In this study, the nonlinear dynamic model of the systems which include the offshore structure, the surrounding sea water in terms of the added mass, the foundation in terms of frequency independent springs, dashpots, and the floating ice feature with its hydrodynamic added mass, are proposed for the problem of the large ice floes impact. Dynamic Analysis is performed on two site conditions, sand site and silt site, and on two seasons, winter and summer, for various ice floe velocities. As a result of study, Ice floes from energy balenced method is lower than that from dynamic modeling on sand site, and higher than the on silt site.

In this paper structural analysis of underground electrical power cable structures which is excavated below the surface of the earth in the downtown area is carried out considering the effect of construction sequence. There are many various life-line facilities below the surface of the earth in the downtown area. MPDAP was used for finite element analysis of underground electrical power cable structures. Three typical sections are simulated by finite element models. Unbalanced equilibrium problems may be occurred when conventional finite element procedures were used for simulation of tunnel excavation. Therefore equilibrium perturbation concept was applied to solve these problems. The effects of time-dependent deformations in advancing tunnel excavation are considered in the stages of construction sequences as using the load distribution factor. It is shown that values of maximum displacement of both soil and rock surrounding underground electrical power cable structures obtained by our numerical studies are less than allowable values.

In this study, we propose a new three-node hybrid-mixed curved beam element with the relaxed-equiribrium stress functions for static analysis. The proposed element considering shear deformation is based on the Hellinger-Reissner variational principle. The stress functions are carefully chosen from three important considerations: (i) all the kinematic deformation modes must be suppressed, and (ii) the spurious constraints must be removed in the limiting behaviors via the field-consistency, and (iii) the relaxed equilibrium conditions could be incorporated because it might be impossible to select the stress functions and parameters to fully satisfy both the equiribrium conditions and the suppression of kinematic deformation modes in the three-node curved beam hybrid-mixed formulation. Numerical examples confirm the superior and stable behavior of the proposed element regardless of slenderness ratio and curvature. Besides, the proposed element shows the outstanding performance in predicting the stress resultant distributions.
In order to trace the lateral post-buckling behaviors of thin-wafled space frames, a geometrically nonlinear finite element formulation is presented by applying incremental equilibrium equations based on the updated Lagrangian formulation and introducing Vlasov's assumption. The improved displacement field for symmetric thin-walled cross sections is introduced based on inclusion of second order terms of finite rotations, and the potential energy corresponding to the semitangential rotations and moments is consistently derived. For finite element analysis, tangent stiffness matrices of the thinwalled space frame element with 7 degrees of freedom including the restrained warping for each node are derived by using the Hermition polynomials as shape functions. A co-rotational formulation in order to evaluate the unbalanced loads is presented by separating the rigid body rotations and pure deformations from incremental displacements and evaluating the updated direction cosines of the frame element due to rigid body rotations and incremental member forces from pure deformations. Finite element solutions for the spatial buckling and post-buckling analysis of thin-walled space frames are presented and compared with available solutions and other researcher's results.

The main object of this paper is that it's possible to monitoring the deformation of cable in the tensegrity structure. always monitoring system of Fiber Bragg Grating(FBG)Sensor is described. The measurement of parts on the cable is very important. We make an experiment with measuring deformation of cable in the tensegrity structure to the pressure conditions. In the result of experiment, the fiber sensors showed good response to the pressure conditions. Therefore, We could calculate the deformation of cable structure and be possible health monitoring of the tensegrity structure.

In general, the cutting pattern of the membrane structures is determined by dividing the complicated curved 3-D surface into several 2-D plane strip by using flattening technique. In this procedure, however, some discrepancies ore occurred between actual stresses of equilibrated state and designed uniform stresses because the material properties are not considered. These deviations can cause the critical structural problems, wrinkling or overstress, and thus a optimization process should be considered. In this paper, a new analytical method for determining an optimum cutting pattern considering material properties is presented. Here, iterative procedure is introduced to decrease the errors caused in numerical process. The optimization method proposed can diminish the deviations occurred by material properties and numerical errors, simultaneously. As a results, it is shown that the final stress distributions for the HP shell model are sufficiently near to design stress distributions, and it can be concluded that this method can be used to obtain the optimized cutting pattern of membrane structures.

Amorphous indium-gallium-zinc-oxide thin-film-transistors (TFTs) were modeled successfully. Dependence of TFT characteristics on structure, thickness, and equilibrium electron-density of the active layer was studied. For mono-active-layer TFTs, a thinner active layer had higher field-effect mobility. Threshold voltage showed the smallest absolute value for the 20 nm active-layer. Subthreshold swing showed almost no dependence on active-layer thickness. For the double-active-layer case, better switching performances were obtained for TFTs with bottom active layers with higher equilibrium electron density. TFTs with thinner active layers had higher mobility. Threshold voltage shifted in the minus direction as a function of the increase in the thickness of the layer with higher equilibrium electron-density. Subthreshold swing showed almost no dependence on active-layer structure. These data will be useful in optimizing the structure, the thickness, and the doping ratio of the active layers of oxide-semiconductor TFTs.

In this paper, we present a surface relaxation model in atomistic calculations for thin nanofilms. This surface relaxation model is very simple model which have only two degrees of freedoms to determine the atomic positions of nanofilms. Whereas in conventional molecular statics simulations, the same number of degrees of freedoms at all atom positions are used as unknown variables. In order to prove the reliability of the presented model, we present the results of self-equilibrium strain calculations with the surface parameters obtained from this model.
