  • This study was performed to develop a dryer for home clothes using thermoelectric module. The thermoelectric module was used as a heat source and a dehumidification device because it has heating part and cooling part at once. To design for maximizing the energy efficiency and the rate of dehumidification, the parameters of the dryer using thermoelectric module are heat capacity and air flow rate. This study showed that the thermoelectric module can be used in the clothes dryer and energy efficiency of clothes dryer be better than that of electric heating dryer.

  • Temperature difference between two plates occurs when a current is passed though two semi-conductors that are connected each other at two junctions. The current drives a transfer of heat from one junction to the other. In this study, the thermoelectric module based on th "Peltier effect" was made by combing fullerene and polyaniline. Continuous temperature measurements on both surfaces were performed at room temperature($25.4^{\circ}C$) by an infrared non-contact thermometer. The results showed that cool ing effect of $2.2^{\circ}C$ was attained by 30 seconds, after which the effect was continuously vanished mainly due to electro decomposition.

  • This paper presents the investigation and development of heat exchangers incorporated with thermoelectric modules. Firstly, the characteristics of the modules themselves are evaluated with respect to the applied DC power. Then, the modules-based heat exchangers with an amplification apparatus to enhance cooling effects are designed and developed. The cooling performance of the proposed heat exchangers is experimentally investigated with respect to the magnitude and pattern of input DC power, along with cooling liquids. The results denote that the heat exchangers using thermoelectric modules can be effectively used in the field of the various cooling system.

  • We have replicated nanopillar arrays using injection molding process of active heating and cooling method by several peltier devices. The injection melding has a high accuracy ed good reproducibility that are essential for mass production at low cost. Conventional molding processes widely use the water-based mold heating and air cooling methods. However, in case of replication for nano-patterned structures, it caused several defects such as air-flow mark, non-fill, sticking and tearing. In this study, periodic nano-scale patterns are replicated by using injection molding with Peltier devices. Porous nano-scale patterns, which have pore diameter range from 120nm to 150nm, were fabricated by using anodizing process. Periodic nano-pore structures ( $20mm\;{\times}\;20mm$) were used as a mold stamp of injection molding. Finally, PMMA with nanopillar arrays was obtained by injection molding process. By using the Peltier devices, the temperature of locally adiabatic molds can be dramatically controlled and the quality of the molded patterns can be slightly improved.

  • Actuation using a shape memory alloy (SMA) is considered to be an important technology that will play a leading role in market for next-generation medical devices because an SMA actuator can accurately imitate skillful and delicate hand movements. However, SMA actuators have not been successfully used because of problems in control design caused by the nonlinear hysteresis effect of SMA, which leads to inaccuracies in control systems. In order to overcome the effect, the authors invented a SMA actuator, which could actively and rapidly cool down and heat up, by combining a SMA catheter and a TE module using the Peltier effect. In order to evaluate the TE characteristics of our TE module system, the changes in the temperature with 1) incremental increases in a continuous electric current and 2) the appearance of a discontinuous constant or reverse current are discussed in this paper.

  • In recent years, as the robot technology is developed the researches on the artificial muscle actuator that enable robot to move dextrously like biological organ become active. The widely used materials for artificial muscle are the shape memory alloy and the electroactive polymer. These actuators have the higher energy density than the electromechanical actuator such as motor. However, there are some drawbacks for actuator. SMA has the hysterical dynamic characteristics. In this paper the segmented binary control for reducing the hysteresis of SMA is proposed and the simulation of anthropomorphic robotic hand is performed using ADAMS.

  • This study is concerned with air-conditioning system in use of thermoelectric device. It is introduced that the well designed structures for better cooling & heating performance with high efficiency. And also it is performed that the system performance test of four types trial products for the use of hybrid commercial vehicle. System performance is affected by many component parts, especially heat sink design & power control method. It is applied that dual extrusive fin tube with buffer zone for the effective radiating of circulating liquid in tube. And also it is applied that power supply method with constant-current system. It is attained that system cooling capacity is 1.2kW, COP is 0.95.

  • The injection molding process has high accuracy and good reproducibility that are essential for mass production at low cost. Conventional molding processes typically use the water-based mold heating and air cooling methods. However, in the nano injection molding processes, this semi-active mold temperature control results in the several defects such as air-flow mark, non-fill, sticking and tearing, etc. In order to actively control temperature of the molds and effectively improve the quality of the molded products, the novel nano injection molding system, which uses active heating and cooling method, has been introduced. By using the Peltier devices, the temperature of locally adiabatic molds can be controlled dramatically and the quality of the molded patterns can be improved.

  • 통신기술이 1 세에서 5 세대로 발전하는 동안 해상물류의 핵심인 컨테이너는 기능상의 큰 발전없이 과거에 머물러 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 컨테이너의 위치 및 상태 정보를 수기로 관리하던 기존의 방식에서 벗어나 IoT 장비를 활용해 실시간 위치 파악, 상태 모니터링 및 자동화 등을 통해 물류의 가시성을 확보하고 컨테이너를 효율적으로 재배치함으로써 비용 절감 및 새로운 서비스 창출하기 위한 스마트 컨테이너를 제안한다. 부가적으로, 태양열판을 이용한 전원공급, 펠티어 소자를 이용한 냉방기능을 제공함으로써 신선 식품 배송의 핵심인 풀 코드 체인(Full Cold Chain) 플랫폼으로 활용범위를 넓히고자 한다.
