Reference Interpolation Protocol for Reducing the Synchronization Messages in Wireless Sensor Network (무선 센서 네트워크에서 동기화 메시지 감소를 위한 참조 보간 프로토콜)

  • In wireless sensor network, to provide the proper responses quickly for diverse events, wireless sensor nodes have to cooperate with each other. For successful cooperation, the time synchronization among sensor nodes is an important requirement for application execution. In the wireless sensor network, the message packets including time information are used for the time synchronization. However, the transmission of many message packets will exhaust the battery of wireless sensor nodes. Since wireless sensor nodes works on the limited battery capacity, the excessive transmission of message packets has an negative impact upon their lifetime. In this paper, the Reference Interpolation Protocol (RIP) is proposed to reduce the number of message packets for the time synchronization. The proposed method performs the time interpolation between the reference packet's time and the global time of the base station. The proposed method completes the synchronization operation with only 2 message packets when compared to the previous Reference Broadcast Synchronization (RBS) technique. Due to the simple synchronization procedure, our method greatly reduces the number of synchronization messages and showed the 12.7 times less power consumption than the RBS method. From the decrease in the transmission of message packets, the convergence time among wireless sensor nodes is shortened and the lifetime of wireless sensor nodes is also prolonged as much as the amount of saved battery energy.

Transmission Performance of Application Traffics on High Speed Railway Communications (고속철도통신에서 응용 트래픽의 전송성능)

  • LTE-R mobile communication technology based on LTE is used to supply various signal and exchange information required for safety operation of train on high speed railway communication system. In this paper, transmission performance of application traffic which is transferred on high speed communication based on LTE-R is analyzed. And some suggestions for application traffic transmission of high speed railway communication will be considered. Computer simulation is used to analyze performance of CBR, VBR as application traffic. Throughput, delay and packet loss rate is used as performance measurement and analysis parameters.

  • Wi-Fi defines the procedure to search an AP, authenticate both station and AP, and associate the new BSS or ESS which enables the link layer handoff. One of the problems for hotspot service of Wi-Fi is "passing-object", Wi-Fi describes the messages exchanges between two neighboring APs in BSS or ESS. If the station passes through the neighboring APs before completing link-layer handoff, the path where the tunneled packets should be sent is lost. In this paper, we propose to integrate the positioning entity in a service domain to keep track the high-speed movement.

  • In order to realize Intelligent Transport System (ITS) without any road facilities support, Inter-vehicle Communication (IVC) is increased attention. IVC makes it possible to exchange real-time information among vehicles without centralized infrastructure. The IVC systems use multi-hop broadcast to disseminate information. In this paper, we propose the improved AODV routing protocol based on location information. The proposed AODV routing protocol transmits Hello packet with location information to calculate the distance between nodes. Then it achieves fast link recovery. We confirm the throughput performance of the proposed AODV routing protocol compared with the AODV routing protocol using Qualnet ver.3.8 simulator.

  • The development of multicast communication services in the Internet is expected to lead a stable packet transfer even though On-Line Games generate heavy traffic. The Core Based Tree scheme among many multicast protocols is the most popular and suggested recently. However, CBT exhibits two major deficiencies traffic concentration or poor core placement problem. Thus, measuring the bottleneck link bandwidth along a path is important to understand the performance of multicast. We propose a method in which the core router's state is classified into SS(Steady State), NS(Normal State) and BS(Bottleneck State) according to the estimated link speed rate, and also the changeover of multicast routing scheme for traffic overload. In addition, we introduce Anycast routing tree, an efficient architecture for constructing shard multicast trees.

  • IPsec offers not odd Internet security service such as Internet secure communication and authentication but also the safe key exchange and anti-replay attack mechanism. Recently IPsec is implemented on the various operating systems. But there is no existing tool that checks the servers, which provide IPsec services, work properly and provide their network security services well. In this paper, we design and implement the rule based security evaluation system for IPsec engine. This system operated on Windows and UNX platform. We developed the system using Java and C language.

  • In most computer networks, each node needs to have correct routing information for finding shortest paths to forward data packets. In a distributed environment, however, it is very difficult to keep consistent routing information throughout the whole network at all times. The presence of out-dated routing information can cause loop-forming which in turn causes the significant degradation of network performance. In this paper, a new class of routing algorithm for loop detection and resolution is discussed. The proposed algorithm is based on the distributed Bellman-Ford algorithm which is popularly adopted for routing in computer network. The proposed algorithm detects and resolves all kinds( two-node and multi-node) of loop in a distributed environment within finite time while maintaining the simplicity of the distributed Bellman-Ford algorithm.

  • In this paper, we develope the simulation model for Ethernet passive optical networks (Ethernet-PON) by using OPNET. Ethernet-PON is an emerging access network technology that provides a low-cost method of deploying optical access lines. The simulator uses a Request/Grant TDMA MAC protocol based on IEEE 802.3ah EFM. It also executes registration, ranging and dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm by exchanging control packets between OLT and ONUs. We have evaluated for success ratio of initial registration process and delay of late registration process. We also have simulated for dynamic TDMA protocol and static TDMA protocol in terms of channel utilization and queueing delay. We expect that this simulator can help to determine various parameters which are considered for designing Ethernet-PON system.

  • In this paper, we describe the intrabed network in a patient monitoring system we developed The intrabed network handles data communication between the main unit of a bedside patient monitor and parameter modules plugged in it. We designed the intrabed network based on RS-485 and HDLC protocol with 1 Mbps data rate. Message exchanges are implemented based on three data structures of packet frame. and stream. We present the specification and the performance of the data communication network for the developed patient monitor.

  • 위성통신 시스템은 기존의 지상망이나 광 케이블 기술에 비해 통신 대역폭의 유연성과 다중 접속능력, 이동통신, 광역성, 멀티포인트 및 브로드캐스팅 등의 본래의 특징으로 인해 초고속정보통신망 구축에 중요한 역할을 하게 된다. 특히 OBP (On-Board Processing) 기술을 적용하면 기존 위성통신 탑재장치의 수동적인 중계 기능 이외에 복조/재변조, 부호/복호화 및 오류정정, 중계기 및 빔간의 상호 연결/절체 등의 새로운 기능이 추가되어 능동적인 중계를 가능하게 함으로써 통신 품질의 향상, 통신 링크의 전송 효율 개선, 전송 용량 증대 등의 장점을 갖고있다. OBP 탑재 위성 B-IDSN 중계망은 하나의 거대한 가상 ATM 교환기로 간주되고, 여러중계 지구국들중 목적 중계 지구국으로 패킷들을 직접 라우팅 할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 본 논문은 OBP 탑재 위성 B-ISDN 연동 프로토콜 연구를 수행하는 것으로서, 위성 B-ISDN 구조와 각 지구국별 신호 기능 및 B-IDSN 신호 시스템인 DSS2 계층 3 신호 프로토콜, B-ISUP 프로토콜, S-BISUP 프로토콜의 구조를 분석하였다. 또한 점-대-다지점을 위한 B-ISDN의 연결과 소유권 및 각각의 프로토콜에 대한 메시지와 프리미티브를 정의하여, 이를 토대로 OBP 탑재 위성 B-IDSN 연동 프로토콜의 기본 호 처리 절차를 설계 및 구현하고, 이를 테스트하였다.
