  • 인터넷 사용자의 증가와 이에 따른 인터넷 트래픽 증가는 현재의 인터넷 서비스의 질을 현저히 떨어뜨리고 있다. 이러한 배경에서 인터넷 망 사업자는 사용자의 증가에 따라 망을 확장해야 하는 과제가 시급히 요구되었는데 이런 요구 사항에 의해 제시된 것이 MPLS라는 L3 스위칭 기법이다. 본 논문에서는 MPLS 기술을 기반으로 하여 ATM 환경에서의 개발중인 MPLS 라우터의 일부가 되는 포워딩 엔진의 설게와 구현에 대해 기술하고자 한다.

  • NGN 시대가 될수록 이동성을 지원하면서 네트워크를 효율적으로 이용하는 기술이 요구된다. Mobile Ipv6은 이와 같은 요구조건을 만족시키는 좋을 방법이다. 본 논문에서는 이동호스트가 핸드오버를 수행할 때 발생하는 Triangle Routing 오버헤드를 감소시키는 핸드오버 프로토콜을 제안한다. 제안된 핸드 오버 프로토콜은 Previous Access Router(PAR)가 Binding Update(BU) 메시지를 전송하게 함으로써 PAR에서 New Access Router(NAR)로 포워딩되는 패킷의 개수를 감소시킨다. 제안된 핸드오버는 NS-2(network simulation)에서 시뮬레이션 되었고, 멀티미디어 데이터 통신에 사용되는 UDP를 이용하였다.

  • Recently, new concept, NP(Network Processor) was emerged into communication systems to cope with the various service requirements from Internet users. NP is an unique promising technique to capable of implementing of the packet processing in wire-speed and providing the flexibility for supporting the newly network services, having satisfied with implementation using hardware and software respectively in past, This paper deals with the implementation techniques and evaluation results of the line card capable to do packet forwarding function with packet processing power of wire-speed and applicable to various physical interfaces. There are several interfaces of POS, Gigabit ethernet and EPON in E-OLT(EPON Optical Line Terminal) system of PATH(Photonic Access To Home) network. Therefore, the E-OLT's packet forwarding engine have to support various subscriber's interface in wire speed. Our system is implemented the subscriber's card in daughter board and the setup procedure is done by system firmware based on the module's identifier acquired from installed physical board.

Binary Search Tree with Switch Pointers for IP Address Lookup (스위치 포인터를 이용한 균형 이진 IP 주소 검색 구조)

  • Packet forwarding in the Internet routers is to find out the longest prefix that matches the destination address of an input packet and to forward the input packet to the output port designated by the longest matched prefix. The IP address lookup is the key of the packet forwarding, and it is required to have efficient data structures and search algorithms to provide the high-speed lookup performance. In this paper, an efficient IP address lookup algorithm using binary search is investigated. Most of the existing binary search algorithms are not efficient in search performance since they do not provide a balanced search. The proposed binary search algorithm performs perfectly balanced binary search using switch pointers. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated using actual backbone routing data and it is shown that the proposed algorithm provides very good search performance without increasing the memory amount storing the forwarding table. The proposed algorithm also provides very good scalability since it can be easily extended for multi-way search and for large forwarding tables

Location Management Scheme by using Jumping Pointer in Distributed HLR Environment (분산 HLR 환경에서 분기포인터를 이용한 위치 관리 기법)

  • In distributed HLR environment, the pointer forwarding with distributed HLR(Pointer Forwarding Scheme) has been proposed for eliminating the cost of updating multiple HLRs. In Pointer Forwarding Scheme, the find cost can be changed according to from which HLR a call originates. If a user changes PCS registration areas frequently, but receives calls relatively infrequently, and call for such a user originates from any other HLRs than the recently updated HLR, many VLRs should be traversed in order to find that user. In this paper, location tracking with jumping pointer in distributed HLR(Jumping Pointer Scheme) is proposed. The jumping pointer can be connected between the recently updated VLR and the VLR in which the mobile host currently resides. In case of call delivery, the mobile host can be found sooner by using the jumping pointer. In terms of 'find' cost, Jumping Pointer scheme improves about 17% over Forwarding Pointer scheme. Otherwise, Jumping Pointer scheme takes additional update charge in order to manage the jumping pointer. However the total costs of 'find' cost and 'update' cost for Jumping Pointer scheme are cheaper than them for Forwarding Pointer scheme when call-to-mobility ratio is smaller.

Design and Performance Evaluation for VPNs based (MPLS 기반 VPN 제공을 위한 설계 및 성능 분석)

  • This paper proposes that an efficient routing entry sending method between routing controller FE. based on this method, we organize IP VPN support method based on MPLS network and design MPLS-VPN service control module, MPLS-VPN processing, VPN group configuration and LSP setup processing. We evaluate the performance about the VPN based on proposed MPLS, at the result of evaluation. We figure out that based on proposed IPC method, lost packets number reduces and delay increases more slowly in case of VPN based on MPLS comparing with the VPN based on ATM which has rapid delay increasement. Therefore we confirm that the VPN based on MPLS has high speed of packet processing and high utilization of buffers through the performance evaluation.

CEM-PF: Cost-Effective Mobility Management Scheme Based on Pointer Forwarding in Proxy Mobile IPv6 Networks (프록시 모바일 IPv6 네트워크에서 포인터 포워딩에 기반한 비용효과적인 이동성관리 기법)

  • We propose efficient mobility management schemes based on pointer forwarding for Proxy Mobile IPv6 Networks(PMIPv6) with the objective to reduce the overall network traffic incurred by mobility management and packet delivery. The proposed schemes are per-user-based, i.e., the optimal threshold of the forwarding chain length that minimizes the overall network traffic is dynamically determined for each individual mobile user, based on the user's specific mobility and service patterns. We demonstrate that there exists an optimal threshold of the forwarding chain length, given a set of parameters characterizing the specific mobility and service patterns of a mobile user. We also demonstrate that our schemes yield significantly better performance than schemes that apply a static threshold to all mobile users. A comparative analysis shows that our pointer forwarding schemes outperform routing-based mobility management protocols for PMIPv6.
