  • There are fatigue fractures at the practical area. The fatigue load happens non- constantly. As it is impossible to be predicted, it can not be known when the fracture happens. Non -constant fatigue load is simulated in this study. The stability and the life of the material are analyzed theoretically by the program of Ansys workbench. These results are greatly applied as the practical structures to predict the prevention of failure and the endurance.

  • A nonlinear cumulative damage theory, which can model the effects of the magnitude and sequence of variable amplitude fatigue loadings, is proposed. The concrete beam specimens are prepared and tested in four-point flexural loading conditions. The variable-amplitude fatigue loadings in two and three stages are considered. The present experimental study indicates that the fatigue failure of concrete is greatly influenced by the magnitude and sequence of applied, variable-amplitude fatigue loadings. It is seen that the linear damage theory proposed by Palmgren and Miner is not directly applicable to the concrete under such loading cases. The sum of the cumulative damage is found to be greater than 1 when the magnitude of fatigue loading is gradually increased and less than 1 when the magnitude of fatigue loading is gradually decreased. The proposed nonlinear damage theory, which includes the effects of the magnitude and sequence of applied fatigue loadings, allows more realistic fatigue analysis of concrete structures.

  • Fracture mechanics is used for the detailed analysis of the failure of high-speed rotating cylindrical vessels. The general procedure for the analysis of fatigue life and failure used in this study is summarized; the initial material properties are also described. The results of the theoretical stress analysis are compared to the observed magnitude of the stress under the operational condition. The fracture-surface configurations observed under both optical and scanning electron microscopes are used to investigate the progress of fatigue crack propagation. Fatigue life estimates obtained by using the Paris model are compared to the actual service life of the high-speed rotating pressure vessel.

  • This study developed an analysis model of estimating fatigue damage using the linear elastic fracture mechanics method. Stress history occurring to an element when a truck passed over a bridge was defined as block loading and crack closure theory explaining load interaction effect was applied. Stress range frequency analysis considering dead load stress and crack opening was done. Probability of stress range frequency distribution was applied and the probability distribution parameters were estimated. The Monte Carlo simulation of generating the probability various of distribution was performed. The probability distribution of failure block numbers was obtained. With this the fatigue reliability of an element not occurring in failure could be calculated. The failure block number divided by average daily truck traffic remains the life of a day. Fatigue reliability analysis model was carried out for the welding member of cross beam flange and vertical stiffener of steel box bridge using the proposed model. Consequently, a 3.8% difference was observed between the remaining life in the peak analysis method and in the proposed analysis model. The proposed analysis model considered crack closure phase and crack retard.

  • 피로 파괴연구의 급격한 발전에 따라 최근의 기계나 구조물들은 많은 분야에서 손상허용설계원리에 근거하여 설계되고 있다. 이러한 상황 하에서 피로파손의 정확한 특성을 밝히는 것은 신뢰성을 고려한 기계나 구조물의 설계에 있어 가장 중요한 요인이 된다. 피로파손은 많은 랜덤요소를 내포하고 있으므로 실험결과 분석 및 수명예측을 분석하기 위해서는 통계학적 해석이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 회전굽힘피로시험을 수행하고 피로수명을 분석하는데 정규분포, 대수분포, 지수분포 및 Weibull분포를 이용하여 실험결과와 비교하고 파손확률을 찾는데 있다.

  • 광통신 시스팀에서 신호접속용으로 사용되는 광커넥터의 결합기구 중 세라믹 페룰-슬리브의 정렬기구에서 발생하는 성능저하 현상을 다루었다. 성능저하 현상으로 페룰 단면연마시 발생하는 Vertex Eccentricty, 좌굴현상, 환경에 따른 탄성 및 응력의 변화, 마모, 피로파괴 등에 대한 이론적인 배경과 실험결과를 토대로 특성에 대한 영향을 분석하였다.

  • While a satellite is carried into orbit by a launch vehicle, it is exposed to the severe launch environment with random vibrations and shock. Accordingly, these vibration sources affect electronic equipment, particularly the printed circuit board (PCB) in the satellite. When the launch load impacts the PCB, it causes negative behavior. This causes perpendicular bending around the boundary of fixation points that finally leads to the failure of solder joints, lead wires, and PCB cracks. To overcome these issues, the electronic equipment design must meet reliability requirements. In this paper, Steinberg's method is used to derive allowable and maximum deflection to verify design from a life perspective concerning the control board of the Antenna Pointing Driver (APD) mounted on KOMPSAT-3.

  • The objective of this study is aimed at developing a new class of polymer concrete, in which hydration of cement and curing of a thermosetting resin can take place simultaneously during the mixing of concrete components. For the selected mix-proportion of the new polymer, the physical and mechanical properties needed for designs are presented. These important properties are compressive strength, flexural strength, split tensile strength, direct strength, fatigue characteristics and fracture parameters. The observed properties are always compared with conventional concrete to serve as reference for engineer in deciding or selecting the proper materials for their projects, and shore protecting structure.
