A Study on Plume Disturbance Calculation Method of GEO-KOMPSAT-2 Satellite (정지궤도 복합위성 플룸 외란 계산 기법 연구)

  • The attitude control, station keeping and wheel off-loading at GEO-KOMPSAT-2 are realized by thrusters firings. Thrusters 1, 2 and 3 are mounted on the same axis as the solar array, which generates the plume disturbance largely. Therefore the effect of plume disturbance should be analyzed from satellite design phase. In this paper, we described the calculation method of plume disturbance and analyzed the plume disturbance of thruster 1,2 and 3 using GEO-KOMPSAT-2 initial configuration.

  • Assuming Gaussian distribution of the density difference between a turbulent jet river plume and its ambient saline water, a hydrodynamic solution for the lateral spreading of a river plume is developed. Two advantages can be expected from the assumption we made. Firstly, we need not consider mixing processes in the plume in dealing with this Problem. Secondly, by Putting pressure gradients which can be obtained from the density distribution, into the equation of motion, we can solve them easily. We compared the analytic solution with the fold data of the Nakdong river plume and found reasonably good correspondence.

  • This paper investigates CFD investigation on single phase supersonic nozzle flow and 2-phase subson ic flow prior to rocket nozzle supersonic 2-phase flow with water injection within the flame deflector. Numerical results of supersonic nozzle single phase flow showed no notable unrealistic behavior as it captures the usual shock cell structures. Three-dimensional 2-phase flow analysis has also been performed to verify whether the approach can grab the droplet behavior during cooling by water injection. It is expected these basic studies will enhance the cooling problem analysis of supersonic 2-phase rocket plume in the future.

  • KSLV-I KM plume including alumina particle has been studied using the continuum solver. Alumina particles are assumed to have 7 different diameters, and the specific ratio of the plume gas is assumed to be 1.2, with which the internal nozzle flow characteristics are similar to those of the chemically equilibrium analysis results. The results showed that the expansion angle of the particles is smaller than that of the gas phase, and that the big sized alumina particles are gathered in the plume core and the expansion angles of the big sized particles are smaller than those of the light particles. When the emissivity of the particles are assumed to be 0.1, the radiative heat flux is equivalent to those measured during the flight test of KSLV-I.

  • 인공위성은 일반적으로 추력기(thruster)에서 플룸(plume)을 거의 진공에 가까운 외부환경으로 사출하여 자세를 제어한다. 이 때, 사출되는 플룸에 의해 위성체의 고도에 영향을 줄 수 있는 교란추력/교란토크, 열하중(thermol loading), 정밀계측장비에 영향을 주는 오염(contamination) 등, 여러 부정적인 효과들이 야기될 수 있으며, 이들 효과들은 결론적으로 위성체의 수명을 단축하기 때문에 이들에 대한 정확한 예측은 위성체 설계단계에서 매우 중요하다.

  • 본 연구에서는 수치해석을 이용하여 Scarfed Nozzle의 플룸의 형태와 유동 특성을 분석하였다. 일반적인 추진기관의 노즐과 다르게 Scarfed Nozzle을 가지는 경우 축대칭의 형상을 가지지 않기 때문에 3차원 해석을 진행 하였다. Scarfed Nozzle의 플룸의 형태를 분석하기 위해 Canted Nozzle의 해석결과와 비교를 하여 연구를 수행하였다.

  • The finite volume method for radiation is applied to investigate a radiative heating of rocket base plane due to searchlight and plume emissions. Exhaust plume is assumed to absorb, emit and scatter the radiant energy isotropically as well as anisotropically, while the medium between plume boundary and base plane is cold and nonparticipating. Scattering phase function is modelled by a finite series of Legendre polynomials. After validating benchmark solution by comparison with that of previous works obtained by the Monte-Carlo method, further investigations have been done by changing such various parameters as plume cone angle, scattering albedo, scattering phase function, optical radius and nozzle exit temperature. The results show that the base plane is predominantly heated by the plume emission rather than the searchlight emission when the nozzle exit temperature is the same as that of plume.

  • The new KOMPSAT in preliminary design phase will utilize 4.45 N monopropellant thrusters for attitude and orbit control. In this paper, a numerical plume analysis is performed to verify the effects of thruster plume on the satellite with a 3-D satellite base region model by DSMC. As a result, plume behaviors such as overall plume temperature, total density and thermal radiation to solar array are estimated.

  • Development of an accurate infrared signature (IR) measurement system is expected to contribute in the development of low observable technology and the spectroscopic analysis of electromagnetic radiation. Application of a spectroradiometer (SR) allows for the measurement of detailed infrared signature from the exhaust plume due to its own heat source. Establishment of a measurement system using a micro-turbo engine is intended to simulate the modelling of the aircraft plume. The engine was installed on a test stand to measure the engine performance. The IR signature was measured by placing the SR perpendicular to the axis line of the exhaust plume. Reference data from the blackbody were also measured to calibrate the raw data, and the infrared signature of the background was also measured for comparison with that of the plume. The calibrated spectral radiance was obtained through the data reduction process and the results were analyzed in specific bands. The experiments revealed that the measurement system established here showed sufficient performance for further comprehensive analysis.

Computational Investigation of the Effect of Various Flight Conditions on Plume Infrared Signature (항공기 비행환경에 따른 플룸 IR 신호 영향성 연구)

  • The plume infrared signature effects at various flight conditions of aircraft were investigated for the purpose of reducing infrared signature level. The nozzle of a virtual subsonic unmanned combat aerial vehicle was designed through a performance analysis. Nozzle and associated plume flowfields were first analyzed using a density-based CFD code and plume IR signature was then calculated on the basis of the narrow-band model. Finally, qualitative information for the plume infrared signature characteristics was obtained through the analysis of the IR signature effects at various flight conditions.
