Primary malignant melanoma occurring in the lung is very rare and only few cases have been reported in the literatures. We have experienced one case of primary malignant melanoma of the right middle lobe. The patient was a 65-year-old male who had cough with blood tinged sputum for one month. Chest computed tomography showed about 4.5$\times$3 cm sized mass at the right middle lobe encasing the bronchus. Percutaneous needle biopsy was performed and confirmed to malignant melanoma. Physical examination and additional clinical history showed that the mass had not metastasized to other possible primary sites. The patient underwent thoracotomy with right middle lobe lobectomy. Histologically, the tumor showed sheets of tumor cells that have nuclear atypia and melanin pigment Postoperative course was uneventful and the patient has been followed up for 24 months with no recurrence.

Metastatic cancer is one of the main causes of cancer-related death since they rarely respond to available treatments. There is epidemiologic evidence that high garlic consumption decreases the incidence of cancer. Recent studies of our laboratory have revealed that a garlic-extracts is effective in suppressing metastasis. For experimental metastasis, C57BL/6 mice were injected intravenously with melanoma B16F10 cells in the tail vein, and were orally administered various concentrations (0, 50, 100 or 200 mg/kg body weight) of garlic hexane extract (GHE) for 21 days. The incidence and the area of the melanoma cell colony occupied by the poorly differentiated carcinoma were significantly lower in dose-dependent in 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg BW GHE - treated mice compared with control mice. In conclusion, the results of the present study show that GHE administration prevents lung metastasis in C57BL/6 mice.

Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (HE) is a very rare malignant tumor that is pathologically benign tumor originating from endothelial cell but clinically presents metastasis and recurrence. A 29-year-old asymptomatic man, preoperatively diagnosed as lung cancer in the left lower lung, underwent a lobectomy, a wedge lung resection of left upper lung, and partial resection of diaphragm. Left lower lobar lesion was confirmed as pulmonary epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, but the lesions of the left upper lung and diaphragm were remained calcified by spontaneous regression of HE. We report a case of subcutaneous metastasis that occurred two times at 10 months and 19 months after previous surgical treatment of pulmonary EH.

Intravenous leiomyomatosis is a rare disease entity of benign smooth muscle invading into the lumen of veins. We describe a case of intravenous leiomyomatosis originating from the uterus, growing in the inferior vena cava, and extending into the right ventricle association with multiple pulmonary metastasis. A 53-year-old woman with chest discomfort and several times attacks of syncope was treated at our hospital. The tumor was successfully removed with moderate hypothermic cardiopulmonary bypass after total hysterectomy with a bilateral salphingo-oophorectomy, and multiple pulmonary metastasis under simultaneous sternotomy and laparotomy was confirmed.

Mostly lung diseases by smoking and air pollution is increasing social interest one of 6 kinds of modern diseases which is difficult functional recovery of damaged lung as dangerous diseases of life extension. Therefore, to reduce suffering from respiratory diseases is usually non-smoking, to do strengthen behavior of lung function. In this paper, we would like to propose method to do investigation by voice analysis technology to apply when lung associated ear acupuncture point stimulus to help strengthen actually lung function. From this, we would like to consider the voice change of before/after in smoking to analyze the impact on the human body to the lungs. Based on this experiment, we would like to investigate numerically quantity data actual improved lung function to analyze of voice character difference of before/after in lung associated ear acupuncture point stimulating.

We report here a case of pulmonary benign metastasizing leiomyoma from the uterus in a 45 year old woman. The patient presented for investigation of multiple pulmonary nodules on a routine chest roentgenogram. The patient had undergone uterine myomectomy due to uterine leiomyoma 10 years earlier. We performed thoracoscopic wedge resection for definitive diagnosis. Histologically, spindle shaped smooth muscle cells appeared between collagen stroma, histology similar to that seen in uterine myoma. The tumor tissue tested positive for estrogen and progesterone receptors. The pathological findings were consistent with benign metastasizing leiomyoma. The patient was in pre-menopause. She received no specific treatment for lung tumors, and we did not found any changes in the lesions after one year follow up without any medication.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma is a relatively rare tumor that usually arises in the parotid and submandibular salivary glands. The initial management is surgical, and this is often combined with post-operative radiotherapy, but local relapse is common and distant metastasis is not infrequent. We experienced the case of a 59 years old male who had been previously operated on for a primary submandibular salivary cyst, and he then had a distant pulmonary metastasis 9 years later. We operated on him with performing a wedge resection on the left lower lobe for the metastatic lesion, and he hasn't had any evidence of tumor recurrence for 84 months after the second operation.

Pleomorphic adenoma is also called a mixed tumor and it most commonly occurs in the salivary gland. This neoplasm has a low grade malignant potential, but it may also show aggressive clinical behavior like recurrence or metastasis. We report here on a case of a tumor that was confirmed to be primary pulmonary carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma by the pathologic examination after complete resection, and it had the characteristics of malignant neoplasms, such as multiple metastases.

We report a case of advanced gastric cancer with Virchow's node and lung metastasis that responded remarkably to preoperative chemotherapy. A 47-year-old female patient was diagnosed as having incurable advanced gastric cancer with Virchow's node and multiple lung metastasis. Preoperative chemotherapy with Taxotere, CDDP and 5FU was carried out. After four courses of the regimen, the Virchow's node and the lung metastasis had disappeared, and a marked reduction of the gastric lesion was observed on the CT scan. Consequently, the patient underwent a total gastrectomy with D2 lymph node dissection. On histopathological examination, cancer cells were found to have infiltrated up to the muscle layer of the gastric wall, and 42 out of 60 resected lymph nodes were found to be metastatic. The patient received another two courses of chemotherapy after the operation. (J Korean Gastric Cancer Assoc 2004;4:282-285)

폐 결절과 폐 종양은 전 세계 사망의 주요 원인인 폐암의 초기 증상일 수 있기 때문에 임상적으로 중요하다. 그래서 많은 학자들은 이를 검출하기 위해 컴퓨터를 통한 이미지 분석을 시도하였고, 그러기 위한 첫걸음으로 폐 윤곽선을 추출했다. 본 논문에서는 파티클 필터를 이용한 폐 윤곽선을 추출함으로써, 폐 외벽에 붙어있는 폐 결절 및 폐 종양도 분리할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다.
