뉴스 데이터를 구조적으로 분할하고 의미적으로 분류하여 내용별로 세분화하여 검색하는 방법을 제안한다. 구조적 분할은 공간 밝기 분포와 명암도의 불연속성 그리고 시간적인 관계 등 프레임간의 상관 정보를 이용하여 장면을 분할한다. 의미적 분류는 키 프레임에서 추출된 특징 정보를 사전 지식 정보와 비교하여 뉴스 비디오의 세부 내용을 기사별로 분류한다. 뉴스의 진행이 앵커 프레임을 중심으로 주기적으로 반복된다는 특징을 이용하여 앵커 장면과 비 앵커 장면으로 기사를 분류한다. 비 앵커 장면은 연설장면, 인터뷰장면, 일반 장면으로 세분화하고 기사별로 분류하여 검색하도록 한다. 또한 뉴스 아이콘에 의한 요약 검색 기능 그리고 자막 통합 처리에 의한 자막 검색을 하여 뉴스 비디오를 내용별로 분류하고 인덱싱하여 신속하게 뉴스 비디오를 검색할 수 있도록 설계한다.

Various controlled vocabularies such as thesaurus and classification used for effective information retrieval contain different terms in expressing the same concept or meaning. National Library of Medicine has developed the Unified Medical Language System(UMLS) to solve the problems of information retrieval and integration resulted from the difference of concepts between different sources. The UMLS development was initiated in 1982 as a long-term project, and the 2001 edition of the UMLS consists of three parts : Metathesaurus, Semantic Network, and SPECIALIST Lexicon. This paper reviews background and structure of the UMLS including applications in PubMed, NLM Gateway.

본 논문은 분산, 독립적인 다수의 문서 컬렉션으로부터의 검색결과를 병합하는 컬렉션 융합(collection fusion)문제에 대한 효과적인 랭킹방법을 제시한다. 일반적인 컬렉션 융합 문제란 분산되어 있는 다수의 문서 컬렉션에서 독립적이고 능동적인 검색기들의 검색결과를 효과적으로 랭킹(ranking) 병합하는 것인데, 각기 다른 특성을 가진 다수의 컬렉션을 동일한 검색기를 통하여 검색된 결과를 병합하는 환경과 서로 다른 알고리즘을 갖는 검색기를 통한 검색 결과 병합 환경으로 나누어 질 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 서로 다른 특성을 갖는 다수의 컬렉션을 서로 다른 알고리즘을 갖는 검색기들을 통하여 검색한 결과를 병합하는 방법을 제시한다. 각 컬렉션에 학습 질를 넣어 얻은 정보를 토대로, 실제 질의를 넣었을 때 각각의 컬렉션에서 나온 결과가 통합 결과 집합에서 차지하는 비율과 각 문서의 순위를 결정한다. 기존 연구에서 사용한 방법들은 랜덤성에 의존한 비결정적인 랭킹 방법을 제시하거나, 단순하게 검색결과 집합의 문서 수를 바탕으로 인터리빙(interleaving)하는 방법을 제시하였다. 본 논문에서는 학습 질의에서 나온 정보를 기반으로 결정적이면서도 보다 효과적인 랭킹 방법을 제시한다.

최근 분산되어있는 이 기종의 컴퓨팅 자원들을 통합하는 그리드에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 그리드는 여러 사이트에 있는 자원들을 공유하고 검색하고 통합하며 각각의 그리드 사용자의 정보를 쉽고 빠르게 검색할 수 있는 환경이 필수적이다. 이러한 환경을 구축하기 위해서 본 논문에서는 웹 기반 인터페이스를 통하여 그리드 사용자 계정을 통합하고 그리드 사용자의 어카운팅 정보를 취합하는 그리드 어카운팅 서비스를 위한 웹 포탈을 설계하였다.

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the functions and characteristics of search interfaces of Korean Old and Rare Collection Information System(KORCIS) and Korean History Online. The checklist of OPAC functionalities proposed by Breeding was used to examine eleven functions of these systems. Both system provide the following functions: Search by keywords; Boolean operators in queries; Order results chronologically; Modify search without re-keying the initial terms ; Search within result sets ; and Ability to limit results to an individual library or education. They do not provide such functions as Browse by author, title, subject and View and recall the search history for the current session. Adoption of standard OPAC and next-generation catalog functionalities, in-depth understanding of user needs and information seeking behaviors, and the improvement of subject access to these systems are suggested in this study.

컴퓨터의 발전과 함께 음악 프로그램을 이용한 작곡 작업은 전문가부터 일반인에게 이르기까지 사용자의 폭을 넓혀왔다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 작곡 작업을 보다 효과적으로 하기 위하여 다양한 방안을 모색하였다. 단순한 텍스트 기반의 음악 검색이 아닌 미디(Midi) 분석엔진 기반의 다양한 검색방법을 설계하였으며 이를 기반으로 통합 음악제작/검색 솔루션을 구현하였다. 또한, 휴대성(Portability)을 위하여 MS 사의 WindowsPhone7 플랫폼 기반의 어플리케이션 구현을 통해 PC기반의 프로그램을 모바일 환경에서 작동 및 사용할 수 있도록 구현하였다.

Multimedia needs and searching have become important in everyday life, especially in a younger generation. The characteristics of multimedia needs and searching behaviors are distinctive compared to textual information needs and searching behaviors in a wide variety of ways. By interviewing and observing multimedia needs and searching behaviors of college students from 20 areas in Seoul, this study aims to improve the understanding on users' multimedia needs and how users search multimedia. The findings are presented in terms of searching sources, multimedia needs, relevance criteria and searching barriers. For multimedia, the searching sources are found primarily as Naver and Google and the distinguished features are presented depending on the individual multimedia types. As multimedia needs are categorized into generic, specific and abstract, most of the needs are classified as specific needs rather than generic needs, but there exist differences depending on the types of multimedia. In addition, the aspects of relevance criteria and searching barriers are reflected with the characteristics of individual multimedia types. The findings of this study demonstrate that distinctive indexing and searching environments depending on the types of multimedia might be necessary to improve the quality of multimedia searching.

인터넷상에서의 대부분의 검색 환경이 그렇듯이, 인터넷 쇼핑몰에서의 검색 환경 역시 고객 중심으로 제공하는 것이 중요하다. 특히, 고객의 행동 패턴 분석을 통해 얻어진 정보는 고객 중심의 검색 환경을 구성하는 데에 가장 중요한 요소라고 할 수 있으며, 또한 시시각각 변화하는 고객의 심리에 따라서 판매 전략도 달라질 수 있어, 이에 대한 여러 방법들이 연구되고 있는 추세이다. 본 논문에서는 고객과 시스템과의 상호작용으로부터 학습을 최대화시키기 위해 강화학습 기반의 플래닝과 학습의 통합 방법을 통하여 실시간적이고 동적인 인터뷰를 구성하는 방법과 이를 통해 얻어진 개인화된 판매전략과 결정 수와의 통합으로 고객이 원하는 적합한 상품을 추천할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다.

기존의 전문 검색 시스템은 문서를 단지 단어의 연속이라는 제한적 관점에서만 바라보았다. 또한 기존의 필드 검색 시스템은 고정된 필드를 색인 및 검색대상으로 하거나, 문서의 내용이 아닌 메타 정보에 관한 검색만이 가능하였다. 본 논문에서는 내용과 필드 구조를 통합하여 가변 필드 구조 문서를 색인 및 검색하는 모델인 교차 필드 검색 모델을 제안한다. 기존 정보검색 시스템의 기능을 기본으로 제공하면서 필드구조를 색인/검색하기 위한 기능적 요구사항을 제시하고, 내용 및 필드 구조를 색인하면서 동적인 삽입/삭제가 가능한 색인 구조를 제안한다. 아울러 검색시에 문서 가중치를 계산하여 문서를 순위조정하는 분리언 모델, 확장 불리언 모델, 벡터 공간 모델의 변형 모델을 제시한다. 아울러 구현 사례로 STEER-XDS 검색 시스템에 대해 알아본다.
