  • It is complicate and time-consuming process to classify a multi-band satellite imagery according to the application. In addition, classification rate sensitively depends on the selection of training data set and features in a supervised classification process. This paper introduced a classification network adopting a fuzzy-based $\gamma$-model in order to select a training data set and to extract feature which highly contribute to an actual classification. The features used in the classification were gray-level histogram, textures, and NDVI(Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) of target imagery. Moreover, in order to minimize the errors in the classification network, the Gradient Descent method was used in the training process for the $\gamma$-parameters at each code used. The trained parameters made it possible to know the connectivity of each node and to delete the void features from all the possible input features.

  • The mathematical models for GIS-based spatial data integration have been developed for geological applications such as mineral potential mapping or landslide susceptibility analysis. Among various models, the effectiveness of fuzzy logic based integration of multiple sets of geological data is investigated and discussed. Unlike a traditional target-driven fuzzy integration approach, we propose a data-driven approach that is derived from statistical relationships between the integration target and related spatial geological data. The proposed approach consists of four analytical steps; data representation, fuzzy combination, defuzzification and validation. For data representation, the fuzzy membership functions based on the likelihood ratio functions are proposed. To integrate them, the fuzzy inference network is designed that can combine a variety of different fuzzy operators. Defuzzification is carried out to effectively visualize the relative possibility levels from the integrated results. Finally, a validation approach based on the spatial partitioning of integration targets is proposed to quantitatively compare various fuzzy integration maps and obtain a meaningful interpretation with respect to future events. The effectiveness and some suggestions of the schemes proposed here are illustrated by describing a case study for landslide susceptibility analysis. The case study demonstrates that the proposed schemes can effectively identify areas that are susceptible to landslides and ${\gamma}$ operator shows the better prediction power than the results using max and min operators from the validation procedure.

  • In the existing fuzzy aggregation method, the operators such as t-norm, t conorm, mean operator, Yafer's operator and $\gamma$ operator are used to aggregate the values of membership functions. However, these methods have problems in that they do not reflect the decision situation properlyin the decision process. In order to solve these problems we suggest a situation assessment model(SAM) to reflect the decision situation in the decision proess. In the fuzzy decision environment, we propose a new aggregation method to reflect the decision situation using the result of SAM. We call it the aggregation based on situation assessment (ASA) method. It makes the stepwise aggregation with derection according to the decision situation. Moreover, we compare ASA method with the existing aggregation methods.
