Development of upcycle fashion design using Picasso's works and deconstructivism (피카소 작품과 해체주의 특성을 활용한 업사이클 패션디자인 개발)

  • This study aims to merge Picasso's expressive elements and deconstructive fashion's formative traits, proposing an upcycle fashion design that fuses artistic and philoso-phical aspects. The analysis of Picasso's Cubism identified qualities like liberating revolution, fluidity of vision, geometric reducibility, complex symbolism, and creative imitation. The analysis of Derrida's deconstructionism revealed expressive traits: uncertainty, intertextuality, différance, and dis-de phenomenon. An upscale fashion design was developed based on six Picasso works featuring women. The design was created using the fashion design software CLO 3D and integrated clothing waste and scrap fabrics as materials.The results are as follows. First, upcycle fashion was viewed from a new perspective based on Picasso and Derrida's values. This perspective suggested creating better ethical values by upholding environmental protection in novel ways that overcome limitations rather than destroy existing values indiscriminately. Second, upcycle fashion design methodologies were derived from various perspectives utilizing formative features of Picasso's works and specific expressive features of deconstructed fashion. Third, the direction of mitigating waste and pollution from clothing production and transportation was revealed by making clothes in a virtual space using the CLO 3D program. This study contributed to obtaining various methods for developing upcycle fashion designs using own methods of Picasso and Derrida to diversify the approaches of upcycling, which is relatively stagnant in disassembling.

  • Picasso and Chanel were the most famous artists of modern art & fashion area in 20th century. It is well known that they have deeply influenced to the current fashion and art. This study is aimed to analyze Channel's works based on the aspects of Picasso's from 1900's to 1930's. There are five common, distinct and formative aspects - flatness, geometry, transparency based on multi-perspective, volume, variety of objects. Their works are based on the simplicity which is expressed by the analyzation, organization, deconstruction influenced by cubism. It is reconfirmed that they gave the general public the new value-functionality-by using the ready-made materials. Nowadays artists model themselves after Picasso and Chanel who made attempt to conversion of ideas, the steady style, the long view, the interchange of other fields and popularization.

Art Mask Converged Design Based on an Expression Method of Cubism (입체주의 표현기법을 활용한 아트 마스크 융합 디자인)

  • Contemporary art make-up is being widely developed in line with the trends of individualization and differentiation departing from basic desires or logical thinking about the desires of human beings who ultimately pursue beauty and experiencing diversified convergence and integration befitting customer needs. Cubism that has been playing a central role at the center of art history in the $20^{th}$ century can act as a good material based on creativity with regard to expression of the art make-up. In this regard, the study was focused on creating new concepts of design and novel areas of expression by combining expressive methods of cubism with art make-up to suggest an art mask. As for a method of the study, cubism and art make-up were examined based on preceding studies, Internet data and technical books, and the expression method of cubism was divided into plural points of view, partition of shape and collage and motivated the works of Picasso for the purpose of art mask-converged design. As a result of the study, it was found out that the expression method of cubism was applicable to the art make-up, and creative art make-up converged design could be generated to make a suggestion. In this regard, it is hoped that further studies will be facilitated and that this study can be instrumental in developing art make-up design.

A Study on works converging Found objects: Focusing on how to mix the media (파운드 오브제(Found object)를 융복합한 작품연구: 매체의 활용방식을 중심으로)

  • Ready-made products produced in the industrialized consumer society after the 20th century have been adopted by artists as a new material called "Found object," and are reinterpreted in a broad sense in their works. The method of giving new meaning using this creates a new paradigm that is expanded conceptually as well as expression style. After Pablo Picasso's in 1912, when the Found object was used for the first time in contemporary art, we examine the development of objects through Dadaism, Surrealism, and Pop Art, and the expression of Found objects in the late 20th century. In this study, the artists and their work are analyzed by dividing it into three types: 'Unprocessed objects', 'Transformed objects', and 'Tenant objects', depending on how the Found object is mixed in works. Through this study, I pay attention to the fact that a work incorporating a Found object not only develops the object materially, but also allows the practice of free concept art to escape from the traditional norms of art.

Recognition of the Nature of Science by Preservice Science Teachers on the Basis of the Atomic Model (원자모형에 기초한 예비과학교사들의 과학의 본성에 대한 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine preservice secondary science teachers' understanding of the nature of science, by using nature of science (NOS) questionnaire on the basis of atomic model, and compare this to pre-studies. 'Understanding of nature of scientific model,' 'Tentativeness of scientific knowledge,' 'Subjectivity in science,' 'Use of inference and imagination,' 'Myths of the scientific method,' and 'Comparison between science and art.' were examined. Preservice teachers showed great comprehension of the tentativeness of scientific knowledge (the orbital model) and the subjectivity in science (the different interpretation about the experiment of particle scattering), but displayed the lowest comprehension of the scientific method. For understanding of nature of scientific model (the atomic model) and the comparison between science (Bohr's atomic model) and art (Picasso's work), preservice teachers brought out a combination of ontological and constructivist perspective and showed the contradictory thought about imagination in science research. In the result of comparison to pre-studies using the NOS instruments contains general terms, represented high levels of agreement about the tentativeness of scientific knowledge by using concrete examples of 'atomic model'. When concrete scientists such as Thomson, Rutherford, Bohr were presented, respondents revealed more informed views about the scientists' research method.

  • The French Belle Epoque is a period where the literary and artistic movement was very activated. The birth of the cubism reflects this atmosphere of the times and the change of paradigm in all fields. The Bergsonism is often designated as one of the important backgrounds of cubism. The problem consists in knowing if Bergsonian ideas gave real influence on the cubist movement and up to what point. Our analysis will show that it is not homogenous and very variable according to painters. In the case of Picasso and Braques it seems be a simple inspiration of Zeitgeist. But the influence upon Metzinger and Gleizes is explicit. The text of 1912, Du cubism, prove their attachment to his thought. The key concept of cubist theory, influenced by Bergsonian philosophy, is the concept of simultaneity. Cubist simultaneity is in one hand a reflection of an artist's psychological experience and the other hand a synthesis of multiple views for grasping the object in itself by the way of conceptual representation. The temporal simultaneity could be identified with the notion of memory, which is a temporal continuity connecting the past to dynamic present. The spatial simultaneity is a juxtaposition of multiple views obtained by the movement around the object. But the dose reading of Bergson's text shows that there is a divergence between the notion of cubist simultaneity and his ideas. The biased interpretation is often, as well as the strict understanding, like the history shows us well, a great source of inspiration and creativity. The cubist mouvement is not far from this case.
