A Study on the Improvement of Machinability of Sintered Ferrous Parts (철계 소결체의 피삭성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • Various elements which can improve the machinability of sintered ferrous materials were added into the sintered Fe +0.7%C. From the results of the machinability felt, it was found that the sintered part containing 0.15%$SiO_2$+0.15%MgO, which was sintered followed by a steam treatment, exhibited the superior machinability.

  • In order to clarify the effects of nonmetallic inclusion contents insteels (SM45C & SCM440) on the tool life, cutting experiment was performed under various cutting conditions. Tool life, cutting force, roughness of machined surface and cutting mechanism are examined on these two kinds of steel. The following conclusions were obtained from the analysis (1) Cutting force of the steels was not affected by chemical component and nonmetallic inclusion. (2) If the rate of amount, Ca/S has a value grater than about 0.2 and addition of less amount of Al, Mn, tool wear of tips decreasesinturning. (3) It is also proved that higher contents of nonmetallic inclusion improve roughness of the surface. (4) Less amount of Ca, higher amount of S, Mn and Al improve the chip breakability.

  • 오-스테나이트계 스테인레스강에 대한 용접은 용접재료의 개발과 더불어 각종 산업계에 널리 이용되고 있으며 최근 Type 303 오-스테나이트계 스테인레스강 등은 free machining재로써 널리 응용되고 있다. 그러나 이 303계는 피삭성, 절삭성, 칩형성개선을 위한 특수원소(Se, S 등)의 첨가 때문에 용접성에 문제점을 제기하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 Type 303을 중심으로 AISI 304-316NG 및 347NG계의 오-스테나이트계 스테인레스강의 고온연성거동과 고온균열감수성(용접성)에 관한 연구에 대한 검토중 고온연성거동에 관하여 조사하였다. 고온연성평가는 Gleeble Simulator에 의하여 재료와 방향성에 따라 검토하였으며, 그 결과 모든 재료는 압연방향을 종방으로 시험하였을 때는 거의 유사한 고온연성을 나타내었으나 횡방향으로 시험하였을 때는 종방향에 비하여 연성저하를 나타내었다. 이와 같은 고온연성은 후속연구에서 검토될 고온균열 감수성과 밀접한 관련성에 의하여 용접성을 평가할 수 있다.

Optmization of Cutting Condition based on the Relationship between Tool Grade and Workpiece Material(I) (피삭제와 공구재종의 상관관계에 근거한 절삭조건의 최적화)

  • To adapt the neural network proess for the purpose of determination of optimal utting onditions (optimal cutting speed and feed rate), some selection strategies for the machining factors are necessary, which is considered planning cutting process. In this case, factors that have both nonlinearity and strong relationship must be selected. Although tool grade and chemical properties of workpiece material have strong effect to cutting speed, it's not easy to find a analytic relation between them. In this paper, a mathematical method for determining the optimal amount of cutting (depth of cut, feed rate) is presented by tool goemetry and heat generation during cutting process. And various tool grade and workpiece material groups ase classified based on its chemical properties. Thier chemical composition and hardness are used as input pattern for neural network learnig. The result of learning shows the relationship between tool grade and workpiece material and it is proved that it can be used as a sub-system for automatic process planning system.

Effect of Nickel Content on Corrosion Resistance and Machinability of Fe-23Cr-2.5C-1.2Si-1.08Mn-0.48Mo-0.3V-xNi Cast Iron (Fe-23Cr-2.5C-1.2Si-1.08Mn-0.48Mo-0.3V-xNi 주철의 내식성 및 피삭성에 미치는 Ni의 영향)

  • The extruder screw material is mainly SKD11, but the recent development of synthetic resins have increased the occurrence of chemical corrosion and wear. To solve this issue, high chromium cast iron is needed because of its good abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance, but its use is avoided because of its poor machinability. In this study, to improve the machinability of high chrome cast iron, 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5% of nickel, which has excellent workability, was added to high chromium cast iron with a composition of Fe-23Cr-2.5C-1.2Si-1.08Mn-0.48Mo-0.3V, and annealed after casting. Subsequently, the effect of nickel on the machinability and corrosion resistance was analyzed using a turning test and coin polarization test, and compared with SKD11. After casting using a high-frequency vacuum induction furnace, the annealing treatment was performed at 750 ℃ for five hours and then reheated at 1100 ℃ for five hours. A turning test after annealing at 750 ℃ showed that the machinability was improved remarkably when the nickel content was over 1.0%. In the potentiodynamic polarization test in a 5% NaCl solution, the corrosion resistance decreased with increasing nickel content in the as-cast and annealing treatment. On the other hand, after reheating, the corrosion resistance was best with a 1.5% nickel content.
