A Road Sign Framework Development for Rural Highway System (지방도 도로표지의 안내체계개선(안내지명 선정을 중심으로))

  • 주간선도로의 ITS 사업 등 동적정보의 제공이 최근 도로이용자에게 제공되고 있으나, 지방부의 정적인 정보를 제공하는 도로표지는 아직도 안내기능이 취약한 것이 사실이다. 지방부 도로를 대표하는 지방도는 연장에 있어서 모든 도로를 통해서 최장이며 고속국도, 국도, 국가지원지방도와 함께 복잡한 도로망을 형성하고 있다. 즉, 도로의 대종을 차지하는 지방도는 아직도 정적정보제공기반도 취약하다는 것이며, 증가하는 수요에도 불구하고 길 찾기의 기능이 가장 미흡한 도로가 지방도이다. 이러한 지방도의 경우 같은 위계의 지방도 간에도 노선연장 및 지역적 차이가 크며, 노선의 연속성 또한 미약하다. 이러한 지방도 도로안내체계의 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 연구에서는 노선별 적절한 안내지명을 선정하고, 선정된 지명을 통해 도로안내 및 표지간의 연계성을 유지하기 위한 도로표지시스템을 개발하는 것이 목적이다. 이동에 있어 중추적 기능을 수행하는 도로가 아닌 지방도는 장거리 통행을 위한 위계 높은 도로와의 연계가 필수적인 만큼 본 연구에서는 도로표지규칙의 지방도 안내지명 선정에 대한 선정원칙을 재검토하고, 지방도의 적절한 안내지명 선정을 위해서 타 노선과의 연계유형을 분석하였다. 분석결과 9가지의 유형을 도출하였고, 도출된 노선연계 유형을 기반으로 노선별 거점을 선택하는 것으로 하였다. 한편, 안내지명에 대한 설문을 실시하였고, 그 결과 각 노선별 거점을 중요지와 주요지로 구분하여 정의, 선정하여 안내를 위한 기본 틀을 제시하였다. 제시된 안내지명서정요령 및 틀을 통해 지방도내의 및 지방도와 기타도로와의 연계성이 더욱 고조되고, 안내체계의 효율성의 증대가 기대된다.

A Study on Spatial Pattern of Impact Area of Intersection Using Digital Tachograph Data and Traffic Assignment Model (차량 운행기록정보와 통행배정 모형을 이용한 교차로 영향권의 공간적 패턴에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we studied the directional pattern of entering the intersection from the intersection upstream link prior to predicting short future (such as 5 or 10 minutes) intersection direction traffic volume on the interrupted flow, and examined the possibility of traffic volume prediction using traffic assignment model. The analysis method of this study is to investigate the similarity of patterns by performing cluster analysis with the ratio of traffic volume by intersection direction divided by 2 hours using taxi DTG (Digital Tachograph) data (1 week). Also, for linking with the result of the traffic assignment model, this study compares the impact area of 5 minutes or 10 minutes from the center of the intersection with the analysis result of taxi DTG data. To do this, we have developed an algorithm to set the impact area of intersection, using the taxi DTG data and traffic assignment model. As a result of the analysis, the intersection entry pattern of the taxi is grouped into 12, and the Cubic Clustering Criterion indicating the confidence level of clustering is 6.92. As a result of correlation analysis with the impact area of the traffic assignment model, the correlation coefficient for the impact area of 5 minutes was analyzed as 0.86, and significant results were obtained. However, it was analyzed that the correlation coefficient is slightly lowered to 0.69 in the impact area of 10 minutes from the center of the intersection, but this was due to insufficient accuracy of O/D (Origin/Destination) travel and network data. In future, if accuracy of traffic network and accuracy of O/D traffic by time are improved, it is expected that it will be able to utilize traffic volume data calculated from traffic assignment model when controlling traffic signals at intersections.

Analysis on Efficiency of Hierarchical Structure for a Grid Transit Network (격자형 대중교통 노선망의 위계구조 효율성 분석)

  • This study analyzed whether a transit network with hierarchy is efficient or not, and if transit network hierarchy has cost efficiency, then which condition guarantees the efficiency of the transit network hierarchy. The authors modeled the total cost of the transit network and suggested the conditions in which the transit network hierarchy has cost efficiency through comparing the cost of the transit network with and without hierarchy. The efficiency of transit network hierarchy is guaranteed when the travel cost savings induced by using a higher hierarchy transit network is larger than the increasing non-travel cost, which is the sum of access cost, waiting cost, and operating cost, induced by the introduction of a higher hierarchy transit network. This result is consistent with common sense and with the concept of cost and benefit analysis. If a passenger traveling within the area divided by a higher hierarchy transit network uses only a lower hierarchy transit network and the passenger traveling out of the area divided by the higher hierarchy transit network uses both lower and higher hierarchy transit networks, the travel demand using the higher hierarchy transit network is inversely proportional to the square of the line spacing. This means that the transit network becomes more efficient and small increases of travel demand guarantee the efficiency of the transit network hierarchy as the connectivity of the network becomes higher. This result shows that transit networks have economies of aggregation. This study is the first analytical research on transit network hierarchy and is expected to be a basis for numerical research. However, numerical research should complement this study, since analytical research has some limitations for considering a real network.

A Study on the GIS Analysis Techniques for Finding an Catchment Area by Public Transport at Railway Stations Using Transport Cards Big Data (교통카드 빅 데이터를 활용한 철도역의 대중교통 연계영향권 설정을 위한 GIS 분석 기법 연구)

  • Currently, there are 499 metropolitan subway stations in Korea, but there are not many studies on the influence zone of linkage between railway station and public transport. Existing studies have been studied almost in terms of accessibility.. In addition, the existing research on the influence zone of linkage using survey data and statistics, there is a limit to the theoretical basis and analysis techniques. In this paper, we propose a new method to select on the influence zone of linkage, It is a GIS analysis technique using the spatial data of the railway station user as the large data of the traffic card. We applied the GIS analysis technique for select the influence zone of linkage based on the travel time of the network for each public transportation system. As a result, it was confirmed that the influence of the link of 15 minutes on the local bus, 20 minutes on the city bus and 25 minutes on the intercity bus were clearly distinguished according to the difference in network access time.

A Study on Social and Environmental Factors Affecting Traffic Behavior and Public Transportation according to COVID-19 (COVID-19에 따른 통행행태 분석 및 대중교통 이용특성에 영향을 주는 사회·환경 요인 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to study how to activate the use of public transportation by identifying the main factors that reduce the use of public transportation due to external influences such as COVID-19 infectious diseases. Method: This study analyzed the connection between the traffic behavior and the characteristics of public transportation use in the metropolitan area changed by COVID-19 with COVID-19 indicators, and analyzed social and environmental factors affecting traffic. Results: It was analyzed that the traffic behavior in the metropolitan area moves from commercial areas to tourist resort areas, the number of COVID-19 deaths affects the use of public transportation, and the lower the deviation between population density, agricultural and forestry areas, and gender ratios due to social and environmental factors, the more significant differences are shown. Conclusion: In the future, it will be able to be activated as a basic analysis model for revitalizing the city's transportation system, regional bases, and various social and economic indicators, such as quarantine of public transportation and social distancing, and can be used as basic data for establishing public transport policy directions according to major influencing factors.

A Study of Origin and Destination Decision for a Direct Bus Line in a City with Transit Mobility and Potential Demand (대중교통 이동성과 잠재수요를 이용한 도시 내 지역 간 직결노선버스 기종점 선정에 관한 연구)

  • This study has redefined the concepts of mobility indexes and potential demand, standards to evaluate areas with the worst public transportation system and applied the relevant indexes to select the areas with the worst public transportation mobility and present a method to set direct public transportation lines between these regions. The mobility indexes and indexes to evaluate potential demand were applied to select the regions with the worst public transportation systems in four metropolitan cities and case studies were carried out on direct lines provided between these regions. The analysis results showed that in public transportation mobility blind spots, public transportation takes much longer than driving an automobile or public transportation services are not provided. In addition, the analysis showed that a direct lines system to solve such worst off regions should be built to have public transportation take as much time as driving an automobile by establishing lines for automobiles only, minimize time lost from hopping up and down a bus and maximize connections.

Predicting Average Speed within the Enterance and Exit Ramp Junction Areas of Urban Freeway (도시고속도로의 진출·입 연결로 접속구간 내 평균속도의 추정에 관한 연구)

  • Average speed denotes a travel speed based on the average travel time of vehicles to traverse a segment of roadway, and average travel speed is used as a measure of effectiveness (MOE) suggested in the highway capacity manual (HCM) for evaluating the level of service (LOS) of roadway. Most of the urban freeways in our country are having congestion problem regardless of the rush hours as a high-speed highway with a speed limit of 80km/h or less. Especially traffic congestion within the ramp junction areas is becoming worse by the increased traffic and lack of links with the arterials around the urban freeway. So, the purpose in this study is to identify the traffic characteristics within the ramp junction areas of urban freeway, predict the average speed within the ramp junction areas based on the traffic characteristics identified, and finally prove the validity of the average speed predicted.

Development of Intermodal Connectivity Index for High-Speed Rail (고속철도와 연계교통수단간 연계성 지표 개발)

  • Recently, the building of an intermodal transportation system has become the most important policy in the establishment of a national-wide sustainable transport system. In the case of rail and public transport, an intermodal connecting improvement policy is essential due to the lack of trip completeness. In particular, high-speed rail has brought dramatic changes to the transportation system in Korea and the idea of high-speed rail stations as major transportation nodes to be linked to various travel modes needs to be analyzed in terms of an intermodal network. Thus, this study proposes a new connectivity analysis method to objectively and quantitatively evaluate intermodal connecting performance for high-speed rail in terms of an intermodal network around high-speed rail stations. Seoul, Busan, Ulsan, and Sin-gyeongju stations were designated for a range of spatial analyses; detailed connecting performance indexes of travel modes connecting high-speed rail stations, and the influence sphere of these stations are analyzed, except for internal transfer facilities. Finally, this study proposes a connectivity analysis method that applies the structural equation model and develops a connectivity index.

The Boundary Delimitation of Busan Metropolitan Area using Network Analysis (네트워크 분석기법을 이용한 광역도시권 설정방안 - 부산광역권 설정사례를 중심으로 -)

  • This paper proposes a modified way to delimit the boundary of Busan metropolitan area and compares the empirical analysis with the existing metropolitan area boundary. More specifically, the present state of the metropolitan transportation network is reflected by service area analysis in our study area. The analysis of the linkage between the central city and its fringes considers various travel behaviors as well as commuting to work and school, based on origin-destination trip information. In addition, more diverse indices are applied to the analysis of urban characteristics, and the land cover map is used as well. Compared with the current Busan metropolitan area boundary, our empirical analysis captures the status quo of the undergoing spatial dynamics such as the newly form ed homogeneous sphere of living in our study area.

Regional Sociocultural Linkages in the Province of Young-nam : A Social Network Analysis (영남권 사회문화적 연계의 지역구조 -사회네트워크분석을 중심으로 -)

  • This paper aims to consider regional linkages in the Province of Young-nam mainly through a social network analysis of sociocultural activities such as leisure, friendly relations and visiting relatives. Passenger O-D data as of 2012 provided by National Transportation DB Center are analyzed using the NetMiner 4.0. The analytical results show that the sociocultural relationship between Daegu-Kyoungbuk and Busan-Ulsan-Kyioungnam is not so close. In particular, some north regions of Kyoungbuk are relatively isolated in the Province of Young-nam. This implicates that regions in the Province of Young-nam are not closely united at least in terms of sociocultural linkages although they are in the homogeneous natural environment of the basin of the Nakdong-river and share a same historical background for a long time. Consequentially this work suggests the Province of Young-nam may not be an united single region on the contrary to a notion of it so far.
