  • The packing, among the components comprising the gate valve, is used to sustain the air-tightness and the study on change of shape or pattern has been carried out to maximize the functions, but the study on changing the location or the size of the packing in a bid to prevent the freezing has rarely been implemented. Thus, This study is intended to evaluate the thermal strain of packing by heat transfer from territory of extremely low temperature as well as the temperature distribution to the upper part of the packing using numerical analysis method.

  • The packing-free piston has become widely distributed in certain branches of instrument making and precision machine building. A large number of the most diversified instruments are now being constructed on the principle of the packing-free piston like piston manometers, vacuum manometers, hydraulic machines, dynamometers. hardness measuring instruments. power indicators, hydraulic scales, and many others. In spite of the widespread application of systems with a packing-free piston, there were practically no special papers to the theory and practice of the application of such systems. This paper describes the theoretical approaching method to get the pressure distribution profile between the piston and cylinder using finite element method.

  • The meshing of the domain has long been the major bottleneck in performing the finite element analysis. Research efforts which are so-called meshfree methods have recently been directed towards eliminating or at least easing the requirement for meshing of the domain. In this paper, a new meshfree method for solving nonlinear boundary value problem, based on the bubble packing technique and Delaunay triangle is proposed. The method can be efficiently implemented to the problems with singularity by using formly distributed nodes.

  • In this paper, we propose a new method for optimizing bit operations and applying them to DNN(Deep Neural Network) in software environment. As a method for this, we propose a packing function for bitwise optimization and a masking matrix multiplication operation for application to DNN. The packing function converts 32-bit real value to 2-bit quantization value through threshold comparison operation. When this sequence is over, four 32-bit real values are changed to one 8-bit value. The masking matrix multiplication operation consists of a special operation for multiplying the packed weight value with the normal input value. And each operation was then processed in parallel using a GPU accelerator. As a result of this experiment, memory saved about 16 times than 32-bit DNN Model. Nevertheless, the accuracy was within 1%, similar to the 32-bit model.

  • In this study, the stress applied to screw section, strain, displacement, von Mises stress, and the compression stress applied to the rubber packing for watertightness are estimated with computer simulation when the tightening torque of valve socket is in the range of $10{\sim}130N{\cdot}m$ in order to analyze the influence of valve socket screw section in accordance with the excessive tightening which is supposed to be the cause of water leakage from the synthetic resin piping for fire fighting application of sprinkler equipment, and for the sake of verifying this, adequate value of tightening torque and the value of the compression stress of rubber packing are investigated by examining the number of connected thread for each tightening torque, the deformation state of valve socket and rubber packing and conducting the water hammering test. The result of this test is expected to be utilized as the data required for revising the standard or technical criteria to prevent the water leakage of the synthetic resin piping for fire fighting application.

  • Traditional works on indexing have been suggested for low dimensional data under dynamic environments. But recent database applications require efficient processing of huge sire of high dimensional data under static environments. Thus many indexing strategies suggested especially in partitioning ones do not adapt to these new environments. In our study, we point out these facts and propose a new partitioning strategy, which complies with new applications' requirements and is derived from analysis. As a preliminary step to propose our method, we apply a packing technique on the one hand and exploit observations on the Minkowski-sum cost model on the other, under uniform data distribution. Observations predict that unbalanced partitioning strategy may be more query-efficient than balanced partitioning strategy for high dimensional data. Thus we propose our method, called CSP (Cyclic Spliced Partitioning method). Analysis on this method explicitly suggests metrics on how to partition high dimensional data. By the cost model, simulations, and experiments, we show excellent performance of our method over balanced strategy. By experimental studies on other indices and packing methods, we also show the superiority of our method.

  • CANopen which is one of the in-vehicle network (IVN) protocols is adopted to solve the hardware dependency problem of the CAN-based application. CANopen makes different CAN devices interoperable each others. By the advantage of the device profiling concept, it can make the period of developing CAN-based application system shorten. The utilization of CANopen network must be reduced to improve the communication performance (e.g. worst-case response time). For reducing network utilization, messages need to be packed as many as possible so that message frame overhead can be decreased. In this paper, we suggested a PDO packing mechanism using object dictionary (OD) and process data object (PDO) communication service in CANopen. Through experiments, the performance of the mechanism is evaluated with SAE benchmark. As a result, network utilization is decreased about 10% compared to the result of the previous works.

  • Malware infringement attacks are continuously increasing in various environments such as mobile, IOT, windows and mac due to the emergence of new and variant malware, and signature-based countermeasures have limitations in detection of malware. In addition, analytical performance is deteriorating due to obfuscation, packing, and anti-VM technique. In this paper, we propose a system that can detect malware based on machine learning by using similarity hashing-based pattern detection technique and static analysis after file classification according to packing. This enables more efficient detection because it utilizes both pattern-based detection, which is well-known malware detection, and machine learning-based detection technology, which is advantageous for detecting new and variant malware. The results of this study were obtained by detecting accuracy of 95.79% or more for benign sample files and malware sample files provided by the AI-based malware detection track of the Information Security R&D Data Challenge 2018 competition. In the future, it is expected that it will be possible to build a system that improves detection performance by applying a feature vector and a detection method to the characteristics of a packed file.
