형상계수법을 이용한 크라이오펌프용 냉각판의 기체분자 포획능력 해석

  • 첨단 공정이 필요한 반도체와 LCD, PDP, LED 등의 디스플레이 및 IT 부품을 제조하는데 필요한 장비의 고성능화와 작업환경의 고청정화에 따른 초고진공펌프의 수요 확대와 앞으로 전개될 한-미 FTA에 따른 시장 확대로 인해 크라이오펌프의 국산화가 시급한 실정이다. 고성능 크라이오펌프를 만들기 위해서는 냉각판을 극저온으로 냉각하기 위한 극저온 냉동기 개발도 중요하지만 냉각판(cryoarray)에 최대한 많은 분자를 포획시키는 것 또한 최우선적으로 고려되어야 할 사항 중 하나이다. 이에 본 논문은 크라이오펌프용 냉각판의 기체분자 포획능력에 대하여 연구하였다. 냉각판의 분자포획능력의 해석은 형상계수법(view factor method)을 이용해 수행하였다. 해석에 이용한 냉각판은 현재 상용화된 모델들 중 원형 중앙판에 45$^{\circ}$ 하향 skirt가 달린 형태이며 8장의 냉각판이 일정한 간격을 두고 아래쪽으로 적층되어있고 이를 기본 모델로 하여 skirt의 형상이 다른 3장의 냉각판을 가진 네 가지 모델을 해석하였다. 해석에 이용한 냉각판의 기체분자 포획능력이 구속된 형상에서 얼마나 우수한가를 알아보기 위해 크라이오펌프의 입구 직경과 냉각판 중앙 원판의 직경비, 냉각판 사이의 거리, 그리고 skirt의 길이를 변화시켜가며 극저온 냉각판에 직접 응축되는 typeII가스와 흡착제가 도포된 부분에 의해 흡착되는 typeIII가스로 분류하여 해석을 수행하고 그 결과를 비교, 분석하였다. 크라이오펌프의 입구 직경과 냉각판 중앙 원판의 직경비가 증가함에 따라 typeII가스와 typeIII가스 모두 기체분자 포획능력이 증가하며 극저온 냉각판 사이 거리의 변화에 따른 기체분자 포획능력은 typeII가스의 경우 극저온 냉각판 사이의 거리가 증가할수록 증가한다. 하지만 typeIII가스는 모델 A, C의 경우 증가하고 모델 B, D의 경우 증가하다가 다시 약간 감소한다. skirt 길이 변화에 따른 기체분자 포획능력은 두 가스 모두 skirt 길이가 증가함에 따라 점점 급격하게 증가하고 모델 B, D는 나머지 두 모델에 비해 큰 값을 갖는다. 기체분자 포획능력을 해석한 결과를 실제 배기속도와 비교할 경우 절대적 수치로써의 비교는 어려우나 각 모델의 형상의 차이에 의한 상대적인 비교는 가능하다.

But the retaining capability of oil boom is affected by various factors, such as water velocity, viscosity and density of oil, water depth, oil volume and the length of boom draft. In this study, a computer modelling was peformed to investigate how these factors influence the oil retaining process. The Fluent, most popular one of many CFD(computational fluid dynamics) programs is chosen for modelling and modelling results were verified using the empirical data. It is expected that results of this study will be useful data for oil boom designer and oil spill response commander.

Characteristics of Pinewood Nematode Trapping by Nematophagous Arthrobotrys spp. (선충포획성 Arthrobotrys속균에 의한 소나무재선충 포획 특성)

  • Pinewood nematode (PWN) trapping by nematophagous fungi, Arthrobotrys conoides, A. dactyloides and A. oligospora and the fungal growth were characterized. The three Arthrobotrys species each was inoculated into the PWN cultured on Botrytis cinera fungal colony on potato dextrose agar (PDA). The effects of temperature, pH, PWN inoculation density and nutrients on the growth of the three Arthrobotrys spp were measured. A. conoides grew fast, 13.9 mm/day while A. dactyloides grew slow, 3 mm/day. PDA medium was the best for the fungal growth at $25^{\circ}C$ and pH 4.5. The Arthrobotrys spp growth was stimulated by 500 nematodes inoculation but not by 1000 inoculation. A. dactyloides did not grow below pH 4.5 and at high PWN density. A. conoides and A oligospora formed trapping organs with thick constricting hyphal network only when PWN present, while A. dactyloides formed the organ with circular hyphae constitutively. A. conoides formed trapping organs faster than A. oligospora did. The nematode trapping hyphae of the fungi penetrated into PNW inside to form many tiny infection bulbs and to digest the nematode. However, A. dactyloides formed a few trapping organs but no trapping was observed. Infection rate of PWN was 95% by A. conoides, 80% by A. oligospora and 92% by the combination inoculation of A. conoides and A. oligospora. In contrast A. dactyloides increased PWN density without infecton. There was no interaction effect in any combination inoculation of the three Arthrobotrys spp. A. conoides enhanced PWN infection rate by rapid hyphal growth and early trapping, while A. oligospora did it by increasing hyphal density. In conclusion A. conoides is the most effective in both hyphal growth and infection, and thus these characteristics can be utilized as a biological control of PWN.

Numerical Analysis of the Beach Stabilization Effect of an Asymmetric Ripple Mat (왜도 된 연흔모양 매트의 해빈 안정화 효과 수치해석)

  • Even though the scale of hard structures for beach stabilization should carefully be determined such that these structures do not interrupt the great yearly circulation process of beach sediment in which the self-healing ability of natural beach takes places, massive hard structures such as the submerged breakwater of wide-width are frequently deployed as the beach stabilization measures. On this rationale, asymmetric ripple mat by Irie et al. (1994) can be the alternatives for beach stabilization due to its small scale to replace the preferred submerged breaker of wide-width. The effectiveness of asymmetric ripple mat is determined by how effectively the vortices enforced at the contraction part of flow area over the mat traps the sediment moving toward the offshore by the run-down. In order to verify this hypothesis, we carry out the numerical simulations based on the Navier-Stokes equation and the physically-based morphology model. Numerical results show that the asymmetric ripple mat effectively capture the sediment by forced vortex enforced at the apex of asymmetric ripple mat, and bring these trapped sediments back to the beach, which has been regarded to be the driving mechanism of beach stabilization effect of asymmetric ripple mat.

Identification of Toxic Chemicals Using Polypyrrole-Cyclodextrin Hybrids (폴리피롤-사이클로덱스트린 혼성체를 이용한 유해화합물질의 검출)

  • Polypyrrole is a typical electrical conducting polymer, which has an excellent charge transport property. Cyclodextrins are a group of toxic-free and cyclic oligosaccharide molecules, capable of capturing low molecular weight chemicals. Considering these advantages, hybrid materials of polypyrrole and cyclodextrin can be used to detect hazardous compounds. Cyclodextrin molecules can accommodate toxic chemicals by the formation of host-guest complexes and generate electric signals, which are effectively delivered by polypyrrole backbone. In this study, the polypyrrole/cyclodextrin hybrid material was prepared using a facile wet method and included into a hydrogel. Subsequently, it was applied to a simple sensor system with a gold-patterned electrode for the detection of potentially hazardous material, methyl paraben. Compared with pristine polypyrrole, it was found that the polypyrrole/cyclodextrin hybrid showed an improved performance. This study can be an example of using environmentally benign conducting polymer/cyclodextrin hybrids as sensing media.

  • numerical study on the coupled fluid-structure for a rotor blade in hover was conducted. Computational fluid dynamics code with enhanced wake-capturing capability is coupled with a simple structural dynamics code based on Euler-Bernoulli's beam equation. The numerical results show a reasonable blade structural deformation and aerodynamic characteristics.

  • 다수의 자율이동로봇으로 구성되는 다개체 시스템에서의 협조행동을 위해서 각 개체는 주변환경의 인식뿐만 아니라 환경변화에 적응할 수 있는 추론능력이 요구된다. 이에 본 논문에서는 강화학습을 이용하여 동적으로 변화하는 환경 하에서 개체들이 스스로 학습하고 대처할 수 있는 협조행동 방법을 제시한다. 제안한 방법을 먹이와 포식자 문제에 적용하여 포식자 로봇간의 협조행동을 구현하였다. 여러 대로 구성된 포식자 로봇은 회피가 목적인 먹이로봇을 추적하여 포획하는 것이 임무이며 포식자 로봇들 간의 협조행동을 위해 각 상태에 따른 최적의 행동방식을 찾는데 강화학습을 이용한다.

Electroantennogram Responses of Spodoptera frugiperda Males (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) to Sex Pheromone Compounds (열대거세미나방 성페로몬 성분에 대한 수컷의 촉각 반응)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the EAG (electroantennogram) response of Spodoptera frugiperda male to sex pheromone compounds and whether or not S. frugiperda male adults would undergo double mating. The EAG response of S. frugiperda male adult to Z9-14:Ac increased in a dose-dependent as the dose increased. Among the 7 sex pheromone components investigated, male EAG recording was the highest to Z9-14:Ac. The EAG response of S. frugiperda male adult to the mixed sex pheromone component was greater than that to the single component. Male adults of S. frugiperda were capable of double mating under laboratory condition, and the secondary mating rate increased to 72.2% compared to the 58.3% of primary mating rate. The EAG response of mated S. frugiperda male adult was not different from that of unmated S. frugiperda male. In the net house test with sex pheromone lure, mated male adults were not captured during the test period. Also, strangely, unmated male adults were not captured even in a trap equipped with virgin female adults, although the antennae of mated male adult were responded to the sex pheromone component in the laboratory. Probably, it is thought that the mated male adults may not have been caught in the trap be due to flight ability which has been decreased after mating. The field attractiveness of S. frugiperda male adults to sex pheromones remains to be further elucidated.
