패션 일러스트레이션은 빠르게 변화하는 현대의 생활환경에서 예술과 산업의 여러 분야에 응용되어 폭이 넓어지고 있다. 실물이 없어서 사진으로 표현하기 어려운 분야, 특히 앞서가는 유행경향을 표현해야 하는 트랜드 북(trend book) 등에서 많이 활용되고 있다. 학계와 패션 업계에서는 점차 패션 일러스트레이션의 중요성을 인식하여 단순히 의복제작과 연결되는 설명도로서의 패션 일러스트레이션 뿐만 아니라 복식 전반의 이미지 전달을 위한 표현을 폭 넓게 연구하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 독특한 표면 재질 효과를 통하여 현대 패션의 복합적인 이미지 전달을 위하여 포토몽타주를 응용한 패션 일러스트레이션을 연구하였다. 연구의 내용 및 방법은 국내외 도서자료와 논문을 통해 패션 일러스트레이션과 포토몽타주에 대한 문헌조사를 하였으며, 패션의 복합적인 이미지 전달을 중심으로 총 5점의 실물을 제작하였다.

오늘날 현대 패션 산업은 4차 산업혁명과 함께 AR(Augmented Reality), VR(Virtual Reality), 메타버스(Metaverse) 등의 신기술을 활용한 디지털 패션 산업이 점차로 확대되고 있다. 이에 따라 패션디자인 교육 분야에서도 VR 기술을 활용한 새로운 형태의 패션일러스트레이션이 하나의 새로운 표현 방법으로 관심을 끌고 있다. 최근 들어 패션디자인전공대학 교육 현장에서는 아이패드와 같은 디지털 도구의 활용이 점차로 증가하고 있으며 패션일러스트레이션 작업 과정에서 새로운 디지털 도구에 대한 학생들의 흥미도 지속해서 높아지고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 패션 산업에서 상용화와 대중화가 되고 있는 VR 기술을 활용한 패션일러스트레이션을 구현해보고, 아이패드로 완성한 패션일러스트레이션과 비교하여 그 차별화되는 특징을 분석함으로써 새로운 표현 도구로서 VR 기술의 패션일러스트레이션에 활용 가능성 및 제한점을 살펴보았다. 본 연구를 통하여 VR은 패션디자인의 입체적 측면에서의 구상과 전체적인 연결성을 표현하기 위한 패션일러스트레이션에는 긍정적인 도움이 되는 것으로 나타났으며 아이패드는 구체적이고 섬세한 패션일러스트레이션 표현에 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과가 학생들의 흥미와 성취도를 높일 수 있는 패션일러스트레이션 교육에 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다.

사진기술의 발달은 한 때 융성했던 패션 일러스트레이션의 판도를 바꾸어 놓았으며, 컴퓨터 기술의 발달은 사진이 갖는 한계성을 재편집하기에 이르렀다. 이제 사진과 일러스트레이션은 컴퓨터라는 매체를 통해 그 경계를 허무는 상황에 이르렀고, 이러한 현상은 과거 전통적인 패션 일러스트레이션이 갖는 표현적인 특징에 고무되는 경향을 보이고 있다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 이 같은 시대적 요구를 기초로 20세기 패션 일러스트레이션에서 나타난 의습선에 대한 표현적 특징에 관하여 연구하고자 한다. 그러므로 연구의 내용은 첫째, 의습선의 개념을 이해하며, 둘째, 동 서양의 회화에서 나타난 의습선의 특징을 고찰하며, 셋째, 20세기 패션 일러스트레이션의 흐름을 파악하고, 넷째, 20세기 패션 일러스트레이션에서 나타난 의습선의 특징을 연구 분석하는데 있다.

일러스트레이션은 사회성과 대중성이란 특성으로 말미암아 각종 교육, 출판, 그림동화, 리플릿, 광고, 잡지, 패션, 캘린더, 팸플릿, 팬시, 애니메이션, 게임 캐릭터 등의 매체에 활용되고 있다. 일러스트레이터는 작가 개인의 정서뿐만 아니라 사회와 가치, 생각, 감각, 감정, 정신, 이상향 등을 형상화하여 대중들과 커뮤니케이션을 그 목적으로 작품을 제작한다. 본 연구는 한 중 여자 일러스트레이션 비교 분석을 통해 국가별 여자 일러스트레이션의 유사점과 차이점을 분석하고 그 이유에 대한 이론적인 배경을 찾아내는데 그 목적이 있다.

20세기초의 패션지에는 폴 푸아레(Paul Poiret, 1880-1944)가 머릿속의 디자인을 조르주 르파프(Georges Lepape)나 폴 이리브(Paul Iribe; 1883-1935)와 같은 실력있는 아티스트들에게 그리게 한 패션 플레이트가 첨부되었다. 그것은 디자이너의 환상이 아티스트의 환상으로 연동해간 결과, 이중의 꿈을 꾼 패션화로서 나타나게 되었다. 이 시대의 패션은 꿈을 실현하는 아트였다.(중략)

This study has established a fashion illustration education plan using the contour drawing that fosters observational ability and enables creative drawing. This study developed two illustration curriculum proposals consisting of 15 weeks, combining literature and case studies. The researchers organized a step-by-step teaching plan that utilizes contour drawing according to the three stages of fashion illustration classes: foundation courses, general courses, and intensive courses. When the contour drawing is used at the beginning stage of the foundation courses of fashion illustration, it can be used as a technique to reduce the fear of students about practical skills, induce interest in illustration, and cultivate observation ability about objects. In general process, it is combined with various tools and coloring materials to strengthen expression power, and it is possible to produce detailed expressions and illustrations about human body and clothing. In intensive courses, it is expanded to the production of creative works with new aesthetics through digital techniques and mixed materials. As such, the contour drawing is expanded in various ways according to the learning contents and goals of each step, and is flexibly adjusted according to the learning content. Contour drawing has the effect of acquiring observation and expression ability, and it is analyzed as a technique that enables the production of creative illustration of students.

This study focuses on the analysis of body images appearing in the fashion illustrations since the 1990's and thereby attempts to determine relationship between their expressional features and aesthetic values in reference to theory of post-structuralism. Especially among numerous post-structuralist, Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze/Felix Guattari, and Julia Kristeva set unique arguments on body, which provide valuable leads to decipher the image of body. For that reason, body images shown in the fashion illustration are categorized into grotesque body, fragmented body, humanoid body, and post-gendered body, and reviewed their characteristics and aesthetic values based on critics of above three scholars. Findings are summarized as follows: First, image of body entails meaning of an resistance of traditional social concepts and order, and second it serves the purpose of creating a new and unique sense. Finally, it is not an object of representation of physical facts, but rather a representation of the real itself, apart from presenting the original material. Given arguments enhance understanding of images of body in fashion illustration in a broader sense.

Fashion Illustration has become a key method in expressing Fashion, and is being applied in various fields of the modern world, where changes are so rapid that prescribing trends are meaningless. Fashion Illustration was stimulated through progress of wood block printing and development of printing techniques, and grew with fashion magazines. Fashion Illustration advanced along with the appearance of newspapers and magazines that were emerged due to historical demands such as development of printing techniques, spacial spread of human life, obliteration of traditional societies, diffusion of education systems, progress in postal systems, and appearance of commercial broadcast. Fashion Illustration showed growth and decline along with the influence of mass media such as magazines and photography, and the general publics demand. In this study, the author reviews Le Nouvau Mercure Galant, the magazine that first dealt with Fashion Illustrations. The author analyses the magazine in six stages of formation, growth, revolution, golden-age, decline, and reconstruction, to develope a theoretical analysis of Fashion Illustration and to give direction of use of Fashion Illustration in the future.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the expression characteristics of creative fashion illustration based on the theory of creativity by using the conceptual ideas related to visual expression in the theory of creativity of R. Bernstein. The contents of the study were theoretical basis of creativity theory and R. Bernstein's creative thinking tool. A specific checklist applying 13 creative thinking tools was developed to analyze individual cases and characteristics of creative thinking tools applied to visual arts and fashion illustrations. As a result, the application of a creative thinking method by the utilization, transformation and integration of R. Bernstein's thought tool yielded creative thinking about fashion illustration and the value of improvement creativity that can expand expression areas.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the types of aesthetic characteristics and their expression methods in the goth style expressed with the sensibility of an illustrator, using the work of Toon Hertz as an example. As a research method for this purpose, previous studies and books were used to examine the components of fashion illustration, the concept and aesthetic characteristics of goth style, and the world of Toon Hertz's work. In the qualitative studies, Toon Hertz's works were collected and the characteristics of each component were analyzed. As a result of analyzing the aesthetic characteristics, Distortion appeared as the main element of the human body, and the human body was distorted through the method of combining the human body with animals, plants, and other objects. History was mainly expressed through fashion elements. Victorian clothing was predominant, the color was mainly black, and it was characterized by decorations, such as fancy laces, corsets, and shirrings. The screen layout and the object components appeared as the main components of mystery. Sensuality was a major component of the human body, and it emphasized decadent and sensual images of a woman sitting with both legs apart or placing her hands on her legs or chest. Fear was the main component of the human body, and strangeness and fear were created by omitting or removing parts of the body, such as women's arms, legs, hands, or eyes.
