교육인적자원부는 2002년 '학교도서관 활성화 종합방안'을 발표한 이래 매년 학교도서관 활성화 사업을 분야별로 평가하여 우수사례를 발굴ㆍ포상해오고 있다. 2004년에도 약 40여개의 학교가 우수학교로 선정되어 수상을 하였으며, 2004년 12월 3일(금) 제주도에서 개최된 '2004 학교도서관대회'에서는 8개 학교의 우수사례 발표 시간도 마련되었다. <도서관문화> 도서관탐방팀에서는 8개 학교 중 어디를 가보면 좋을까 고민하던 중 쉽게 만나기 어려운 사서교사 근무 도서관을 발견하고 한달음에 달려갔다.

환경(공간)은 예외 없이 존재의미를 규정한다. 학교도서관은 더욱 그러하다. 청소년기의 학교도서관이 그 존재 자체만으로도 도서관의 존재에 대한 일반적 의미 이상인 이유도 거기에 있다. 즉 학교안에 도서관이 있기 때문이다. 특히 초등학교 도서관의 의미는 더욱 각별하다. 학교도서관은 담임선생님이나 교장선생님의 존재보다 더 훌륭한 인류의 스승들, 즉 위인들의 모습들이 간직되어 있는 곳으로, 한마디로 말해 어린이에게 그곳은 위인의 전당이고 어린이 철학의 요람이기 때문이다. 많은 어린이들이 그곳에서 자신의 미래를 꿈꾸고, 자신도 모르는 사이에 어린이 철학자가 되기 때문이기도 하다.

The domestic and foreign standards of school libraries suggest that school library should be run to give useful and pleasant experiences to students. This study applies Csikszentmihalyi's 'flow theory' to analyze the relationships between students' flow experience and their satisfaction about school libraries use. The variables selected in this study are students' satisfaction, flow experience, library skill, challenge of library use, types of library use and students' learning styles. The research model is designed by using these 6 variables in this study. The data are collected from 293 students and analyzed by structural equation modeling. The results of this study are as follows: The entire casual relationships show that library skills influence in types of library use, types of library use affect students' learning styles and students' learning styles influence in satisfaction through flow. To improve students' satisfaction about school library use, this study proposes effective ways related to teacher librarians' role performances to expand students' flow experience and increase their library skills.

The purpose of this study is to develop evaluation index for school library in order to find ways to continue the improvement of school library by examining deficient areas and developing necessary areas, in which almost every school have libraries as a result of school library promotion project for last five years. To fulfill this, the research analyzed 2009 evaluation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism(MCST), policy research evaluation index of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology(MEST), BSC product index of school library from preceding research, school library evaluation standard of Korean Library Association (KLA), two-phased base plan and school library promotion law of school library promotion of the MEST and evaluation index of municipal/province education agency of MEST, and thereby developed 54 evaluation index from 8 areas. The research ultimately presents 48 evaluation index from 8 areas. Also, analysis result was first verified by school library experts to increase credibility of the evaluation standard of the research. Based on the result, second evaluation was done by school library faculty staff, and thus went through two-phased verification process.

필자 이덕주 선생은 서울시사서교사협의회와 서울중등학교도서관교육연구회 사립학교 담당 총무, PC통신 하이텔네에 있는 작은모임 ‘학교도서관을 사랑하는 사람들’의 대표를 맡고 있다. 학교도서관에 대한 오해에는 학교도서관과 사서교사들의 현실에 대해 정확히 알리지 못한 사서교사들의 책임도 있다고 보아 이 글을 썻다고 한다. -편집자주

The purpose of this study is to construct the school library consulting supervision model and to develop the evaluation indicators of school libraries in Korea. Individual School library should contribute from school educational objectives to national level educational objectives. When school libraries have accountability, consulting supervision and evaluation for the school library education is needed. School library consulting supervision model was developed with seven components. School library evaluation index is proposed with seventy-two indicators in six categories. Results of the evaluation will be able to take advantage consulting supervision.

The study is to suggest the roles of school library professionals upon changes of school libraries according to the 7th Korean Educational Curriculum. With this purpose, it investigates the policies and current status of allocations of school library professionals, and the interview of non-regular librarian about works. The study also compares job understanding of teacher-librarians, teachers managing school libraries and that of non-regular librarians in school libraries. It suggested the desirable roles of school library professionals.

This study examines the effect of the absence of a government support policy on the development of school libraries. Specially this article focuses on the rise and fall of school library in 1960's over the making first Library Law. It is meaningful that our school libraries, which have been alienated due to the lack of government polices, are not following in the footsteps of the past, as they are in need of state support.

본협회는 작년(1963) 제2회 도서관대회의 학교도서관부회를 부산에서 개최한바 있다. 타도보다 비교적 앞섰다는 부산과 경남지방의 학교도서관의 실태를 보고자 G마이 전국에서 학교도서관관계자를 부산에 집결토록한 또 하나의 이유이다. 이지방의 학교도서관이 오늘 남보다 다소 앞설수 있게된 그표면에는 우연이 아닌 교육의 의지가 근간이 되었다. ‘근대적인 개념의 학교도서관’의 기치를 들었든 두분의 교장이 계심을 세상은 안다. 이 두분은 추월영(부산고교장) 선생과 박경원(경남고교장) 선생이다. 본협회 이종문사무국 이 지난 7월초 부산출장시 두 교장선생임을 모시고 지난 날의 회포와 아울러 당시의 실정에 관한 앙케이트의 답변이다. 참고가 되리라 믿어 게재한다.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the three-year results and impact of a school library revitalization project. The data were collected using school library surveys, questionnaires, and group interviews. The analyses particularly focused on examining the impact of library schedules, programs, collections and uses on the school library's academic achievements. The analyses revealed that the school library uses and the recognition of their importance were improved significantly through school library establishment and remodelling and that school libraries could positively influence students' academic achievements, as shown by studies of the U.S. school libraries. Due to the lack of library collections and professionals, however, it is desired to carry out a further research in this area.
