  • Alternator noises are composed of magnetic noise, mechanical noise, and ventilation noise. These noises depend on the design of magnetic parts and fans, the machining accuracy of each element, and assembled conditions. In running alternator there are various exciting forces which can generate noises and vibrations. In order to identify the noise sources of the alternator, the characteristics of noises and vibrations are analyzed as rotating speed is increased. And the experiment for structural vibration is carried out. From results of experimental study, the noise sources are identified and their contributions to the overall noise level are investigated. Their results can lead the instruction to the noise reduction on the alternator.

  • The aluminum soundproofing panel used to the traffic noise reduction will judge with the material to improve because the CO2 emission is greater than other soundproofing panel such as plastic soundproofing panel. Also, if the air-passing soundproofing panel which can endure the fast wind velocity will be developed, it judged that it can reached to the target of low CO2 traffic technology development using the reduction of material cost and the lower consumption of steel. The objective of this study is to improve the soundproofing panel and to develop the air-passing soundproofing panel for the replacement of aluminum sound proofing panel which is more emit CO2 than other soundproofing panel. And, we tried to develop the reduction technology of CO2 emission through the development of air-passing soundproofing panel. At first, the flow and noise simulation were conducted for the purpose of the calculation of wind pressure on soundproofing wall and noise exposure level on receiver points according to the open ratio of air-passing soundproofing panel. And the 1st and 2nd mockup of air-passing soundproofing panel were made, and the design load test were conducted for these mockup.

  • In this paper, the noise pressure propagated in the air on account of the engine revolution of a stern trawler, Sae-Ba-Da(G. T. 2275.71) was measured at the check points No.1 through No.43 when the vessel was cruising, towing nets, and drifting. The experiment was carried out in the period from August 23 to October 22, 1978 at the locations of lat. $33^{\circ}$ 47'N, long. $127^{\circ}$ 34'E; lat. $34^{\circ}$ 24'N, long. $128^{\circ}$ 23'E; and lat. $6^{\circ}$ 01'N, long. $108^{\circ}$ 04'E. In case of cruising, noise on the weather deck came from funnel noise. The highest noise pressure was 92dB at observation point No.9 where tile noise pressure from main engine was 105dB when the engine was operated at 730rpm and $12^{\circ}$ sorely propeller pitch. The noise measured was reduced to 90dB at observation point No.9 when the screw propeller pitch was changed to $8^{\circ}$ that resulted in reduction of engine to 103dB. In case of towing net, the main engine revolution and screw propeller pitch was fixed at 730rpm and $8^{\circ}$ respectively. But the engine noise pressure was increased up to 106dB due to the towing resistance by 14 tons of the nets, and the noise pressure was 90dB at No.9 point. A hight noise was also generated from screw because of the towing reoistance and could be measurable even in the wall of the insulated freezing room. When the vessel was drifting: the noise pressure from the generator operated, at 720rpm was 100dB. This caused 87dB noise pressure at No.9 point. The noise pressure in the boarding or residence sections was 45 to 60dB in each case of cruisinrg towing net or drifting but it was so high as 82dB on the open deck that voice could hardly be heap.

  • Traffic volume has been greatly increasing due to urban development and the improvement of living standards, and many complaints are being raised due to the increasing road noise. As a countermeasure against these problems, highly soundproof walls are installed on the sides of roads. However, the ability to bear wind loads is a major design requirement for soundproof walls, which contributes to the exponential increases in construction costs and restricts the height of the walls. The aim of this study is to improve the performance of soundproof walls and to dramatically reduce wind loads while maintaining excellent price competitiveness. Based on Helmholz's resonator theory, a new concept is proposed for a ventilation-type soundproofing plate that can pass through a fluid like air and reduce noise. A full-scale metal soundproofing plate was produced to satisfy the quality standards of highways by conducting a sound-pressure transmission-loss test, wind tunnel test, and material quality test. To verify the reliability, the wall was manufactured and installed, and the sound insulation effect was examined by measuring the noise over time. In the future, ventilated soundproof walls on roads could create a pleasant living environment due to the high noise-insulation effect.

  • Metal ducts for transporting air conditioning and heating inside ships have recently been replaced by cloth ducts that have the advantage of delivering air evenly to the compartments, with excellent noise reduction in major compartments, such as combat command rooms, steering rooms, and sound detector cabins. Since the performance requirements of fabric ducts for vessels are strict, and the entire length of the ducts was imported from Korea, the government wants to create economic effects through localization of fabric ducts. Air permeability and fire prevention performance tests verified the applicability to naval vessels of fabric ducts developed by Hyundai Heavy Industries and HiDact, and performance requirements presented in the POS were verified. As a result of the tests, the fabric ducts met the requirements for air permeability and fireproof performance.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an air-passing soundproofing panel with more improved structure to reduce the $CO_2$ emission and installation cost. To reduce the emission of $CO_2$ ; it is suggested to choose low $CO_2$ emission material relative to the aluminum and to reduce the materials by developing a specially designed air-passing soundproofing panel structure. First of all, we performed the flow analysis to predict the wind pressure according to the open angle of the air-passing soundproofing panel and the noise level analysis at the receiver point. To verify the simulation, a prototype of the soundproofing panel was made. The flow test in the wind tunnel and load test were performed. The economic evaluation for the installation of the air-passing soundproofing panel was performed and specifications of the installation was prepared. As the results of this research, it was verified that the wind load was reduced about 40% to that of the conventional one at 25m/s wind speed in the wind tunnel test. By applying the 4m span soundproofing wall with air-passing soundproofing panel and under the cost of 250 thousand $won/m^2$ instead of the conventional 2m span panel, the installation cost will always be lowered than the conventional one in the combination of (60:40~50:50) conventional to air-passing soundproofing panel from the economic evaluation. The 20% reduction of $CO_2$ was found by changing the 50% of aluminum soundproof panel to air-passing soundproofing panel.
