Computational study on prediction of electrical beam steering phenomenon of parametric array sound source (파라메트릭 어레이 음원의 전기적 빔 조향 현상 예측을 위한 수치 해석 기법 연구)

  • The parametric array phenomenon refers to the generation of a high directivity low frequency wave from a small size radiation plate using the nonlinearity of the medium. In order to improve the usability of parametric array, the beam steering method of low frequency wave is researched, and the beam steering phenomenon is predicted easily using the PD (product directivity) model. However, the PD model can only be applied to Gaussian sources under quasi-linear conditions. Also, the prediction accuracy of low frequency wave beam width is poor. In this paper, a method for predicting the beam steering characteristics of a parametric array that can overcome the limitation of the PD model is investigated. For this purpose, the numerical analysis algorithm of the KZK (Khokhlov-Zabolotskaya-Kuzentsov) equation widely used for parametric array phenomenon prediction is improved. Thus, the beam steering characteristics are calculated by applying the electrical beam steering condition and comparing experimental results. As a result, the numerical analysis using the modified KZK equation algorithm in this study confirms that the beam steering phenomenon can be predicted even in a parametric array source that does not correspond to the quasi-linear condition.

  • Modern society needs constantly the rationality and the efficiency, and this flow of the time has become the paradigm of the whole society. This paradigm has a large influence on the architectural design and industry. Modern technology represented by the development of digital instrument and Information Technology through internet has created and developed two big trend, Parametric Design and BIM(Building information Modeling) in the architectural design and industry. These technologies, though created for different reasons, have a lot of influence on the architectural design and industry for a common purpose such as efficiency and rationality across the boundaries. In this context, this research will be embodied through the example about how parametric design should be made in the beginning of pre-design phase for BIM application. This research aims to consider the design process of Walt Diseny Consert Hall, the work of Frank O. Ghery, a deconstructivism architect, and to embody the shape of National Nederlanden Building in Prague, the Czech Republic, using parametric design tool in pre-design phase. This research later aims to be used as the basic data that can be applied to the entire architectural industry from a planning and a detailed design to a construction for the ultimate BIM application beyond the range of parametric design in pre-design phase. Later, the plan using the parametric design algorithm and BIM application in construction document phase will be conducted.

  • 파라메트릭 라우드스피커(parametric loudspeaker)는 초음파의 지향성 발생 특성과 발생된 초음파의 비선형 전파 현상을 이용하여 간접적으로 가청음을 발생시키는 기술을 이용한다. 이를 이용하면 소리를 직진 형태로 전파 시킬 수 있기 때문에 원하는 영역에만 음향 신호를 전달할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 파라메트릭 라우드스피커의 연구 진행 상황을 간략히 살펴보고, 현재 이 분야에서 가장 실용적인 초음파 발생기 방식으로 알려진 압전 필름형 초음파 발생기의 디자인 기술과 이를 적용한 파라메트릭 라우드스피커에 관하여 논한다. 그리고 이러한 스피커 시스템이 실용화되기 위해 해결해야 하는 문제점을 살펴본다.

  • The purpose of this study is to implement modeling by applying the parametric technique to the atypical trusses of rigid retractable large space structures. The retractable large space structure requires a lot of time and skill in modeling nonlinear shapes or generating, interpreting, and reviewing many models by alternative. To solve these problems, we introduce firstly parametric modeling tool, secondly, we analyze the connection of atypical three-dimensional trusses of a rigid retractable large-space structure, and finally model it as parametric components of the developed trusses. Therefore, it is a future study to make effective modeling of the openable roof by developing the components that can realize the modeling of the truss classified by the opening and closing method, respectively.

Design and Development Research of a Parametric Array Transducer for High Directional Underwater Communication (고지향 수중 통신을 위한 파라메트릭 어레이 트랜스듀서의 설계 및 개발 연구)

  • A parametric array is a nonlinear phenomenon that generates a narrow beam of low-frequency sound using the nonlinearity of the medium. The low-frequency sound so generated has a low sound pressure compared with that of sound generated directly. Consequently, a transducer that can generate a primary wave with high directivity and level is required. This study designed, fabricated, and evaluated a multi-resonance transducer as a parametric array source. The designs of the unit transducers and array transducer were based on an analysis model. The design process was repeated to fabricate the optimum transducer. The fabricated transducer array can generate a 189 dB, 190 dB primary wave level at 6.3 m and a 134 dB difference frequency wave using the parametric array phenomenon. The difference frequency wave has a frequency of 15 kHz and high directivity with an $8^{\circ}$ half power beam width in a $12{\times}18{\times}10m$ water tank.

  • This study proposes a parametric modeling method for efficient preliminary design of FCM(Free Cantilever Method) bridge. The method is capable of automatic fitting of cross section according to variation of span length of box girder which has variational section. Parameters for forming longitudinal geometry of box girder are defined, then implicit and explicit constraints, and functional relations among them are defined by applying statistics of parameters used in FCM bridge designs. The constraints and relations are applied to a sample bridge for verifying applicability of parametric modeling. In addition, material quantity of the sample model generated by parametric modeling is estimated and compared to the quantity of the real designed model to check the accuracy of the automatically designed parametric model.

Alleviation of Vanishing Gradient Problem Using Parametric Activation Functions (파라메트릭 활성함수를 이용한 기울기 소실 문제의 완화)

  • Deep neural networks are widely used to solve various problems. However, the deep neural network with a deep hidden layer frequently has a vanishing gradient or exploding gradient problem, which is a major obstacle to learning the deep neural network. In this paper, we propose a parametric activation function to alleviate the vanishing gradient problem that can be caused by nonlinear activation function. The proposed parametric activation function can be obtained by applying a parameter that can convert the scale and location of the activation function according to the characteristics of the input data, and the loss function can be minimized without limiting the derivative of the activation function through the backpropagation process. Through the XOR problem with 10 hidden layers and the MNIST classification problem with 8 hidden layers, the performance of the original nonlinear and parametric activation functions was compared, and it was confirmed that the proposed parametric activation function has superior performance in alleviating the vanishing gradient.

  • DVD/BD 및 HDTV의 보급으로 인해 다수의 오디오 컨텐츠들이 멀티채널(5.1채널 이상) 형식으로 제작되고 있다. 오디오 정보를 담고 있는 물리적인 채널의 수가 증가하면, 이에 따라 정보량도 선형적으로 증가하게 된다. 선형적으로 증가된 정보를 기존의 오디오 코덱을 이용해 큰 압축할 경우, 압축에 필요한 비트레이트의 선형적인 증가를 피할 수 없다. 최근 채널 수 증가로 야기되는 비트레이트의 증가를 최소화하고 효율적으로 멀티채널 오디오 신호를 압축할 수 있는 방법으로 MPEG surround와 같은 파라메트릭 멀티채널 오디오 코딩 방식이 제안되었다. 파라메트릭 멀티채널 오디오 코딩 방식의 경우, 멀티채널 오디오 신호를 채널 수가 감소된 다운믹스 신호와 다운믹스 신호로부터 다시 멀티채널 오디오 업믹스 하는데 필요한 파라미터로 표현하는 방식이다. 따라서 다운믹스 방식 및 업믹스에 필요한 파라미터에 따라 업믹스된 멀티채널 오디오 신호의 품질이 달라진다. 본 논문에서는 MPEG surround에서 사용하고 있는 기존의 ITU-R 다운믹스 방식의 문제점을 실제 멀티채널 오디오 신호의 사례를 통해 제시하고 이 문제점을 해결하기 위한 새로운 다운믹스 방식과 파라미터를 제안하고자 한다.

  • A parametric transformer, as static power converter operating on the principle of parametric excitation, is analysed. For the purpose of quantitative analysis of device, the mathematical model of the device is derived. On the basis of this model, the performances of the parametric transformer, such as over and under voltage protection, overload protection, bilateral filtering and frequency multiplication, are obtained quantitatively and analysed qualitatively.
