Novel Channel Estimation Method in Fast Fading Channels Applied to LTE-Advanced (LTE-Advanced에 적용되는 빠른 페이딩 채널의 새로운 채널 추정 방법)

  • Accurate transmission and estimation of the channel statistics affected by high Doppler spread is one of the main issues of concern for the latest and future mobile communication systems. Therefore, it is important to research in novel channel estimation techniques that overcome the limitations of conventional methods. In this paper, we propose a novel channel estimation method that, after a simple estimation in the first OFDM symbol, uses Kalman filter to predict the channel in the rest of OFDM symbols with pilot subcarriers. Our method is designed considering the lattice-type arrangement of pilot subcarriers in LTE-Advanced, since most of the studies so far focus on block-type or comb-type pilot arrangements. In addition, to optimize the results, we use the filtering of channel impulse response and Wiener Filter for the estimation of the channel frequency response in the rest of the subcarriers.

Improvement of the Sphere Decoding Complexity through an Adaptive OSIC-SD System (Adaptive OSIC-SD 시스템을 통한 SD 복호기 복잡도 개선)

  • Sphere Decoding (SD) is a decoding technique able to achieve the Maximum Likelihood (ML) performance in fading environments; nevertheless, the main disadvantage of this technique is its high complexity, especially in poor channel conditions. In this paper, we present an adaptive hybrid algorithm which reduces the conventional Sphere Decoder's complexity and keeps the ML performance. The system called Adaptive OSIC-SD modifies its operation based on Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) information and achieves an optimal performance in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) and complexity. Through simulations, we probe that the proposed system maintains almost the same bit error rate performance of the conventional SD, and exhibits a lower, quasi-constant complexity.

A study of morphological characteristics and hybridization on Lepista nuda (민자주방망이버섯(Lepista nuda )의 형태적 특성 및 교배에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, twelve of Lepista nuda were collected from various localities in Korea. Also thirteen exotic L. nuda species were collected from Japan, France, Switzerland and Portugal. Spores were isolated under optical microscope. These spores were placed on the surface of YM medium for inducing to germination. Eleven mating-groups were selected by morphological characters of fruit body such as size, color and stipe patterns. Intra-isolate crosses were made between two single-spore isolates derived from mating-groups. Also, dikaryotic crossing using the isolates from L. nuda were carried out to evaluated tetrakaryon formation. Cross-mating compatibility tests also verified its dikaryotic state by microscopic or molecular genetic observation of clamp connection and Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) band pattern. To analyze the growth rate of hybrids and parents mycelium in dikaryons obtained from compatible mating groups were placed on PDA medium. Intra-isolate crosses determined eleven mating-groups within L. nuda. The typical clamp connection were mostly observed in mating-groups of Korean L. nuda in $K1{\times}K2$, $K1{\times}K3$, $K1{\times}K4$, $K1{\times}K6$, $K1{\times}K5$, $K2{\times}K4$, $K2{\times}K3$, $K2{\times}K6$, $K3{\times}K4$, $K4{\times}K5$, and $K4{\times}K6$. Korean L. nuda type of dikaryon, shown to cross-incompatibility with L. sordida, it seemed that mating induce more rapidly than wild types in a view of growth rate. In conclusion, it would be useful to improve mass production with better morphological characteristics through a special mating of L. nuda.

New SNR Estimation Algorithm using Preamble and Performance Analysis (프리앰블을 이용한 새로운 SNR 추정 알고리즘 제안 및 성능 분석)

  • The fast growing of the number of users requires the development of reliable communication systems able to provide higher data rates. In order to meet those requirements, techniques such as Multiple Input Multiple Out (MIMO) and Orthogonal Frequency Division multiplexing (OFDM) have been developed in the recent years. In order to combine the benefits of both techniques, the research activity is currently focused on MIMO-OFDM systems. In addition, for a fast wireless channel environment, the data rate and reliability can be optimized by setting the modulation and coding adaptively according to the channel conditions; and using sub-carrier frequency, and power allocation techniques. Depending on how accurate the feedback-based system obtain the channel state information (CSI) and feed it back to the transmitter without delay, the overall system performance would be poor or optimal. In this paper, we propose a Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) estimation algorithm where the preamble is known for both sides of the transciever. Through simulations made over several channel environments, we prove that our proposed SNR estimation algorithm is more accurate compared with the traditional SNR estimation.

Throughput Performance analysis of AMC based on New SNR Estimation Algorithm using Preamble (프리앰블을 이용한 새로운 SNR 추정 알고리즘 기반의 AMC 기법의 전송률 성능 분석)

Also, We applied AMC on several channel environments using the parameters of IEEE 802.11n, and compared the Throughput performance when using each of the different SNR Estimation Algorithms. The results obtained in the simulation confirm that the proposed algorithm produces the highest Throughput performance.
