Study on the Dosimetry and Assessment of Terrestrial Radiation Exposure (지각 방사선에 의한 피폭선량측정 및 해석)

  • For the quantitative evaluation and assessment of radiation exposure from terrestrial component of natural environmental radiation, successive thermoluminescence dosimetry and periodical in-situ gamma ray spectrometry were carried out for a period of 24 months. LiF PTFE dise TLDs and $3&{\phi}{\times}3'$cylindrical NaI(Tl)scintill ation detector in association of portable multichannel analyzer (4096 ch) were used in this study. The doses measured were evaluated and assessed in terms of effective dose equivalent. As a concomitant output, the dose equivalent due to ionizing component of cosmic ray was able to be evaluated. According to the results obtained in terms of variance weighted mean, the annual effective dose equivalents of terrestrial gamma ray and cosmic ray ionizing component in Taejeon area came out to be $564{\pm}4\;{\mu}Sv(64.8{\pm}0.5nSv{\cdot}h^{-1}$ and $300{\pm}2\;{\mu}Sv(34.3{\pm}0.2nSv{\cdot}h^{-1}$, respectively, which are reasonable comparably with that appeared in UNSCEAR Report[28]as per caput annual effective dose equivalent in 'areas of normal background radiation'.

  • 에너지 해외의존도 97%, 무역의존도 70%인대한민국. 우리는하루220만배럴, 연간8억배럴이상을소비한다. 부존자원이 극도로 빈약한 우리나라가 나아가야 할 길은자명하다. 에너지 자원을 거의수입해 의존하다보니 이를고부가화 해 내수에 돌리면서 최우선으로 수출을 통해 온나라가 먹고 살고 있다해도 과언이아니다. 해외 에너지자원을 안정적으로 확보하는 것이 바로 국가경쟁력의 근원이 되는것은 어제오늘의 일이 아니다. 고유가 파고를 헤쳐나가야 한다는 절박한현실에서안정적인 에너지자원확보를 위한 정부의 해외자원분야 정책 및 민관전략이 올들어 의욕적으로 전개되고 있다. 우선정부는 자원개발 업무를 강화하기 위해 현재1과1팀의 자원개발조직을 보강하 고유전개발팀을 신설하는 등 모두3개팀으로 늘린다. 나아가 해외 자원확보에주력 산업 동반진출도 착착진행하고 있다. 국내 자원 개발 기업과 에너지관련기업, 해외진출기관등 14곳으로 구성된 ‘에너지산업해외진출협의회’도 최근 출범시켰다. 유전을탐사하거나 개발하는데 개인들도간접투자할수있는 ‘유전개발펀드’도 7월에 첫 선을 보인다. 약2000억원규모의이 시범펀드 도입 등을 통해 자원개발을 가속화,2013년까지원유-가스자주개발률을18%(원유15%, 가스30%)까지 끌어 올릴 계획이며 여기에16조원 신규투자가 소요 될 것으로보고있다. 이같은 일련의 공격적인 움직임은 단순히 돈을 주고 자원을 사오는 기존방식을 앞으로는과감히탈피,자원부국이 원하는 산업인프라등을 수주해제 공한뒤 그 대가로자원을 확보하는 총체적 자원확보전략에 무게를두겠다는 의지를 담고 있어 고무적이다. 여기에 다원유 등 수입원자재 가격이 급등세를 보이고있는 가운데 우리나라의 해외 자원개발사업이 활기를 띠고있다.석유공사는 민간기업들과 함께 지난해에만 예멘2곳 등 전세계 5개국9곳의 석유 및 천연가스 광구계약을체결, 올들어 최근참여사들과 함께 주주간계약 서명식을 갖고본격적인 사업을 추진 중이다. 광업진흥공사역시 SK네트웍스와제휴, 최근 전체 매장량이650만t으로 추정되는 중국 후난성의 아연광 탐사권을 획득, 합작 사설립계약을 체결한 것으로 알려지고 있다. 민간기업들도 해외자원분야진출이 활발하다. 기업들의 해외 자원개발을 위한 투자규모도 늘어 올해38개 해외 자원개발기업이 32개국 211개 사업에 모두31억달러를 투자할 계획인것으로 나타났다. 이에본지는 올해 들어서도 고유가의 지속으로 속증하고 있는에너지수입동향과 해외 자원 개발의 현실과 문제점, 개선방향, 나아가 최근 안전적인 자원확보를 위한 동향을 진단해본다.

Reliability Analysis for Fracture of Concrete Armour Units (콘크리트 피복재의 단면파괴에 대한 신뢰성 해석)

  • A fracture or breakage of the concrete armor units in the primary cover layer of breakwaters is studied by using the reliability analysis which may be defined as the structural stability. The reliability function can be derived as a function of the angle of rotation that represents the rocking of armor units quantitatively. The relative influences of all of random variables related to the material and geometric properties on the fracture of armor units is analyzed in detail. In addition, the probability of failure for the fracture of individual armor unit can be evaluated as a function of the incident wave height. Finally, Bernoulli random process and the allowable fracture ratio may be introduced together in this paper, by which the probability of failure of a breakwater due to the fracture of armer units can be obtained straightforwardly. It is found that the probability of failure of a breakwater due to the fracture of armor units may be varied with the several allowable fracture ratios. Therefore, it should be necessary to consider the structural stability as well as the hydraulic stability for the design of breakwaters with multi-leg slender concrete armor units of large size under wave action in deep water.

Boussinesq Modeling of a Rip Current at Haeundae Beach (Boussinesq 방정식 모형을 이용한 해운대 이안류 수치모의)

  • The rip current occurred at Haeundae beach was numerically investigated under directional random wave environment. The numerical simulation was performed using a fully nonlinear Boussinesq equation model, FUNWAVE which is capable of simulating nearshore circulation since it includes the effect of wave-induced momentum flux and horizontal turbulent mixing. The results of numerical simulation show the time-dependent evolution of the wave-induced nearshore circulation system (including rip current) that are caused by nonlinear transformation of directional irregular waves due to unique topography of Haeundae. From the results, it was found that rip current is well generated and developed where relatively lower wave height and relatively deeper water depth along the longshore direction, and sudden and strong events of rip current were observed.

  • Steel plate bonding method with epoxy is common applied to repair and strengthen RC structures, but Steel is apt to corrode quickly, hard to manufacture and heavy. To overcome these defects, it is carried out research on strengthening RC structures with FRP(Fibre Reinforced Polyrner/Plastic) FRP is generally used in the shape of Plate or Sheet, but it has weak point such as premature failure, difficult work. To cope with these problem, NSMR(Near Surface Mounted Reinforcement) which uses CFRP in the shape of Rod is proposed and carried out active research on strengthening effect of variables such as quantity, anchorage length and space of CFRP-Rod. Strengthening with CFRP-Rod is carried out under loading to some degree in fact, and so the amount of pre-loading is selected as variable in this research. The amount of pre-loading is chosen in proportion to nominal strength of non-strengthened specimen with CFRP-Rod.

Changes in Corrosion Rate of Gas Turbine Engines by the Korean Sea Area (우리나라 해역별 가스터빈엔진 부식률의 변화)

  • The sea of the Korean peninsula has various marine changes, including naval vessels, naval operational aircrafts, air force fighters, coastal airports and airfields. In particular salt directly affected by the marine environment, equipment operating in a high temperature / high speed as the gas turbine is the high temperature corrosion(Hot Corrosion) caused by sulfur components and salinity of the fuel used. When the height of the demister (air intake) is less than 7m, the salinity entering the sea increases and the corrosion increases rapidly. In addition, the weapon systems operating in the East Sea than the West Sea showed a 17% increase in corrosion rate due to the relatively high salinity scattered by saline, wind, and wave. In order to minimize the salinity inflow, it should be operated at more than 13m from the sea to minimize rapid hot corrosion.

Verification of Calculated Hydrodynamic Forces Acting on Submerged Floating Railway In Waves (파랑 중 해중철도에 작용하는 유체력 계산 및 검증)

  • In order to rationally design a new conceptual submerged floating railway, prediction of wave forces applied to the structure is very important. In this paper, equations to calculate such forces based on hydrodynamic theories were proposed and model tests were carried out. Inertia forces and drag forces, calculated using Morison's equation and the linear small amplitude wave theory, were in good agreement with the results from model tests conducted in a wave making tank. Drag forces were negligible compared with inertia forces. Also, wave forces showed linear variation with the changing wave heights. It was revealed that the linear wave theory and Morison's equation can give a simple and useful solution for the prediction of wave forces in the initial design stage of a submerged floating railway.

Evaluation of Stability of Quay Wall Considering Overtopping of Tsunami (지진해일파의 월파를 고려한 해안안벽의 안정성평가)

  • This study was conducted to estimate the stability of a quay wall in case of wave overtopping under the combined action of an earthquake and tsunami using limit equilibrium method. The tsunami force was calculated by using a numerical program called TWOPM-3D (3-D one-field Model for immiscible TWO-Phase flows). Especially, the wave force acting behind the quay wall after a tsunami wave overtopping was estimated by treating back fill as a permeable material. The stability of the quay wall was assessed for both the sliding and overturning modes under passive and active conditions. The variation in the stability of the quay wall with time was determined by parametric studies, including those for the tsunami wave height, seismic acceleration coefficient, internal friction angle of the soil, wall friction angle, and pore water pressure ratio. When the earthquake and tsunami were considered simultaneously, the tsunami induced wave overtopping increased the stability of the quay wall under the passive condition, but in the active condition, the safety factors decreased.

Low Complexity PTS Scheme for Reducing PAPR in OFDM Systems (직교 주파수 분할 다중화 시스템에서 최대 전력 대 평균전력의 비 감소를 위한 저 복잡도 부분 전송 수열 방법)

  • In this paper, the PTS scheme generate alternative orthogonal frequency frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal sequences by multiplying all the time domain samples with phase rotating vectors to find an OFDM signal having the minimum peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). However, it needs an exhaustive search which causes large computational complexity. In order to solve this problem, we propose two efficient methods based on the crest factor. The first proposed scheme is to select time domain sample with large magnitude to calculate PAPR, and the next scheme is to calculate the absolute value of real and imaginary part of the sample at each subblock. The simulation results show that the proposed schemes achieve better PAPR reduction performance than existing PTS schemes.

New Diagnostic Technique and Device for Lightning Arresters by Analyzing the Wave Height Distribution of Leakage Currents (누설전류의 파고분포 분석에 의한 새로운 피뢰기 진단기술 및 장치)

  • Lightning arresters are deteriorated by repetition of protective operation against overvoltages or impulse currents in environments of its use. If a deteriorated arrester is left in power lines, it can lead to an accident such as a line to ground fault even in a normal system. Therefore, it is necessary to eliminate the deteriorated arrester in advance by checking the soundness of arresters on a regular basis, and to ensure the reliability of power systems by preventing accidents. Various deterioration diagnostic techniques and devices are suggested, and most of which measure leakage current components as an indicator of arrester ageing. However, the techniques based on the magnitude of leakage current measure simply RMS or peak value of leakage current components and do not provide detailed information needed in the diagnosis. In this study, we found that the wave height distributions of the total leakage currents are remarkably changed or a new wave height are produced with the progress of arrester deterioration. To propose a new technique for the diagnosis, we designed a leakage current detection unit and an analysis program which can measure leakage current magnitudes and analyze wave height distributions. From the experimental results, we confirmed that the proposed technique by analyzing the wave height distribution can simply diagnose the mode of defects such as a partial damage and an existence of punctures in arresters as well as deterioration of arresters.
