Position Control of an Electro Hydraulic Actuator Using Adaptive Control Method (적응제어 기법을 이용한 전기-유압 액츄에이터의 위치제어)

  • This paper deals with the issue of simple adaptive position control for a pump-controlled cylinder system. A fixed displacement pump is utilized instead of servo valve and its speed is controlled by AC motor. The whole control system is composed of a pair of interconnected subsystems, that is, a feedback control system and a feedforward control system. From experiments it is shown that position control using simple adaptive control can accomplish significant reduction in position tracking error comparing to a conventional PID control.

  • DC and small-signal ac characteristics are examined for a pulse-width modulated (PWM) dc-dc buck-boost converter with a peak voltage modulation (PVM) feedforward control. Circuit model is used to derive an expression for the output voltage in terms of the input voltage and load resistance. Small-signal circuit model is used to derive the input-to-output voltage transfer function (audiosusceptibility).

  • In this thesis, a new speed control algorithm based on the load torque observer theory is pro¬posed for the high performance speed control of a voltage source inverter to drive a 3 - phase induction motor. The proposed system becomes robust against disturbances using a feed -- for¬ward control of the load torque estimated at load torque observer. Computer simulation and experimental works using the proposed control confirm that transient response for the varia¬tion ofload torque becomes improved, compared with the conventional PI control method.

  • The requirements for higher productivity call for high speed of the machine tool axes. Iron core type linear DC motor is growly accepted for a viable candidate of the high speed machine tool feed unit. LDM, however, has inherent disturbance force components: cogging and force ripple. These disturbance force directly affects the carrage tracking accuracy and must be eliminated or reduced. Reducing motor ripple, this paper adapted the feed forward compensation method. Experiments carried out on the linear motor test setup show that this compensation method is usable in order to reduce the motor ripple.

  • Synchronizing errors between the spindle motor and the z-axis motor directly influences the cutting characteristics and the thread quality in tapping, because the tapping process is accomplished by synchronizing the movement of the z-axis with the revolutionary spindle motion. Generally synchronizing errors are decided by tile parameters of the servo system and commanded velocity. The excessive synchronizing errors which are induced by the parameter mismatch and high cutting velocity can cause tap breakage due to the abrupt increase of cutting torque or damage the thread accuracy by overcutting the already cut threads. In this paper, the influences of the synchronizing errors on the tapping characteristics in the ultra high-speed tapping will be described and a minimum level of synchronizing errors necessary to maintain the quality of the cut thread will be presented.

A Basic Study on Control Algorithm for Car HVAC (승용차 공기조화 제어 알고리즘 기초연구)

  • Car HVAC is one of main factors influencing a potential customer's first impression. It should be fault-free, which requires the most stable control performance. So, the control algorithm consists of a proportional feedback only, not with an integral action needed for elimination of steady-state errors. To reduce the errors and make the response faster, feedforward algorithm based on predicted thermal load is added. To evaluate the performance, car HVAC is dynamically modelled and its control logic is simulated. The results shows that the proportional feedback leads to about $4^{\circ}C$ of steady-state error. When the feedback is combined with the feedforward algorithm and with a set value update based on disturbances, it predicts less than $1^{\circ}C$ of control error and improved thermal comfort.

  • This paper deals with the issue of motion control of a single rod cylinder-load system using simple adaptive control (SAC) method. Prior to controller design, the experiment of open-loop response has been performed. Based on it, design parameters of transfer function are obtained and used for controller design. The effect of parallel feedforward compensator has been investigated by computer simulation, suppressing the oscillatory motion. Through experiments it is conformed that the SAC method gives good tracking performance compared to the PD control method.

  • We have proposed a broadband analog feedforward optical transmitter using a wideband $180^{\circ}$ hybrid coupler instead of conventional frequency-sensitive phase shifter with the narrow bandwidth property using a wideband $180^{\circ}$ hybrid coupler, the wide-band linearization technique enhances the linearity of the feedforward optical transmitter. In two-tone cases, the $3^{rd}-IMD$ products was enhanced more than 10 dB in 385 MHz range(1.375$\sim$l.76 GHz).

  • A delivery ship is used to handle the cargo with the crane to/from the ships. The ship is inclined in the direction of a cargo which is hung on a crane. In this case, a arc shaped rail should be in the equilibrium state to get good anti rolling performance. In this study, a device and control algorithm are developed to take accurate and quick equilibrium of the rail. The device is composed of a hinged immovable support and two screw jacks. And the control algorithm demands two controllers. One controller is designed such that the screw jack 1 and 2 follow the position reference signal generated by a tilt sensor. The other controller of two degree of freedom is designed to remove the synchronous error occurred between jack 1 and jack 2. The simulation results show that the desirable control performance is achieved.

  • This paper presents a position control of ultra-precision machine tool post using piezoelectric material. A stack-type piezoelectric actuator Is employed in a hinge-type tool holder. An assumed linear transfer function of the practical nonlinear plant is established through the comparison of transfer functions and step responses in the experiments and the simulations. Several types of feedforward/feedback controllers are designed via computer simulations using the assumed linear transfer function. The position tracking control experiments are undertaken to show the control efficiency of each controller.
