Scoring Method of Fingerprint Image Quality using Classified Block-level Characteristics (블록 레벨의 분류 특성을 이용한 지문 영상의 품질 측정 방법)

  • The purpose of this research is to propose a method for scoring the quality of a fingerprint image using the local information derived from the fingerprint image. In previous works for the quality measuring, most of the quality scores are related to the performance of a matching algorithm, and this makes the quality result more subjective. The quality score of a fingerprint image proposed in this work is sensor-independent, source-independent and matcher-independent one, and this concept of fingerprint sample quality results in effective improvement of the system performance. In this research, a new definition of fingerprint image quality and a new method for measuring the quality are proposed. For the experiments, several sub-databases from FVCs are used and the proposed method showed reasonable results for the test database. The proposed method can be used in various systems for the numerous purposes since the quality scores generated by the proposed method are based on the idea that the quality of fingerprint should be sensor-independent, source-independent and matcher-independent.

The Impact of Perceived Brand Globalness on Brand Attributes Evaluation: focusing on the Moderating Role of Thinking Style about Causality (소비자의 브랜드 글로벌성 인식이 브랜드 속성 평가에 미치는 영향: 인과관계에 대한 사고방식의 조절역할을 중심으로)

  • The study examined moderating role of thinking style about causality in the relationship between the perceived brand globalness(PBG) and the brand evaluation. Thinking style about causality is divided into interactionism and dispositionism. Individualism culture shows a tendency of thinking style about causality to dispositionism, and collectivist cultures shows a tendency for interactionism. We conducted a survey on Korean college students who represent collectivist cultures and foreign students from countries of individualistic culture and analyzed data through structural equation modeling. Analysis result showed that the higher the respondents perceived PBG, the higher they perceived brand quality, brand quality, and brand price. However, it showed that PBG has greater positive effects on perceived brand quality and perceived brand reputation among Korean students than students from individualistic cultures. On the other hand, the effects of PBG on perceived brand price did not show any significant difference between Korean students and students from individualist cultures. Thus, we can conclude that thinking style about causality plays a moderating role in the relationship between PBG and perceived brand quality and brand reputation, while it does not do so between PBG and perceived brand price.

  • 인터넷의 발달 및 VoIP의 보급으로 인해 VoIP 서비스의 품질에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 그 동안은 망사업자 관점에서 망의 품질을 개선하기 위한 MPLS, Diffserv, RSVP 등의 연구가 진행되어 왔으나, 실제로 서비스 품질은 망뿐만 아니라 단말 등의 품질에도 영향을 받기 때문에 망 사업자의 관점에서 보는 서비스 품질 기준이 아닌, 고객의 관점에서 인식 가능한 수준에서의 종단간 서비스 품질을 다룰 필요가 있다. 본 고에서는 서비스 품질이란 무엇인지 살펴보고, 국제표준단체의 서비스 품질 관련 연구 및 VoIP 서비스를 위한 음성 품질 평가 기술에 대하여 살펴본다.

Matching Performance-Based Comparative Study of Fingerprint Sample Quality Measures (매칭성능 기반의 지문샘플 품질측정방법에 관한 비교연구)

  • Fingerprint sample quality is one of major factors influencing the matching performance of fingerprint recognition systems. The error rates of fingerprint recognition systems can be decreased significantly by removing poor quality fingerprints. The purpose of this paper is to assess the effectiveness of individual sample quality measures on the performance of minutiae-based fingerprint recognition algorithms. Initially, the authors examined the various factors that influenced the matching performance of the minutiae-based fingerprint recognition algorithms. Then, the existing measures for fingerprint sample quality were studied and the more effective quality measures were selected and compared with two image quality software packages, (NFIQ from NIST, and QualityCheck from Aware Inc.) in terms of matching performance of a commercial fingerprint matcher (Verifinger 5.0 from Neurotechnologija). The experimental results over various Fingerprint Verification Competition (FVC) datasets show that even a single sample quality measure can enhance the matching performance effectively.

Evaluation of Patients서 Satisfaction with Foodservice of Mid-size Hospitals in Busan Area (부산지역 중소병원 급식서비스에 대한 환자만족도 평가)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the patients' satisfaction with the quality of hospital food service in Busan area. For the purpose, questionnaires were distributed to 271 hospitalized patients in 4 hospitals (three hospitals for self-operated foodservice, one for contracted foodservice) within 130 beds. The average scores were -0.99/5.00 for quality satisfaction of meal characteristics, -0.68/5.00 for service characteristics, and -0.37/5.00 for nutrition characteristics. The items of low scores in quality satisfaction were treatment of complaints, nutrition of meals, provision of nutritional information, the seasoning of the meals, selective menu, and sanitation of the meals. At the expectation and perception grid, high expectation and high perception items were cleanliness of employees' clothes, cleanliness of dish, employees' courtesy, exactness of meal time, and sanitation of the meals. High expectation and low perception items were treatment of complaints and nutrition. The patients with little appetite showed significantly (p<0.01) lower average scores in meal, service, and nutrition characteristics than those with much appetite. The self-operated foodservice operation had significantly (p<0.01) higher average scores in meal, service, and nutrition characteristics than those of the contracted foodservice operation. The patients hoped to improve the taste of cooked rice and side dish, quantity of the side dish, variety of menu, and sanitation of the meals.

  • 도서관 서비스 품질을 향상하기 위해서는 이용자의 요구를 파악하는 것이 무엇보다 중요하며 이를 위해 서비스 품질에 대한 속성을 분석하여야 한다. 그러나 많은 선행연구에서 서비스 품질 속성과 만족도와의 관계를 선형관계로 접근함으로써 서비스 품질 속성을 구분하지 않고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 서비스 품질에 대한 이원적 인식방법을 제시한 KANO의 3요인 이론을 적용하여 서비스 품질 속성과 만족도와의 관계를 비선형관계로 접근하여 서비스 품질 속성을 분석함으로써 이용자 관점에서 도서관 서비스 품질을 이해하고 구체적인 개선안을 제시할 수 있는 방법론을 제언하고자 한다.

Impact of Science and Technology Information Service Quality Satisfaction and Perceived Importance on User Loyalty (과학기술 정보서비스품질에 대한 만족도와 중요도 인식이 이용자 충성도에 미치는 영향)

  • In this paper, impact of science and technology information service quality satisfaction and perceived importance on the user loyalty was studied to find the way of improvement of information service quality. To analyze the impact among service quality variables, the research questions and hypothesis are set and statistical analysis on 641 survey answers was conducted. The correlation between satisfaction and perceived importance regarding each service quality item was high. Relationship between satisfaction of every item of the service quality and overall satisfaction was verified by multiple regression analysis. As a result, the five out of seven independent variables are statistically significant influence to the dependent variable. Relationship between the perceived importance and loyalty for each item was verified by multiple regression analysis was confirmed that the four out of seven independent variables are statistically significant influence to the dependent variable. The overall satisfaction is having an effect on loyalty verified through simple regression analysis.

Fingerprint Image Quality Analysis for Knowledge-based Image Enhancement (지식기반 영상개선을 위한 지문영상의 품질분석)

  • Accurate minutiae extraction from input fingerprint images is one of the critical modules in robust automatic fingerprint identification system. However, the performance of a minutiae extraction is heavily dependent on the quality of the input fingerprint images. If the preprocessing is performed according to the fingerprint image characteristics in the image enhancement step, the system performance will be more robust. In this paper, we propose a knowledge-based preprocessing method, which extracts S features (the mean and variance of gray values, block directional difference, orientation change level, and ridge-valley thickness ratio) from the fingerprint images and analyzes image quality with Ward's clustering algorithm, and enhances the images with respect to oily/neutral/dry characteristics. Experimental results using NIST DB 4 and Inha University DB show that clustering algorithm distinguishes the image Quality characteristics well. In addition, the performance of the proposed method is assessed using quality index and block directional difference. The results indicate that the proposed method improves both the quality index and block directional difference.

  • 최근 국제무역질서에 있어 국제화, 세계화는 가속화되어가고 있으나 국내 산업계의 생산성과 효율성 등은 이에 미치지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 경영층의 강력한 리더십 및 종업원의 자발적인 참여를 바탕으로 종업원과 고객의 만족을 동시에 추구하여 궁극적으로는 조직의 장기적 발전에 초점을 맞추고 있는 TQM개념〔Richard, 1993〕의 도입이 급박한 상황이며, 실제로 많은 기업이 이의 도입을 추진 또는 완료하였다. 이미 도입이 완료된 기업에 대해서는 지속적인 평가 및 개선이 요구된다 하겠다. 본 논문에서는 대덕연구단지내의 K 엔지니어링사를 대상으로 조직구성원들의 품질시스템에 대한 인식 및 자체적인 평가에 근거하여, K 엔지니어링사 품질경영시스템상의 문제점도출 및 이의 개선책을 제시하고 하였다. 본 논문에 적용된 평가 모델은 TQM을 적용하는 유사기업들에서도 활용할 수 있으리라 사료된다.
