Development of a Finisher Design System for Axisymmetic Hot Steel Forging (축대칭 열간 강단조의 피니셔 설계 시스템 개발)

  • A forging product in general is made through buster blocker and finisher processes. The dies used in these processes are designed by experienced forging engineers. In the present study an expert system is developed for the finisher die design of axisymmetric hot steel forging. It is a rule based system written in Fortran and AutoLISp operating on a personal computer. In this paper major rules consid-ered in the system are summarized and the capabilities of the system are examined through several examples.

A Case Study on the Application of Echelon Paving Method Using a 12m-Wide Screed Finisher on Flexible Airfield Pavements (광폭 Echelon 공법의 연성 활주로 포장 적용에 관한 사례 연구)

  • Asphalt pavements of the airport in service were monitored to construct new runway and taxiway and longitudinal cracks were found on the pavements. The sources of the longitudinal cracks were the low density which was caused by the longitudinal cold joint with asphalt Pavement constructions and the excessive loads of aircraft. Therefore, the echelon paving method using a 12m-wide screed finisher was used to eliminate longitudinal cracks. When the echelon paving is used, construction of the longitudinal joint is changed so that the compaction of the unconfined edge of the first lane is delayed until the second lane is placed. In conclusion, the use of this construction method results in the density of the longitudinal joint being equal to that of the adjacent mat.

  • This study investigated the effect of the changes in metal characteristics due to the hot forging on SCR420HB applied to ensure the optimal production of the hot-forging ratio on the mechanical properties of an automotive automatic transmission gear. The microstructural changes in the forging ratio were investigated by adjusting the forging range into multiple ranges from alloy steel. This was done in order to set the optimum forging range given the manufacturing process conditions during the hot forging of alloy steel parts with a carbon content of more than 0.8% wt. The effects of the content change in the microstructure on the mechanical properties due to the use of the part were examined.

  • Roller Compacted Concrete Pavement (RCCP), is a type of pavement using compaction roller and asphalt finisher on concrete mixture that contains low amount of water. RCCP strength and durability are greatly affected by compaction level. Quality control is performed by ensuring the degree of compaction at site based on dry density. In the field, Modified Proctor Test is used in order to obtain optimum dry density. However, there is no clear compaction curve analysis criteria of Modified Proctor Test for RCCP. In this study, compaction curve built by three samples of Modified Proctor Test was produced and it was used to compare with compaction curve contented lower number of samples (one and two samples) in order to analyze their reliability. Thus, a conclusion was drawn from the results; by comparing to the result from Modified Proctor Test of three samples, the use of two samples represented result with only 0.5% of error which means the reliability is 99.5%.

Development of Cost Estimate System of Construction Equipment through Analysing Its Domestic Rental Market (임대실태 분석을 통한 건설기계경비 산정시스템 개발)

  • The current estimation system of construction equipment cost was first introduced in 1960's when general contractors had ownership of equipment. However, most of construction equipment in construction sites has been rented from equipment leasing company these days. Therefore, the improvement of current cost estimation system is therefore inevitable in order to advance domestic construction industry. This study is aimed to suggest the improved system by analyzing nationwide market rental rates of major construction equipment. A user friendly prototype of actual database grounded on actual market rental rates collected from over 200 leasing companies in the nation was proposed. The database includes various rates and statistics analyzed by different form of contract as well as different region. Using the collected data, "The Cost Estimate System in Construction Equipment Database" was developed by using VBA(Visual Basic for Applications). The system makes users convenient to utilize the rental rates by choosing equipment and region, and various types of contract.
