Tracking Control of HDD Dual Stage Actuator with Shear Mode PZT Micro-actuator (하드 디스크용 전단형 2단구동기의 동적 해석 및 제어)

  • 하드디스크의 고용량화 추세에 따라 헤드의 정밀한 위치제어를 위한 큰 대역폭의 트랙추적 서보 시스템의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 이에 작은 신호의 마찰을 제거하고 대역폭을 높이는 방법 중 하나인 2단구동기 트랙추적제어를 실시하여 큰 대역폭의 트랙 추적 서보시스템을 구성하는 방법에 대해 연구하였다. 2단구동기는 조동구동기(기존 하드디스크의 VCM)와 전단형 압전체를 부착한 미동구동기로 구성하였다. 미동구동기의 Hinge구조는 트랙 방향의 공진 주파수와 출력변위를 만족시키기 위한 구조로 설계하였다. 제어기는 notch filter와 PI 보상기를 사용하는 조동구동기와 notch filter와 PD 보상기를 사용하는 미동구동기를 다양한 구조로 구성한 것들을 비교하였다. 2단구동기는 VCM만을 사용하여 트랙 추적을 할 때보다 트랙 편심을 잘 추적하며, 기계적 공진과 VCM의 비선형성에 의해 제한된 대역폭을 개선시키는 효율적인 방법임을 확인하였다.

Design of a GA-Based Fuzzy PID Controller for Optical Disk Drive (유전알고리즘을 이용한 Optical Disk Drive의 퍼지 PID 제어기 설계)

  • An optical head actuator of an optical disk drive consists of two servo mechanisms for the focusing and the tracking to acquire data from disk. As the rotational speed of the disk grows, the utilized lag-lead-lead compensator has known to be above its ability for precisely controlling the optical head actuator. To overcome the difficulty, this paper propose a new controller design method for optical head actuator based fuzzy proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control and the genetic algorithm(GA). It employs a two-stage control structure with a fuzzy PI and a fuzzy PD control and is optimized by the GA to yield the suboptimal fuzzy PID control performance. It is shown the feasibility of the proposed method through a numerical tracking actuator simulation.

Design of Tracking Actuator for NFR(Near-Field Recording) System (근접장 기록 장치의 트랙 추적 구동기의 설계)

  • Nowadays, many studies and researches in data storage have been carried out and storage capacity is increased. But the limitation of storage capacity is happened for several problems. One of them is spot & pit size in optical and magnetic data storage and another is the resolution of actuators. The problems in spot & pit size is covered by new data storage methods- for example, NFR{Near-Field Recoding) system. But the resolution limit of an actuator doesn't follow up the development of spot & pit size. Because of them, we should improve a resolution of an actuator. Especially, in this paper an actuator is studied and designed for NFR(in using SIL(Solid Immersion Lens) system. It is a dual stage actuator, which consists of a Fine actuator and a Coarse actuator, and should desire 100nm accuracy. But, our actuator system only includes tracking mechanism execpt focusing mechanism which is controlled by slider mechanism used in HDD. Its actuating force generation method is VCM(Voice Coil Motor). The Fine actuator is composed of 4-leaf springs and a bobbin wrapped by coil. The Coarse actuator has Coils and 3-Roller bearings.

  • 본 논문에서는 유전알고리즘을 기반으로 하여 설계된 광 디스크 드라이브의 광학헤드 구동기용 퍼지 PI/PD 제어기를 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 제어기는 광디스크 드라이브의 광학헤드용 구동기의 포커싱 서보계, 트랙킹 서보계를 제어할 수 있는 퍼지 제어기이며 유전알고리즘을 통해 최적의 퍼지 규칙을 도출한다. 그리고 이를 토대로 모의실험을 수행한다.

  • This paper presents actuating characteristics of an asymmetric high-speed optical pick-up fine actuator that can be installed in a small area such as a notebook personal computer. In the asymmetric actuator four points (mass center, actuation center, supporting point of wire suspension on a bobbin, and optical axis) are not coincident so that the proposed actuator suspension reveals undesirable suspension resonance in the pitch and yaw direction. Lumped parameter dynamic model in each direction is used to investigate the driving characteristics with respect to relative location of the four points. Some of desired design directions toward reducing resonance peaks are suggested by using sensitivity information. In order to avoid undesirable resonance, at least supporting point on the obbin must be located in the middle of the mass and actuation center of the asymmetric pick-up actuator.

  • Nowadays, the improvement and development of Multi-media and information & communication technology is rapidly processed. They need large data storage capacity. So that, many studies and researches in data storage have been carried out. According to them, the data storage capacity has been increased.   • In optical disc system, tracking actuator is consisted of coarse actuator and fine tracking actuator. This, two-stage actuator, requires many devices and two servos for large stroke and precisional displacement. These complicate configuration increases moving mass. So dynamic characteristics become bad, that is, sensitivity of high frequency gain decrease. In this paper, frequency performance is willing to be better as so one dimensional tracking actuator is designed. In order to investigate the performance of the proposed tracking actuator, the Bode diagram is plotted with Dynamic analyzer and friction characteristic is explained. Finally, tracking error performance is ins investigated into 0.1 .mu.m resolution with MATLAB simulation.

  • Nowadays, the improvement and development of Multi-media, information and communication technology are rapidly processed. And many products, for example, digital camera, digital camcorder, and PDA, are used for them. They need large data storage capacity and small size, light storage system. Due to that, many studies and researches in data storage system have been carried out. Especially, micro drive system was presented by IBM.(1) However, its system is expensive and uneasy to be portable. In ODD technologies, 1 inch drive system is not yet or in processing status.(2) If to be possible and to be come up, it is cheap than HDD system and easy to transfer information. In this paper, a miniaturized actuator(about linch) is designed and tested for ODD system. Specially, it is adapted for NFR(Near-field Recoding) system using SIL(Solid Immersion Lens). It is the dual-servo actuator which consists of a coarse actuator and fine actuator. Its actuating force generation method is VCM(Voice Ceil Motor). The fine actuator has 4-wire suspensions and bobbin wrapped by coil and includes focusing motion as well as tracking motion. The coarse actuator has an actuating coil and V-grooved guide mechanism. Also, the characteristics of the designed actuator is estimated by sine-swept mode and LDV(Laser Doppler Vibro-meter).

  • The objective of this work is to develop a new design method to find optimal coils, especially the optimal coil configuration of an optical pickup actuator. In designing actuator coils, the developed Lorenz force in the coils along the desired direction should be made as large as possible while forces and torques in other directions should be made as small as possible. The design methodology we are developing is a systematic approach that can generate optimal coil configurations for given permanent magnet configurations. To consider the best coil configuration among all feasible coil configurations, we formulate the design problem as a topology optimization of a coil. The present formulation for coil design is noble in the sense that the existing topology optimization is mainly concerned with the design of yokes and permanent magnets and that the optimization of actuator coils is so far limited within shape or size optimization. Though the present design methodology applies to any problem, the specific design example considered is the design of fine-pattern tracking and focusing coils.

  • 하드디스크의 트랙 밀도를 높이기 위해서는 충분한 서보대역을 갖는 액츄에이터를 개발하는 것이 필수적이다 이 논문에서는 액츄에이터의 동특성 중에서 서보대역을 제한하는 주된 요인을 알아보기 위해 실험 모드 해석과 유한 요소 해석을 수행하였다. 우선 액츄에이터를 구성하고 있는 VCM 코일, E 블럭, 서스펜션등의 부분계에 대한 유한 요소 해석을 수행하였고 모달 실험을 통해 이를 검증하였다. 검증된 각 부분계의 모델을 결합하여 한 개의 서스펜션을 갖는 액츄에이터 시스템의 유한 요소 모델을 개발하였고 이를 통해 서보 성능과 관계된 모달 파라미터들을 규명하였다.
