  • This study aimed to identify the factors affecting confidence in performance of fundamental nursing skills in nursing students. Participants were 318 nursing students who haven't had clinical practice experiences to the point of data collection in two universities in B and U cities. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheff? test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. The mean scores of self-directed learning ability, satisfaction with practicum, and confidence in performance of fundamental nursing skills were $3.38{\pm}0.40$, $3.93{\pm}0.59$, and $3.40{\pm}0.61$, respectively. Correlations were found between confidence in performance of fundamental nursing skills and self-directed learning ability (r=.289, p<.001) and satisfaction with practicum (r=.353, p<.001), and between self-directed learning ability and satisfaction with practicum (r=.393, p<.001). Factors influencing the confidence in the performance of fundamental nursing skills were satisfaction with practicum (${\beta}=.24$, p<.001), self-directed learning ability (${\beta}=.15$, p=.010), and attitude to practicum participation (${\beta}=.13$, p=.027). These factors explained 15.6% of the variance in the participants' confidence in performance of fundamental nursing skills. Therefore, effective nursing educational programs need to be developed in order to foster confidence in the performance of fundamental nursing skills of nursing students by enhancing self-directed learning ability, satisfaction with practicum and active attitude to practicum participation.

  • Clustering is to divide given data and automatically find out the hidden meanings in the data. It analyzes data, which are difficult for people to check in detail, and then, makes several clusters consisting of data with similar characteristics. On-Line Document Clustering System, which makes a group of similar documents by use of results of the search engine, is aimed to increase the convenience of information retrieval area. Document clustering is automatically done without human interference, and the number of clusters, which affect the result of clustering, should be decided automatically too. Also, the one of the characteristics of an on-line system is guarantying fast response time. This paper proposed a method of determining the number of clusters automatically by geometrical information. The proposed method composed of two stages. In the first stage, centers of clusters are projected on the low-dimensional plane, and in the second stage, clusters are combined by use of distance of centers of clusters in the low-dimensional plane. As a result of experimenting this method with real data, it was found that clustering performance became better and the response time is suitable to on-line circumstance.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the smoking-related characteristics of health and non-health related majors and the relationship between the smoking dependence and oral health practice of college students. The subjects in this study were the college students who were selected by convenience sampling from four different universities in the city of Jeonju, North Jeolla Province. The answer sheets from 811 respondents were analyzed. The findings of the study were as follows: The rate of the smoker students whose major was related to health stood at 20.6 percent, and that of the smoker students whose major was not related to health stood at 29.4%. There were significant differences according to the track of their major (p<0.05). As for links between smoking dependence and a plan to quit smoking, 32.7% of the health-related majors who considered themselves to depend on smoking replied they would give up smoking if there would be a rise in cigarette price (p<0.005), and 37% of the nonhealth related majors who considered themselves to depend on smoking gave the same answer. Thus, the largest group of the students intended to quit smoking if there would be a rise in cigarette price, and there were statistically significant differences according to smoking dependence (p<0.05). Concerning connections between smoking dependence and actual oral health practice, the non-health related majors who didn't consider themselves to depend on smoking got 3.53 in the item whether they brushed their teeth twice or more a day (p<0.05). In conclusion, the development and implementation of systematic programs that are to teach students to stay away from or quit smoking and take care of their oral health regardless of their major are required to step up the oral health promotion of college students.

  • A survey was conducted from September 9 to November 2, 2013, on 277 teachers in 10 different elementary schools to find out about their awareness of school dental clinics and preventive oral health programs. The schools were selected by convenience sampling from the city of Gunsan, North Jeolla Province. Out of the teachers, 133 teachers worked in five elementary schools equipped with school dental clinics, and 144 teachers worked in the other five elementary schools that weren't equipped with school dental clinics. As for data analysis, an IBM SPSS 21.0 was utilized as well. As a result of analyzing their opinions on the top priority of oral health programs, the teachers from the schools equipped with school dental clinics placed the most importance on application of fluorides and oral health education (71.1%), and the teachers from the schools without school dental clinics gave top priority to oral health education (76.5%). The 87.0% of the former replied that there was improvement in the oral health status of the students. The 74.4% of the latter answered they had never heard about school oral health programs, but 85.8% expected the introduction of school oral health programs to be of use for the improvement of the oral health state of the students. The 57.7% of the teachers from the schools with school dental clinics didn't think there were sufficient human resources who could be responsible for preventive oral health programs. As the successful performance of oral health programs by school dental clinics exerts a huge influence on not only the oral health promotion of school organizational members but that of community members, schools that aren't yet equipped with dental clinics should be informed about the necessity of school dental clinics, and the government should put more efforts into publicity activities about school dental clinics.

To structure analysis the effects that is given from self-elasticity of student of dental hygienic influences life adaptation of college and study satisfaction, from 2013/10/1 to 2013/10/31 due to convenience sampling, 369 students in grade 1,2,3 in Daegu Gyeongbuk were conducted a survey. The sub factors of self elasticity and study satisfaction and correlation of university life adjustment have the highest relevance to optimistic attitude and life adaptation of college. The higher self elasticity, the higher study satisfaction and the higher self elasticity and study satisfaction, the higher life adaptation of college. self elasticity increase the study satisfaction of students, improve adaptation(p<0.001). Therefore to promote the life adaptation of college, the effort and attention to reinforce the abilities of regulation of self elasticity that are an improvement of personal relation, goal setting, anger control and motivation. On this wise, development and management of suitable continuous and gradational educational programs are needed.

  • This paper reports a meta-analysis of sixteen studies that evaluated the efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for persistent primary insomnia. PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, CINAHL and several Korean databases were searched between January 2015 and June 2015. The main search strategy involved the terms that indicate CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Insomnia) and presence of insomnia. Methodological quality was assessed using Cochrane's Risk of Bias. Data were analyzed by the RevMan 5.3 program of Cochrane Library. Sixteen clinical trials met the inclusion criteria, resulting in a total of 1503 participants. Stimulus control, sleep restriction, sleep hygiene education, and cognitive restructuring were the main treatment components. CBT-I was conducted for a mean of 5.4 weeks, 5.5 sessions, and an average of 90 minutes per session. The effects of CBT-i on total sleep time (d=-0.31), sleep onset latency (d=-0.29), awakening time after sleep onset (d=-0.55), sleep efficiency (d=-0.70), insomnia severity (d=-0.77) and sleep belief (d=-0.64) were significant. Overall, we found a range from small to moderate effect size. CBT-I also was effective for anxiety (d=-0.30) and depression (d=-0.35). The findings demonstrate that CBT-I interventions will lead to the improvement of both sleep quality and quantity in patients with insomnia.
