The Effect of Health Consciousness and Playfulness on Intention to Use Tangible Fitness Game: Extended TAM (건강의식과 유희성이 체감형 피트니스 게임수용에 미치는 영향: 확장된 기술수용모델)

  • This research verified that how Health-Consciousness and Enjoyment can have influence on the Technology Acceptance Model(TAM) using Structural Equation Model(SEM) to suggest a Tangible Fitness Game(TFG) acceptance model. First of all, perceived usefulness and ease of use, the core factors of TAM could influence on the intention to use TFG, so the applicability of TAM was confirmed in the context of using TFG. Health-consciousness, defined as some beliefs and interests on the importance of health, was found to have an positive effect on perceived usefulness and have an influence on the intention to use TFG. Enjoyment also influenced on the intention to use through usefulness and ease of use. This research contributes to make elaborate theoretical accounts by verifying some factors influencing on the intention to use TFG using Extended Technology Acceptance Model.

  • This study attempted to identify differences in user experience and app game fun, satisfaction, use intention between fitness app games at different level of interaction design. The playtesting method was conducted on 100(male 50, female 50) university students using 'Enjoy Your Fitness', a fitness app game developed by The Center for Health Communication Studies. The results found that more interactive app game is higher in the level of user experience such as fitness accomplishment, flow, and interest. Fitness app game's fun, satisfaction, use intention is also higher on interactive fitness app game. As the study verified that interactive fitness app game had stronger effects in user fitness experience and user experience than general fitness app games through experimental studies, it may contribute to design fitness mobile app game for health improvement.

  • In this study, as a part of practical and customized smart contents development planning research related to smart fitness contents associated with smart wear that can monitor physical activity, we investigated the potential needs for smart fitness contents through research. As a result, the potential needs for smart fitness contents is 'accessibility to use', 'inducement of interest', 'diverse story line' were derived at the stage of 'before exercise', 'Real - time voice coaching', 'accurate exercise posture monitoring', and 'personalized exercise prescription' were derived at the stage of 'during exercise'. At the stage of 'after exercise', 'substantial reward system', 'grading system', 'body figure change monitoring' and 'everyday life monitoring' were derived. At the stage of 'connection to the next exercise', 'triggering exercise motivation', 'high sustainability' wear derived.

  • This study conducted to analyze the difference of perceived benefits, psychological well-being, exercise application attachment, and perceived exercise achievement according to the message frame provided in the mobile fitness game. Repeated Measure Design and Playtest methodologies were used for this research. As a result, when gain messages were shown, all factors were higher than the case of showing loss message. The results of this study emphasize that when persuasion messages need to be presented through a health functional game, gain messages can be more effectively delivered to the users of health functional game than loss messages.

  • Currently, virtual reality technology is actively applied in the entertainment and game fields, and development of professional programs is gradually increasing due to the rapid development of Internet and web technologies. As the current paradigm for healthcare changes from treatment to prevention, it is more important to take good care of it in advance so it doesn't get sick. This paper allows users to monitor the amount of exercise directly after using VR sports games. By using this system, users can exercise more interestingly and manage their own fitness by receiving an analyzed amount of exercise.

  • In this paper, an interface for the physical interactive game based on the exercise movement was designed. The interface which uses exercise motion detects was designed and applied to the physical interactive game. As a result, this application to the contents was made possible by combining the physical movements that involve motility through the training method. Furthermore, accurate exercise motions that correspond to each situation were induced using the game objects. The developed interface is expected to be used in a physical interactive game that incorporates other types of exercises.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the current status and future prospects through the Classification of sports and ICT convergence technology for the health. Sports and ICT convergence technology could be classified into three types-sports and virtual reality, wearable devices, application and platforms. First, the application of virt ual reality technology gives a user the feeling of reality, fun, and flow through the sensing technology. And this was extended to 'Gamification' concept, gamification of the Nike Plus has become a catalyst in the spread of wea rable devices market. Second, the fastest growing sector in the wearable device area is the health and sports. Chin ese and start-up companies as well as global ICT companies is competing for expanding the pool by releasing the fitness-related wearable devices. Third, the building of platform that can utilize the health and exercise-related dat a collected through the application is expanding.
