Analytical Survey on the Package Source, Components, and Various Characteristics of Processed Foods in Korea (국내 가공식품의 포장 재질, 형태 및 다양한 특징 분석 연구)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the packaging characteristics including pack sources and pack components of processed foods in Korea. For the survey, 704 food package samples were selected based on the consumption of top 10 brackets in each food item. They were consisted of 1,245 packaging components. Seven specific items were firstly investigated including product name, capacity of the food, package component, package source, food contact area, food contact ratio, and package thickness. The processed foods in Korea can be classified into 16 pack sources and 21 pack components, respectively. By using this information, the data were analyzed specifically. The collected data were analyzed in 8 major categories: frequency of use by pack components and pack sources, pack components by the products, pack sources by the products and pack components, pack thickness/food contact ratio by the products, food contact ratio by pack components and pack sources. Consequently, this survey will provide various information of the packaging characteristics of processed foods in Korea.

Characteristics of School Menus from the Daegu and Gyeongbuk Area (대구·경북지역 학교급식 제공 메뉴 특성 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of menu items offered for school meals in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk area. A total of 538 menu items were collected from six schools (two elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools). There was a significant difference in food costs according to menu groups (p<0.001), with the highest food costs for meat and fish dishes (881.66 won) and the lowest cost for kimchi (114.50 won). The proportion of menu items using processed foods and with low operational efficiency were significantly higher in middle schools (p<0.01). In addition, menu items containing animal products were significantly higher in the non-traditional menu items in middle schools (p<0.001). Traditional menu items were less frequently cooked with oil (p<0.001) and processed foods (p<0.001), and their operational efficiency was higher (p<0.001). In conclusion, we found that traditional menu items in school meals were being offered with healthier ingredients and cooking methods, as well as a more efficient foodservice management, than non-traditional menu items.

Trade Structure and Comparative Advantage Pattern of Busan Area against Japanese Market (부산지역의 일본시장에 대한 교역구조와 비교우위 패턴 분석)

  • This paper analyzes the specific product-basis trade structure between Busan and Japan using the recent 2000-2007 trade statistical data. Several specific product-basis trade structure tests such as intra-industry trade index and market comparative advantage index show that there are considerable differences in intra-industry trade structure between Busan and Japan. Furthermore, this paper found that Busan has high quality vertical intra-industry trade and horizontal intra-industry trade as well as low quality vertical intra-industry trade in trading with Japan. While Busan has the market comparative disadvantage in automobile-part products in Japan. This paper also examines the contribution to trade balance of Busan's exports and the movement of Busan's comparative advantage patterns in Japan. The comparative advantage appears to have overall stability and convergence properties using symmetric indices.

  • Multi-purpose freight car is very useful to overcome the unbalance between freight demand and freight car supply. it means removable container is the auxiliary device to make flat car and container and it will be able to transport the container and flat freight. The study is analyzed the freight car operation frequency and freight volume and researched the efficient operation plan. The multi-purpose freight car will contribute in improved the seasonal and the item demand fluctuation and solved the problem of decrease utilization of the open freight car.

Recovery Cost Evaluation and Practical Application for Index Assessment of Private Facilities Damaged by Natural Disaster (자연재난 복구비용 산정을 위한 기법 및 실용화 연구)

  • Financial supports of private facilities which were damaged by natural disaster are currently performed partially by a government and the guideline of corresponding recovery costs be the natural disaster prevention law in South Korea. However, current financial recovery guidelines for the damaged private facilities has not been estimated objectively so far. This research presents advanced recovery cost search and assesment methods for the damaged private facilities under natural disaster. To produce more accurate data, an investigation for practical field markets which are appointed in Kangwon area is conducted and the proposed recovery values per each item are compared to exact field market values. Finally. more realistic and accurate recovery cost guideline including evaluation and more effective market surveying method are suggested here. A theoretical and practical program for systematic recovery cost calculation is proposed and expected to be used at public institution before long.

  • 물발자국은 개인이나 지역, 집단 등이 소비하는 재화와 서비스를 생산하는데 필요한 물의 총량을 나타낸다. 물발자국은 실제 눈에 보이지 않지만 생산품에 내포되는 수자원으로서 농 축산물의 국가간 교역시 가상수의 흐름이 내포되어 있고, 이에 따라 국가별, 품목별로 농 축산물 수출입에 따른 물발자국이 산정될 수 있다. 농 축산물의 물발자국은 농업용수와 관계가 있기 때문에 수출입 정책과 농업용수 수자원 확보를 동시에 고려하기 위하여 주요 농 축산물에 대한 국가간 가상수의 흐름을 분석하고, 이에 따른 국내의 물발자국의 영향을 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 농 축산물 교역을 통하여 이동되는 가상수의 흐름과 양을 산정하고 국내의 내적, 외적 물발자국의 변화를 분석하고자 하였다. 먼저 과거 5년 이상의 국가간 농 축산물의 교역량을 조사하고, 주요 농 축산물에 대한 가상수량을 적용하여 국가별, 품목별 Green, Blue, Grey 물발자국을 각각 산정하고 비교하였다. 특히 Blue water는 인위적으로 공급되는 용수이므로 수자원 절약의 측면에서 중요한 의미를 지니고 있다. 다음으로 주요 농 축산물의 국가간 물발자국 산정결과를 통하여 우리나라의 내적, 외적 물발자국을 산정하였다. 내적 물발자국은 자국내에서 생산되는 농 축산물의 가상수를 의미하고, 외적 물발자국은 수입되는 농 축산물에 대한 가상수를 의미한다. 내적, 외적 물 발자국의 비교를 통하여 품목별로 우리나라의 수자원 의존도 등을 평가할 수 있다. 본 연구결과는 단순히 농 축산물의 교역이 물품의 흐름이 뿐만 아니라 물품에 포함되는 가상수의 흐름을 동시에 고려한 것으로서 향후 농 축산물 수출입 정책과 수자원 정책을 동시에 고려하는 농축산업 관련 정책 수립시 중요한 기초자료로서 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

An Analysis of Single-person Households' Expenditure Pattern (1인가구의 품목별 소비지출 분석)

  • This study examines how single-person household expenditure patterns are different with respect to age and income groups using Tobit model. The expenditure data of the national household survey from 2006 to 2012 were used. The results show that income elasticities of all items are greater than 1 except for food & beverage, housing, water, electricity & gas, and Communication. Income elasticities are significantly different among consuming items. Additionally the income elasticities are also different between various age and income groups of single-person households. Therefore governments and businesses have to take this into account when devising their policies or strategies regarding single-person households. Especially, businesses need to adopt a strategy targeted at single-person households with high income and buying power such as unmarried professional people. As the number of single-person household increases the proportion of expenditures on necessities such as beverage, food, and energy is expected to decrease while that on services increases. Consequently policy responses are required to prepare for the expansion of service industries such as health, hospital, and housekeeping services.
