Technologies related scan-to-BIM for BIM-based reverse engineering techniques are beginning to be actively introduced in the A.E.C. industry, and the scalability of the technology is growing considerably. This study uses patent analysis based on objective data to find the right direction for Korean Scan-to-BIM technology by identifying the trends in Korea, the United States, Europe, and Japan. This was done using the WIPSON patent search system to find previous research on patent analysis related to building technology, theoretical consideration of scan-to-BIM technology, and published patents. We collected information, verified the process, and extracted valid patents. We used the effective patent data to analyze the annual trend of patent applications, national trends, and technological trends through the International Patent Classification (IPC) code, the types of the top 20 major applicants, and family patent trends.

Geophysical prospecting technologies are employed to environmental site assessments and monitoring, subsurface investigation, geologic hazard monitoring since they are able to provide information and imaging regarding the subsurface. In this study, we carried out several analysis on patent documents for the geophysical prospecting technologies. The patents including abstracts, claims and drawings from 1976 up to 2005 were surveyed and 904 patents were collected finally. The patents were investigated as to countries, years, assignees and technologies. Furthermore, we carried out the comparative analysis for technological level of assignee countries with United States patents. The top 5 assignee countries are United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Norway and France. Especially United States and United Kingdom play important role in this area as holding 663 patents.

하이브리드 자동차 기술 분야에서 한국의 현대자동차가 575건으로 가장 많은 등록특허를 보유한 것으로 나타났으며, 일본의 TOYOTA MOTOR가 565건의 특허를 보유하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 주요 출원인별 IPC 분포를 통해 연구개발 역점분야를 살펴보면, 주요 상위 출원인은 하이브리드 관련 배치(B60K), 하이브리드 관련 제어(B60W), 전기장치(B60L)에 집중하여 연구개발이 진행되었다. TOYOTA MOTOR와 NISSAN MOTOR는 하이브리드 관련 제어(B60W), HONDA MOTOR는 하이브리드 관련 배치(B60K) 및 전동기(H02P)관련 연구에 역점을 두고 있었다.
