  • We propose a pilot hopping scheme that improves the limited system capacity due to pilot contamination in multi-cell environment with large-scale antenna arrays at a base station, assuming the infinite number of antennas. In the conventional fixed pilot scheme, each user obtains the same signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) over a long period of time. Therefore, a user with strong interference has continuously low SIR which degrades its service quality. In the proposed pilot hopping scheme, different pilot signals are used for each time slot, and different amounts of interference are received every time. When such a pilot hopping technique is applied, the SIR fluctuates at every time slot. When the Hybrid Automatic Repeat & reQuest (HARQ) technique is applied in such a channel, the outage probability and transmission rate are improved. We show that there is the performance gain of the proposed scheme over the conventional scheme through computer simulations.

  • In this paper, we propose a practical iterative channel estimation and decoding method for an LDPC-coded frequency hopping OFDMA system in the uplink of a packet-based cellular system. In the method, the channel gain and noise variance are iteratively estimated with both pilot symbols and LDPC decoder outputs to provide more reliable decoding metrics in intercell interference (ICI) environments. In addition, the channel correlation coefficient is also estimated to select proper filter coefficients according to the channel variation rate. Through simulations under the various channel conditions and different receiver configurations, it is shown that the proposed iterative receiver improves the performance without boosting the pilot power and mitigates the adverse effects of the non-uniform ICI.

  • It is important to use the comb type pilot allocation for the continuous channel and efficient processing. And DFT-spreading OFDM is used a lot to solve high PAPR problem of OFDM system. However, PAPR is increased again when comb type pilot is used to estimate channel characteristics. So, in this paper, we employ a new SLM method to DFT-spreading OFDM system to reduce increased high PAPR. And we suggest an effective method to transmit side information without additional bandwidth. Pilot and side information must be preserved from jamming or intentional interferences since those are very important in DFT spread OFDM system using SLM. So, in this paper, we like to analyze and simulate the performance of DFT spread OFDM system based on SLM against jamming signal. To remedy the vulnerable shortcomings of DFT spread OFDM about jamming or intentional interferences, we employ FH(Frequency Hopping) method and analyze system performance under the several jamming conditions such as MTJ(Multi Tone Jamming) and PBJ(Partial Band Jamming).
