the reading survey of middle school students in S region were identified, and the necessity and plan for revitalizing the reading culture were presented. The measures to activate the reading culture are as follows. First, a method to improve middle school students' reading volume was sought. Second, various ways to activate reading clubs were suggested. Third, the necessity of supplementing the one-book reading program per semester was suggested. Fourth, a communication plan between the school library and students was presented. Fifth, the need for various reading guidance and reading programs for middle school students was recognized.

This study was conducted to compare and analyze trends in research on reading ability. To do this, collecting articles searched for 'reading ability', a keyword network analysis was performed based on the author's keyword. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the terms were used interchangeably in studies related to reading education at universities. In the study related to reading ability 1, the main research areas are school library, school librarian, information literacy, self-directed learning, and information service. In the study related to reading ability 2, the main research areas are children's early literacy, related reading difficulty and disability. In addition, studies on reading evaluation are being conducted in both areas, but not much activation has been performed. Studies involving adolescents show limited activity in both areas.

위성영상의 종류가 많아지고 다양한 종류의 수치지도가 생성되고 관리되기 위해서는 지도도서관이 필요할 것이며, 이는 클리어링하우스와는 달리 전통적인 종이지도까지 포함이 되어야한다. 상품화된 GIS 툴에서 제공하는 공간검색의 기능을 개발하여 지도도서관에 활용을 한다면, 지명검색보다 다양한 형태의 자료를 검색하여 비교할 수 있으므로, 데이터베이스에 각 자료의 좌상단, 우하단 좌표가 입력 관리되고, 서버에 모든 자료가 존재한다는 가정하에 사각검색과 원 검색의 원리를 경우에 따라 분류하고 SQL문으로 만드는 원리를 정리하였다. 공간검색을 통한 GIS자료의 다운로드와 생성된 자료의 업로드 기능을 클라이언트/서버환경에서 JDBC를 활용하여 구현하였다. 국가기관이나 학교에서 지도전문 도서관이 전무한 실정이지만, 앞으로의 가능성을 전제로 하여 고지도로부터 관광지도, 수치지도, 위성영상을 활용한 주제도에 대한 관리방법으로 제안한다.

통신체제 및 기술의 발달은 우리 교육에 관한 전통적인 여러 가지 인식체제를 바꾸어 놓고 있다. 앞으로 우리의 교육이 지향하는 이상향은 평생교육 및 학습사회의 실현이라고 할 때 시공간의 한계를 가진 대학교육 이수자들에게 대학도서관 원격봉사제공은 절실히 요구되는 시대적인 요망이다. 이러한 원격교육이 제대로 정착되려면 직장과 사회, 가정, 학교 등이 서로 네트웍으로 연결되어 쌍방향 커뮤니케이션의 다양한 형태로 지식 및 정보들을 서로 공유할 수 있어야하고 이러한 환경을 실현하는데 있어서 원격도서관의 역할은 커지고 있다. 우리나라의 대표적인 정규학위과정 중심대학인 한국방송통신대학교에서 원거리수강자에게 제공되고 있는 대학도서관 봉사의 현황을 조사하여 원격도서관의 효율성을 높이기 위한 제언을 한다.

This study looks into how hearing-impaired college students use libraries and what their information needs are in order to prepare basic materials which would be applied for developing a library service program and others proper enough to be used by the hearing-impaired college students. In order to achieve the research goal, the study gathered data from a total of 155 hearing-impaired college students through a survey and interviews and a frequency analysis, a cross validation, a t-test and a one-way ANOVA were conducted to analyze the data. At the end of its research, the study confirmed that the hearing-impaired college students' gender, years, degrees of disability, schools, specialties and prosthetic appliances would make significant differences in how the students use the libraries. In addition, the study took a look into differences in the hearing-impaired college students' information needs caused by types of the students' prosthetic appliances, schools and degrees of disability and found out that these types of the prosthetic appliances the students use would significantly affect every category of their information needs. The study now also understands that both the schools and the degrees of disability would make significant differences in a few categories of the information needs, and the former influences education and promotion targeting users and arrangement of sign language interpreters while the latter affects education and promotion targeting users and improvements in browsing environments.

This study investigated the copyright problems in the course of distance teaming. The Copyright Act of Korea is built to protect the rights of authors and the rights neighboring on them and to promote fair use of works in order to contribute to the improvement and development of culture. However, for efficient use of library's materials for distance education, some articles in the Copyright Act of Korea is needed to be changed. We suggested the revision in the article 23 “Reproduction for the Purpose of School Education” and the article 28 “Reproduction in Libraries, etc”.

The present study tests the effects of library use on adolescents' civic competencies for democratic citizenship in a Korean context. Utilizing data (N=1,386) from the National Youth Policy Institute (2006), the study performed multiple regression analyses to test the association of library use of adolescents with the levels of civic competencies for democratic citizenship. Teenagers' library use had a positive significant association with cognitive civic competencies while showing a negative significant association with behavioral dimension of civic competencies. Based on the findings, the author discusses policy implications for developing library service for youth.

This study aimed to analyze library anxiety among international users in various aspects and make suggestions for alleviating library anxiety. Subjects were 'international users using the academic library' not only including international students but also including international professors and researchers to analyze library anxiety in various aspects. S university with most international users was selected for the study, and the surveys were distributed. The questionnaires completed by 369 international users were analyzed. The overall average of library anxiety among international users is 2.96, and 'knowledge of the library' appears to be the greatest source of library anxiety among international users. An analysis revealed that variables including status, nationality, library instruction, the reason for using the library, Korean proficiency, and cultural understanding contributed significantly to the library anxiety level. Based on these findings, recommendations for library service, staffing, environment, and resources were made to help alleviate library anxiety.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that hinder the role recognition and role performance of teacher librarians and suggest some improvement methods. For this purpose, a questionnaire was conducted among 41 persons who participated in the first-level qualification training for teachers librarians at K University Secondary Teacher Training Institute in 2019.The results showed that there was a difference between the expected role and the execution role of the teacher librarians. In other words, teacher librarians recognize that they should teach information literacy as instructors and operate library-based instruction and cooperative classes as teaching partners. However, the most frequently played roles are reading education and library use education. They recognizes the cause as institutional limitations, such as the absence of a national level curriculum and the ambiguity of the role of specialists in school libraries. And it is perceived as a real problem such as the lack of partnership and recognition of their peers. Among the variables of teacher librarians, the higher their educational level, the more they perceived their peers as teachers. Based on this, some suggestions for strengthening the role of the teacher librarians' instructor and teaching partner were proposed in terms of including cross-curricular subjects of information literacy education, analyzing jobs and establishing scholarship system for school libraries.
