Natural gas through pipeline is supplied to consumers after its pressure gets down compulsorily. The waste pressure energy of this process can be restored by use of turbo expander which can produce electricity. So, turbo expander conducts two functions - pressure reduction and power generation. The power amount is the enthalpy difference between the inlet and outlet states. The five main factors which affect economic profit are facility price, produced power amount, pre-heating amount, electricity cost, and fuel gas cost. Power generation depends mainly on flow amount because inlet and outlet states are fixed. A methodology to estimate economy in irregular flow pattern is proposed and using this way, a case study was carried out.

In this study, the program for system analysis of an expander cycle rocket engine using liquid hydrogen as a fuel was developed. The properties of hydrogen were considered by the ratio of isomers with temperature. The analysis procedure was established with the open and closed types of the expander cycle engine and the simulation methods were suggested for each component. To validation of the analysis program, we compared the performance of the engine operating point and the analysis results performed overseas for Vinci and SE-21D, which are expander cycle engines. As a result of the analysis, the main performance factors of the system, such as the mass flow of the propellant, specific thrust, and power, except for some of the inaccurate input information, showed high accuracy with an error of around 1-2%.

A new control method to alleviate the impulsive noise at the exit of high-speed railway tunnel was applied to the compression wave at the entrance of the tunnel. This method uses the interaction phenomenon of unsteady expansion wave and unsteady compression wave. Unsteady expansion wave was assumed to be made instantaneously by the simple theory of shock tube. Total Variation Diminishing method was employed to solve the axisymmetric unsteady compressible flow field with a specified compression wave. Numerical results show that the maximum pressure gradient of the propagating compression wave decreases with increase of the wave length of the unsteady expansion wave. It is found that the impulsive noise reduction can be obtained when the unsteady expansion wave with a large wave length is emitted just before the train enters the tunnel. The present results give the possibility to reduce the impulsive noise at the exit of tunnel.

Turbopump, which is a part of 75 ton open cycle liquid rocket engine has a super sonic impulse turbine. This paper investigated the leading edge thickness effect on the turbine performance experimently. Two rotors were tested with the different leading edge thickness. The ratios (rotor thickness to Pitch) are 1.9 and 1.4 times to 30 ton turbine rotor. As a result, a rotor with 1.4 times ratio had a 1.5% higher efficiency gain than a rotor with 1.9 times ratio. The pressure ratio with the maximum efficiency on the same rotational speed was increased to the full expansion ratio of nozzle.

A 1-D system design program has been developed for the preliminary design of the turbopump system in liquid rocket engines, which use LOx and kerosene as propellants. Gasgenerator cycle and staged combustion cycle were considered as turbopump type liquid rocket engine systems. In the system analysis, mass flow balance, thrust, specific impulse, mixture ratios, turbopump power, and turbine expansion ratio of engine system were analyzed. Results show that most of the parameters agree well with real engine parameters except gasgenerator. Therefore, the l-D system design program developed in this study can be used to derive the preliminary design parameters of a turbopump with any thrust level liquid rocket engine.

The engine system for KSLV-II 3rd stage is pump-fed system, the thrust chamber has vacuum thrust of 6.9 tonf, vacuum specific impulse of 336.9 sec, chamber pressure of 70 bar, nozzle expansion ratio of 94.5, total propellant mass flow rate of 20.5 kg/s, mixture ratio(O/F) of 2.45. The thrust chamber consists of mixing head with 90 coaxial swirl injectors and regeneratively combustion chamber cooled by kerosene.
The normal cement concrete is widely used material to build the construction recently, but it has a fault to increase the dead load on account of its unit weight is large compared with strength. Therefore, many engineers are continuously searching for new materials of construction to provide greater performance at lower density. The main purpose of the work described in this paper were to establish the physical and mechanical properties of synthetic lightweight aggregate concrete using perlite on fine aggregate and expanded clay, pumice stone on coarse aggregate. The test results of this study are summarized that the water-cement ratio was shown 47% using expanded clay, 56% using pumice stone on coarse aggregate, unit weight was shown $l,622kgf/m^3$ using expanded clay, $l,596kgf/m^3$ using pumice stone on coarse aggregate, and the absorption ratio was shown same as 17%. The compressive strength was shown more than $228kgf/cm^2$, tensile and bending strength was more than $27kgf/cm^2$, $58kgf/cm^2$ at all types, and rebound number with schmidt hammer was increased with increase of compressive strength. The static modulus was $1.12{\times}10^5kgf/cm^2$ using expanded clay, $1.09{\times}10^5kgf/cm^2$ using pumice stone on coarse aggregate, and stress-strain curves were shown that increased with increase of stress, and the strain on the maximum stress was shown identical with $2.0{\times}10^{-3}$, approximately.

Recently, aluminum pipes have been used instead of steel pipes for open and shut machines in vinyl housing because of its corrosion-resistance and light weight. In particular, the light weight is very useful for fitting and removal by human resources. On the other hand, an aluminum pipe is weak in winter because aluminum has a larger thermal expansion coefficient than steel. This study examined the freezing and bursting of aluminum pipes by numerical analysis. The mechanical-thermal deformation characteristics were analyzed under the condition of ice volumetric expansion in aluminum pipes reaching 50%. From numerical analysis, large stresses above the yield stress occurred in aluminum pipe after ice expanded in the net diameter immediately. In addition, the freezing and bursting of aluminum pipes was predicted around an ice volumetric expansion of 6 - 7% because the thickness of the aluminum pipe reached an aluminum elongation ratio of 17%. Therefore, it is recommended that aluminum pipes be sealed perfectly to prevent water flow in the pipe. These results suggest that it is very difficult to prevent freezing and bursting of aluminum pipes by water freezing in the pipe.

It is very important to experimentally evaluate concrete behavior at elevated temperature because aggregates make up approximately 80 percent of volume in concrete. In this study, an experiment to evaluate mechanical properties of normal weight and light weight concrete of 60 MPa was conducted. Based on loading level of 0, 20 and 40 percent, the tests of 28 days compressive strength, elastic modulus, thermal strain, total strain, and transient creep using ${\phi}100{\times}200mm$ cylindrical specimens at elevated temperature were performed. Then, the results were compared with CEB (Committes Euro-international du Beton) model code. The results showed that thermal strain of light weight concrete was smaller than normal weight concrete. Also, the results showed that compressive strength of light concrete at $700^{\circ}C$ was higher than normal weight concrete and CEB code, similar to that obtained at ambient temperature. Transient creep developed from loading at a critical temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ caused the concrete strains to change from expansion to compression. The transient creep test result showed that internal force was high when the ratio of shrinkage between concrete and aggregate was more influential than thermal expansion.
The ratios of water and controlled low-strength materials (CLSM) were selected as 1:0.4, 1:0.6, 1:0.8, 1:1.0, and 1:1.2 to minimize the construction and long-term decrease in uniaxial compressive strength due to dry shrinkage through the combination of water, CLSM, and expansion agent. Approximately 2% and 5% of the expansion agent were added for each blending condition. As a result, it was found that the compressive strength decreased and the expandability increased as the specific gravity of the water increased. In addition, it was confirmed that the compressive strength increased rapidly up to 15 days of age compared to the CLSM used in the field. However, the compressive strength decreased compared to the 15 days of the age as of the 28 days of the age. It showed engineering characteristics similar to CLSM generally used in the field. Therefore, the water and the CLSM were mixed at a ratio of 1:0.8, and the field test was performed by adding 5% of an expansion agent. As a result, 28 days after age, the cavity waveform was observed using the handy GPR exploration system, and it was found that cavity waveform was relaxed or disappeared.
