Geometrical Analysis on Parts of Load Limit Valve for Static Structural Test of Aerospace Flight Vehicles (항공우주 비행체 정적구조시험용 하중제한밸브 부품 형상 분석)

  • Free body diagram analysis is done for key parts of pilot stage of LLV (Load Limit Valve) which is used to protect overload for static structural test of aerospace flight vehicle. It is shown through the analysis that diameter ratio($D_2)^{ten}/D_2)^{comp}$) of two poppets in a pilot stage must be equal to piston area ratio($A_{comp}/A_{ten}$) of a hydraulic actuator for making a poppet open consistently at constant force applied by an actuator. The result of the analysis is verified by measuring geometries of the poppets in the four different LLVs which are corresponding to four actuators with different capacity and have been used after being imported in this laboratory. Results of "Adjuster resolution tests" with two different pilot stages show the max. deviation of Fi(actuator force in instant of opening poppet) from average Fi obtained for each turn of adjuster is 0.3KN and max. deviation of the Fi normalized by average Fi of each turn of adjuster is 3.7%. From the results, it is verified that the two pilot stages with same poppet diameter ratio make a poppet consistently open at Fis within ${\pm}3.7%$ deviation from the average Fi. The deviation is shown to be caused from frictional force of O-ring in the poppet. Additionally, design factors for poppet spring and adjuster, which are also key parts of the pilot stage, are distinguished and procedure for deciding the factors are also shown in this study.

Effects of intake flows on spray structure of a high pressure multi-hole injector in a second generation direct-injection gasoline engine (제 2세대 직접분사식 가솔린 기관에서 고압다공연료분사기의 분무 형상에 대한 흡기유동의 영향)

  • 제 2세대 직접분사식 가솔린 기관에서 6공 연료분사기의 연료분무특성을 관찰하였다. 실험에 사용한 직접분사식 가솔린 기관은 2개의 흡입밸브와 2개의 배기밸브를 갖는 텀블형 Spray Guided 연소실과 Quartz로 제작된 실린더 라이너와 실린더 헤드 창으로 구성되어 있다. 선회유동을 유도하기 위하여 흡입매니폴드에 선회유동 제어밸브를 부착하였다. 2차원 Mie 스캐터링 기법을 이용하여 연료분사시기, 연료분사압력과 실린더 내 유동 및 냉각수 온도가 연료분무에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 실험결과로는 흡기과정동안 흡기 선회유동은 분사된 연료의 공간적 분포에 크게 작용하였고, 압축과정동안에는 텀블 및 선회유동의 영향이 흡기과정에 비해 크지 않음을 확인하였다. 또한 성층연소를 위해서 압축과정에서 연료를 분사하는 경우 고압의 연료분사압은 분무도달거리의 성장을 촉진시키나 상승하는 피스톤과 이로 인한 실린더 압력의 상승으로 분무도달거리의 성장이 억제됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • A study to investigate the influence of combustion chamber shape, especially piston top face configuration, on the combustion stability is presented with CFD analysis and single cylinder GDI engine test. Initial configuration of the piston bowl was designed with CFD analysis and further parametric studies of the design factors on the piston top face were carried out through the single cylinder GDI engine test. It was found that both the geometry of piston top face and the compression ratio have great influences on the combustion stability. Of interest is that the design factors of the GDI piston to prevent mixture diffusion out of the piston bowl have important roles for the stable combustion at the stratified mixture condition. Also the relationship between spray impingement and flow pattern in a GDI piston bowl should be considered to design an optimal bowl configuration for stable stratified combustion.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance of swirl combustion chamber diesel engine by changing the jet passage area and its angle, the depth and shape of the piston top cavity(main chamber). The performance of diesel engine with newly changed swirl combustion chamber was tested through the experimental conditions as engine speed, load and injection timing etc. The test results were compared and analyzed. The rate of fuel consumption was affected significantly by the jet passage area at the high speed and load, by the depth of the piston top cavity at the low speed and load. The exhaust smoke density and exhaust gas temperature depended sensitively on variation of the injection timing rather than the shape of the combustion chamber within the experimental conditions.

  • Soot formation and oxidation is closely related to the combustion phenomena inside a diesel engine. Laser-based diagnostics provide a means for improving our understanding of diesel combustion, because they have highly temporal and spatial ability. To understand the soot behavior we did preliminary study by taking flame luminosity photographs and 2-D images of soot distribution using Laser Elastic Scattering(LIS) and Laser-Induced Incandescence(LII). From the data we found that soot concentration was high in the bowl and disappeared from the central region in the late combustion stage and that soot exists in the flame using luminosity, LIS and LII.

  • 디젤 엔진의 분사연료를 연소실 내부에 마련된 작은 돌출부에 충돌시켜 액적을 작게 부수고 연료가 연소실 내부에 고루 분포할 수 있도록 하여 여러 가 지 엔진성능향상을 도모한 새로운 디젤 연소실 시스템이 최근 제시되고 있다. 이들 시스템은 피스톤 내부 혹은 엔진헤드 부위에 분사연료 충돌부를 두고 있는데, 여기에서는 이 새로운 시스템 개발에 있어 고려되어야 할 몇 가지 중요 요인들에 중점을 두어 분석하였다. 결과로서 분사압력, 사노즐크기, 주위공기 온도와 압력의 변화가 분무 평균입경과 분무연료의 분포에 미치는 영향을 제시하였다.

항공기용 유압 스푸울 밸브의 윤활해석

  • 유압장치의 핵심부품인 유압 제어밸브(hydraulic control valve)는 유압펌프 등에 의하여 가압된 유압유의 압력과 유량을 제어하고 유동방향을 변화시키는 주요기능을 수행한다. 특히, 대부분의 제어밸브는 스푸울(spool)과 슬리브(sleeve)를 기본구조로 채용하고 있다. 피스톤 형상인 스푸울이 슬리브내를 왕복운동하면 스푸울과 슬리브 사이의 간극(clearance)에서는 점성유체인 유압유의 윤활작용에 의하여 원주방향으로 비대칭인 유체압력이 발생한다. 이 결과로 스푸울에 측력(lateral force)이 작용하며, 조건에 따라서는 스푸울에 작용하며, 조건에 따라서는 스푸울에 작용하는 마찰력이 증대할 뿐만 아니라 스푸울과 슬리브의 내벽에 과도한 마멸(wear)을 유방시키기도 하여 제어밸브의 성능을 크게 저하시키기도 한다. 유압공학분야서는 이를 유체고착(hydraulic locking) 현상이라고 부른다. 본 논문에서는 항공기 Flap actuator의 Selector manifold에서 사용되는 스푸울 밸브의 성능에 큰 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상되는 스프울과 슬리브 사이 간극에서의 윤활특성을 이론적으로 조사하고자 한다.

  • A study on swirl chamber for diesel engine is to realize lower fuel consumption and exhaust emission than the current marketing engines. Author formerly reported the performance characteristics of small IDI diesel engine with swirl chamber by changing the jet passage area and its angle, and the depth and shape of the piston top cavity. Following after the first report, in this paper, the characteristics of fuel consumption, soot emission, and exhaust gas temperature were examined and analyzed after dimension of jet passage area expanded to $70.1mm^2$ The results were that the optimum values of the jet passage area depending on the depth of the piston top cavity were different at each engine speeds and loads, and in accordance with application of engine running conditions they were able to be selected as optimum dimensions of each design parameters.

  • In the high rotational speed and pressure state, the leakage flow rate of the axial piston pump is one of the serious problems and make great reasons to decrease the volume efficiency. In this study, tribology characteristics is clarified for the hydrostatic slipper bearing in the swash plate type axial piston pump, by means of theoretical analysis for the different shape of the hydrostatic slipper bearing. It was analyzed by Mathcad software and used equal conditions at $0^{\circ}$ swash plate angle in each model. The results show that performance characteristics of the swash plate type axial piston pump are significantly influenced by the shape of the hydrostatic slipper bearing.

  • The flow characteristics along a intake/compression process are very important for the combustion process. The intake/compression flow fields are related to the piston shape of engine. The flow fields are analysed by using the ICEM-CFD IC3M code for the rapid mesh-generation and by using the STAR-CD code for the calculations. The influences of the piston bowl shapes were investigated. The results showed that piston shapes had influences on a intake/compression flow and offered the definite basic data in a design side.
