A Study on Developing Patterns for Integrated Culture and Arts Education Program in Libraries (도서관에서의 통합형 문화예술교육 프로그램 모형 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this research are to develop patterns for integrated culture and arts education program in libraries. In order to conduct the research, I analyzed the status of the culture and arts education programs in domestic and U.S. libraries. The basic aim of the culture and arts education program in libraries is based on a nature of the library. I presented the patterns of a integrated culture and arts education programs (experience-understanding-communication). Also, I presented a various culture and arts education programs in based cultural facilities of a region.

  • 도서관 통합 검색 시스템은 기존의 단일 사이트 도서관 검색 시스템과는 달리 한번의 질의로서 여러 사이트를 통합하여 검색할 수 있는 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 XML 기반 DB 통합 검색 시스템인 DataBlender 를 이용하여 세 개의 도서관 사이트를 연동 및 통합하여 검색할 수 있는 시스템을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 DataBlender 를 소개하고 각 도서관 사이트의 스키마 설계, 통합 스키마, 검색 질의 화면 설계 및 검색 시스템 구현에 관한 내용을 기술한다.

Improving the Quality of Bibliographic Data in Public Libraries: Focusing on Public Libraries in Busan Metropolitan City (공공도서관 서지데이터의 품질 제고 방안)

  • In 2020, the Busan metropolitan library took the lead in establishing an integrated library system (ILS) that integrates bibliographic data from 49 public libraries and 103 small public libraries. However, each library still builds bibliographic data individually and repeatedly, and the bibliographic data built by each library is only physically stored in an integrated DB. Therefore the improvement in work efficiency or data quality has not been achieved. This study aimed to analyze the construction processes and quality of bibliographic data in Busan public libraries and to suggest a new implementation strategy for an integrated environment. To this end, (1) the construction process of bibliographic data was investigated, (2) the quality of the constructed bibliographic data was objectively analyzed, and (3) four implementation strategies were suggested based on critical problems. The implementation strategy aims not only to improve the quality of bibliographic data, but also to increase work efficiency and build an infrastructure for data sharing.

A Study on the Proposal of an Integration Model for Library Collaboration Instruction (도서관협력수업의 통합모형 제안에 관한 연구)

  • Library collaboration instruction (LCI) is a process in which a classroom teacher and librarian collaborate to co-planning, co-implementation, co-assessment instruction. LCI is being studied and modeled in various dimensions such as the level of collaboration, information activities, and time scheduling. However, there is no integrated model that comprehensively covers teacher and librarian collaboration. The purpose of this study is to propose a schematic integration model for LCI by comparing and analyzing various models in five dimensions (level of collaboration, information activities, collaborative approach, time scheduling, and technological integration). The main results of the integration model for LCI reflected in this study are as follows. First, in terms of the level of collaboration, TLC integration model reflected such as library-based teacher-led instruction, cross-curricular integrated curriculum. Second, in terms of information activities, LCI integration model reflected social and science subjects inquiry activities in addition to the information use process. Third, in terms of collaborative approach, LCI integration model is divided into such as lead-observation instruction and parallel station instruction. Fourth, in terms of time management, LCI integration model took into account the Korean national curriculum and scheduling methods. Fifth, in terms of technology integration, LCI integration model reflected the PICRAT model, modified from the perspective of library collaboration instruction.

A Study on the Education for Teacher Librarians in Inclusive Educational Environment (통합교육환경에서의 사서교사 교육에 관한 연구)

  • In recent years, inclusion of students with disabilities in regular classrooms and special classrooms in mainstream schools has been a major stream of special education. However education for teacher librarians in Korea has not been responsive to these trends. A few of departments of library & information science in Korea universities offer courses that include information about special needs students. This study addressed the implications of inclusive education, the roles of school library and the training needs of teacher librarians for service to special needs students. And it analyzed tendency and current states of teacher librarians education on inclusive education. As a result, it is recommended that departments of library & information science in Korean universities offer more courses concerning educational support for special needs students in their curriculum and include of special modules in their most of courses offered to enhance the skill of future teacher librarians to cater for special educational needs.

An Analysis of Reciprocal Borrowing Programs in the U.S. (미국의 통합대출서비스 사례 조사 및 분석)

  • As today's information environment changes rapidly with the development of information technology, users expect a variety of the library services that meet their emerging needs. This paper reports the concept of reciprocal borrowing and analyzes the cases of reciprocal borrowing programs in the US. Particularly, this paper introduces (1) three cases of state-wide library cards such as Georgia's PINES card, Maryland's MPower card, and Michigan's Michi card. (2) Public library systems in the U.S. also are introduced as a type of reciprocal borrowing. Another type of reciprocal borrowing mentioned in this paper was (3) an mutual agreement between and among libraries. The author sought the deeper understanding of reciprocal borrowing by mapping the cases described in this paper into three models of reciprocal borrowing Kwak et al.(2010) suggested. This paper concludes with a few important considerations in implementing reciprocal borrowing services in Korea.

A Study on the Operational Structure and Status Role of Korean Public Libraries - the Case of Busan Metropolitan City - (공공도서관의 운영체계 및 지위적 역할 설정에 관한 연구 - 부산광역시를 사례로 하여 -)

  • The Korean government has established a plan on the 'service operating system of public libraries', which divides the local libraries into a central library, regional libraries, and small branches. However, due to the low interest of the libraries and, above all, the structural problems caused by the dualization of the library administrative bodies, no action plans have been developed. This study intends to propose an integrated operating system for public libraries in Busan metropolitan and to design specific roles and functions according to the library status. To the ends, this study examined the Korean government's plan for public library operation, analyzed the operation cases of foreign public libraries, and finally suggested the detailed action plan of an integrated operating system based on the case of Busan Metropolitan City. The data were collected from literature review and on site field survey, supplemented by e-mail inquiry and official statistical information.
