The Effect of Puzzle System on Player's Level of Immersion and Engagement in Adventure Games (어드벤처 게임의 퍼즐 시스템이 플레이어의 게임 몰입과 참여도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study has made an in-depth analysis of the 'Puzzle System' which is a characteristic structural unit of the Adventure Game, and concentrates on the mechanism where the experience arouses in the player a 'desire (quasi-need) to finish' that leads to one's immersion and engagement in the game. In the course of conducting this study, documentary records were consulted and also this writer personally played video games to learn the component elements and fundamental characteristics of the Adventure Games and to experience how the player was immersed in the game. Thus, the Puzzle System in the Adventure Game was defined and an analysis was made of the structure and course of play where the puzzle part and the narrative part within the system organically interacted between them in the system. In order to confirm the formation and effects of 'desire to finish' shown in the hypothetic assumptions, two experiment-purpose game units were produced, one with dramatic cut scenes and the other without them, so that differences between them could be found. I also conducted an experiment to learn the generation and effect of the 'desire to finish' of the Puzzle elements by using different games with a varying degree of difficulty.

  • 본 논문은 어드벤처 게임의 몰입도를 향상시키기 위해 퍼즐요소를 추가해 개발한 게임 'Labyrinth'에 대해 다루고 있다. 'Labyrinth'는 지하유적을 탐험하며 함정을 피하고 퍼즐을 풀어 최종적으로 보물을 획득하는 게임이다. 본 논문에서는 액션 어드벤처 게임에 퍼즐요소를 추가하여 게임에 대한 사용자의 피로도를 감소시키고 몰입도를 향상시키도록 하였다.

  • The algorithm in computer science includes skills to design a problem solving process for solving problems efficiently and effectively. Therefore all learners who learn computer science have to learn algorithm. Education for algorithm is effective when learners acquire skills to design algorithm as well as ability to use appropriate design skills solving problems. Especially since it is heightened people awareness to cultivating informatics gifted students who have potential of significant impact on society, many studies on how to teach them have been in progress. Therefore in this study we adopted puzzles to help informatics gifted students learn skills to design algorithm and how to use them to solve problems. The results of pre and post test compared to traditional algorithm learning, we identified that puzzled based algorithm learning gave a positive impact to students. Students had various problem solving experience applying algorithm design skills in puzzle based learning. As a result, students of learning and learning transfer has been improved.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the number puzzle program and the mathematical creativity test and to analyze the effects of the mathematical creativity and the creative attitude in mathematics. To accomplish this aim, the six-grade students elementary school of thirty-six participated and this students participated Magic square, Sudoku, KenKen Puzzle activities in to the morning activity time for 30 minutes every morning and the pre-test of before activity and the post-test of after activity were collected. The number puzzle activity helps improve the mathematical creativity and the creative attitude in mathematics of the elementary school students and improve the mathematical creativity of for female students rather than for male students.

  • The numberlink puzzle(NLP), which non-crossings with other numbers of connection in connecting lines through empty cells between a given pair of numbers, is an NP-complete problem with no known way to solve the puzzle in polynomial time. Until now, arbitrary numbers have been selected and puzzles have been solved using trial-and-error methods. This paper converts empty cells into vertices in lattice graphs connected by edge between adjacent cells for a given problem. Next, a straight line was drawn between the pairs of numbers and divided into groups of numbers where crossing occurred. A bypass route was established to avoid intersection in the cross-number group. Applying the proposed algorithm to 18 benchmarking data showed that the puzzle could be solved with a linear time complexity of O(n) for all data.

  • In this paper, learning oriented puzzle game which based on combination of consonant and vowel of Korean alphabet is implemented. Firstly, consonants and vowels of Korean alphabet are classified separately, and then reconstructed a word in real time. Word combinator is utilized by API based edit window and, in order to effective retrieve, initial combined syllable consonant based method is involved. Implemented Korean puzzle game can be used for improving the words learning capability for children.

  • 뜻 (sense)과 지시체의 구별을 근간으로 하는 프레게류 의미론에 의하면, 같은 지시체를 갖는 이름들의 인지적 의미는 서로 다를 수 있다. 그 반면, 프레게의 뜻을 어떤 이름의 지시체를 결정함에 있어 매개적인 역할을 하는 존재자라 보고 단호히 거부하는 소위 직접 지칭론자들은 문맥에 관계없이 같은 지시체를 갖는 이름들은 동일한 인지적 의미를 갖는다고 주장한다. 그러나 일단 뜻을 배척하고나면, 명제 태도 문맥에서 왜 같은 지시체를 갖는 이름들이 대치될 수 없는지를 설명하기가 어렵고, 따라서 명제 태도의 퍼즐들은 직접 지칭론의 아킬레스건이 되어 왔다. 최근 Zalta는 다소의 수정을 통해 프레게와 직접 지칭론자 양자의 중요한 통찰들을 희생하지 않으면서 양자의 관점을 종합하는 것이 가능하며, 실제로 자신의 해결책은 명제 태도의 퍼즐들을 훌륭하게 해결해 준다고 주장한다. 본 논문은 Zalta의 절충안을 비판적으로 검토함으로써 선결되어야 할 쟁점들을 부각시키고자 한다.

  • In this paper through the implementation of cooperative learning using SDG, education puzzle actually applies to computer training. SDG(Single Display Groupware) which one computer display have a multi-input devices can work as a collaborative system. Learners are performing together through SDG-based cooperative learning system. SDG cooperative learning with a multi-input device is superior to traditional learning with individual. We have implementation of the puzzle game with this fact. This system through effective education and raising their children's education participation rate will be able to do.
