  • Government set violence as one of the important criteria when it rates movies or TV programs for juveniles. The purpose of selling this criteria is to prohibit the violence in TV programs or movies from affecting the actual behavior of juveniles. However, it is still under discussion how much the violence in broadcasting media actually affects juvenile violence. Korea once carried out a social experiment on juvenile violence media. Back in 1970, violent animation was popular in Korea and Korean government completely banned televising violent animations from September 1980 in an effort to prevent juvenile violence. Investigating the effect of this policy on juvenile violence would draw some implications. The result shows that the policy to ban violent animation in September 1980 didn't have meaningful effect on the trend of juvenile violence. The implication from this paper is that there is no certain cause-and-effect relationship between violent animation and juvenile violence. Another implication is that In-depth discussion is needed if this governmen4 policy is violating the juvenile's right to choose public media.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the reactions of viewers to the scene of violence (homely violence, verbal violence, tools violence) and to consider factors to consider when producing violent movies and suggest some implications. The implications of this study are as follows. First, film producers can be more realistic in dealing with disputes and controversies in the home than in the overall contents of the film. Second, when film producers put verbal violence into the film, they would rather not use excessive verbal or profanity, but rather use a verbal that would not make the relationship between the films strange. Finally, film makers should use some tools to mosaic the tools used to express violence to others, thereby reducing some of the cruelty expressed in movies.

  • Due to the development of IT technology, harmful multimedia contents are spreading out. In addition, obscene and violent contents have a negative impact on children. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a multimodal approach for blocking obscene and violent video contents. Within this approach, there are two modules each detects obsceneness and violence. In the obsceneness module, there is a model that detects obsceneness based on adult and racy score. In the violence module, there are two models for detecting violence: one is the blood detection model using RGB region and the other is motion extraction model for observation that violent actions have larger magnitude and direction change. Through result of these three models, this approach judges whether or not the content is harmful. This can contribute to the blocking obscene and violent contents that are distributed indiscriminately.
