An Efficient Approach on Reliability Analysis under Multidisciplinary Analysis Systems (다분야 통합해석 시스템의 효율적인 신뢰성 해석기법 연구)

  • Existing methods have performed the reliability analysis using nonlinear optimization techniques. This is mainly due to the fact that they directly apply Multidisciplinary Design Optimization(MDO) frameworks to the reliability analysis formulation. Accordingly, the reliability analysis and the Multidisciplinary Analysis(MDA) are tightly coupled in a single optimizer, which hampers utilizing the recursive and function-approximation based reliability analysis methods such as the Advanced First Order Reliability Method(AFORM). In order to utilize the efficient reliability analysis method under multidisciplinary analysis systems, we propose a new strategy named Sequential Approach on Reliability Analysis under Multidisciplinary analysis systems(SARAM). In this approach, the reliability analysis and the MDA are decomposed and arranged in a sequential manner, making a recursive loop. The efficiency of the SARAM method was verified using three illustrative examples taken from the literatures. Compared with existing methods, it showed the least number of subsystem analyses over other methods while maintaining accuracy.

Multidisciplinary UAV Design Optimization Implementing Multi-Fidelity Analysis Techniques (다정밀도 해석기법을 이용한 무인항공기 다분야통합 최적설계)

  • In this study, Multi-fidelity analysis is performed to improve the accuracy of analysis result during conceptual design stage. Multidisciplinary Design Optimization(MDO) method is also considered to satisfy the total system requirements. Low-fidelity analysis codes which are based on empirical equations are developed and validated for analyzing the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV) which have unconventional configurations. Analysis codes consist of initial sizing, aerodynamics, propulsion, mission, weight, performance, and stability modules. Design synthesis program which is composed of those modules is developed. To improve the accuracy of the design method for UAV, Vortex Lattice Method is used for the strategy of MFA. Multi-Disciplinary Feasible(MDF) method is used for MDO technique. To demonstrate the validity of presented method, the optimization results of both methods are compared. According to those results, the presented method is demonstrated to be applicable to improve the accuracy of the analyses during conceptual design stage.

  • The present study is aimed to develop an integrated performance analysis approach for the application of a compressor with variable inlet guide vane (VIGV) and vairable stator vane (VSV) in a small turbofan engine. For the integrated analysis approach, an engine performance analysis program, NPSS and a computer program used for predicting of axial flow compressor performance based on stage stacking method, STGSTK were linked with an optimisation package, Isight. This enables off-design performance analysis for the turbofan engine with VIGV and VSV hence provides the capability to predict stable operation condition of the engine with acceptable surge margin.

Development of new integrated particle tracking techniques combining the numerical method, semi-analytical method, and analytical method (수치, 해석적, 준 해석적 및 해석적 방법을 통합한 새로운 입자추적기술 개발)

  • In this study, new integrated particle tracking algorithm was developed to reduce the inherent problem of Eulerian- Lagrangian method, or adverse effect of particle tracking error on mass balance error. The new integrated particle tracking algorithm includes numerical method, semi-analytical method, and analytical method which consider both temporal and spatial changes of velocity field during time step. Detail of mathematical derivations is well illustrated and four examples are made to verify through the comparison of the new integrated particle tracking with analytical solution or Runge-Kutta method. Additionally, It was shown that the there is better superiority of the new integrated particle tracking algorithm over other existing particle tracking method such as Lu's method.

  • 제품설계에 관련된 다양한 공학해석분야, 즉 구조해석, 동역학, 열ㆍ유체ㆍ유동해석, 제어, 전자기장해석 등을 동시에 고려하면서 최적의 설계를 결정하는 것을 다분야통합최적설계(Multidisciplinary Design Optimization: MDO) 기술이라 한다. MDO 프레임적 (framework)은 최적화기술, 컴퓨팅기반구조기술, 통합설계기술이 유기적으로 구현된 소프트웨어 복합체계로서, 분산컴퓨팅 기반구조를 통하며 MDO요소 기술들과 기존의 CAD/CAE 도구들을 연계하여 설계 작업을 통합적으로 관리하고 자동화한다. MDO 프레임칙은 이러한 자동화된 통합관리를 통하여 설계도구 간의 데이터 전달과 변환에 소요되는 설계자의 부담을 경감시키며 다분야 전문가가 참여하는 공통 작업 환경을 제공함으로써 설계 효율성을 증진시킨다. 이 글에서는 현재 최적설계신기술연구센터 (iDOT)에서 개발 중인 MDO 프레임웍인 EMDIOS를 소개하기로 한다.

Development of Preliminary Conceptual Design/ Comprehensive Analysis Programs for Next Generation Rotorcraft (차세대 회전익 기본개념설계/통합해석 프로그램의 개발)

  • The authors had presented two previous papers[1,2] on Helicopter/Rotorcraft develoment in Europe and US. Meanwhile, the next generation rotorcrafts, currently under development in US and Europe, have new configurations (tilt-rotor, coaxial, compound) of rotor-type vertical takeoff/landing rotorcrafts to overcome the disadvantages of traditional helicopters. For developing these new types of rotorcrafts, the upgraded conceptual design/comprehensive programs are required. In US and Europe, they are already developing new program tools with their technologies and database obtained during more than last half centuries. For us, many academia, research institutes and industrial engineers have experienced and developed core technologies on rotorcrafts (aerodynamics, structural analysis, flight dynamics, and noise analysis etc.) comparable to US and Europe during last couple of decades of developing helicopters and various configurations of rotorcrafts. In this paper, the pros and cons of conceptual design/comprehensive tools currently used in US and Europe have been summarized. Furthermore, the possibilities and problems to develope our own design and analysis tools have been studied.

  • An integrated multidisciplinary analysis and design system plays a critical role in the preliminary design of an aircraft. In this work a system based on the CATIA is developed for multidisciplinary computational design; aerodynamics, elasticity, and radar frequency stealth. Common data base of geometry and rectangular grids is generated and used for aerodynamic and structural analysis, while derivative triangular grids are generated for the RCS calculation. The panel method (PANAIR), FEM (NASTRAN), and PO technique are used for aerodynamic, structural, and RF stealth computations, respectively, and several additional algorithms are developed for the effective communication of the common data.

  • As software is large and sophisticate, in order to increase the productivity and efficiency of programs in programming development environments, it is necessary to support the integrated system that offers user interface integrated editing, compiling, debugging, and running steps. The key tool in such environments is an incremental translation. In this paper, in order to increase the productivity and reusability of software, the goal is to construct the integrated incremental interpretation system that supports friendly user interface with editor, debugger, and incremental interpreter. We define the new object-oriented language, IMPLO(IMPerative Language with Object) using EBNF notation, and construct the integrated incremental interpretation system using incremental interpreter of the language. To do so, we extend attribute grammars for specifying static semantics and present new action equations to describe the dynamic semantics. We executed the incremental interpretation by using analyzing the dynamic semantics and then implemented integrated incremental interpretation system with editor and debugger in C, Lex and Yacc using X windows on SUN. We obtain about 50% speedups in case of incremental execution time for example programs.

  • 지역빈도해석은 수문관측자료의 보유기간이 짧은 지점 또는 미계측 지점에 대하여 보다 정확하며 신뢰할 수 있는 설계수문량을 산정하기 위해 널리 사용되고 있는 방법이다. 지역빈도해석에서 사용되는 가장 대표적인 모형인 홍수지수모형 (index flood model)은 각 지점의 표본평균을 홍수지수로 정의하고 이를 이용하여 설계수문량을 산정하는 방법이다. 모홍수지수모형 (population index flood model)은 표본평균을 홍수지수로 사용함으로써 발생하는 설계수문량의 왜곡과 오차를 극복하기 위해 제안된 방법으로 홍수지수를 미지의 모분포로 가정한 후 설계수문량을 산정한다. 본 연구에서는 모홍수지수모형을 국내 강우관측자료에 적용하여 지역빈도해석을 수행하고자 한다. 먼저, 이질성척도(heterogeneity)를 통해 지역동질성이 확인된 지역에 대하여 GEV 분포형을 적용한 비정상성 모홍수지수모형을 적용해 지역빈도해석을 수행하고 확률강우량을 산정하였다. 또한, 기존의 지점빈도해석 및 L-moment 기반의 지역빈도해석 결과와 비교를 통해 모홍수지수모형의 적용성을 확인하였다.
