Segmentation of the Korean speech signals into phonetic units using the super resolution pitch determination (고해상 피치검출을 이용한 한국어 음성신호의 음소분리)

  • This paper is presented the phonetic segmentation alg9rithm of the Korean speech signals which is finded the exact pitch using the super resoluton pitch determination and is compared corss-correlation to threshold each pitch period. The features of the proposed algorithm are infinite resolution and high reliability, and also can separate transient or silent segment. The algorithm is instrumental to speech processing applications which require vector quantization and speech recognition. The presented algorithm is implemented by 386-MATLAB on PC 386/DX and is verified the exact pitch period and the phonetic segmentation of speech signals.

A Study on the Performance Improvement of Thinning Algorithm for Handwritten Korean Character (필기체 한글 인식에 유용한 세선화 알고리듬의 성능 개선에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we introduce new thinning algorithm which is useful for handwritten Korean character by using pixel directivity. At first, the directivity detection is performed before thinning. Each pixel is classified into the straight line of the oblique line based on its directivity. The algorithm using Rutovitz corossing number is applied to the straight line. And the algorithm using Hilditch crossing number is applied to the oblique line. The proposed algorithm is compared with six convention algorithms. Comparison criteria are similarity, noisy branch, and phoneme segmentation rate. Experiments with 570 characters have been conducted. Experimental result shows that the proposed algorithm is superior to six conventional algorithm with respect to similarity and phoneme segmentation rate.

3D Mesh Encoding Technique Based on Triangle Fan Structure (삼각형 팬 구조에 기반한 3차원 메쉬 부호화 기법)

  • 본 논문에서는 삼각형 메쉬(triangular mesh)로 이루어진 3차원 모델의 연결 정보(connectivity data)와 형상 정보(geometry data)를 삼각형 팬(triangle fan) 구조에 기반하여 효율적으로 압축하는 부호화 기법을 제안한다. 첫째로, 연결 정보의 무손실 부호화로 꼭지점 차수 왜곡(vertex degree warping) 기법을 제안한다. 기존의 알고리듬이 연결 정보와 형상 정보를 분리하여 부호화하는데 반해 제안하는 알고리듬은 연결 정보를 부호화하는데 형상 정보를 이용하여 압축 효율을 높인다. 둘째로, 형상 정보를 압축하기 위해 이중 평행사변형 예측(dual parallelogram prediction) 기법을 제안한다. 삼각형 팬 구조를 이용함으로써 기존의 삼각형 스트립(triangle strip) 기반의 알고리듬보다 정확한 형상 예측이 가능하고, 예측 오차가 작아지게 된다. 다양한 3차원 메쉬 모델에 대한 모의 실험을 통하여 제안하는 알고리듬이 기존의 알고리듬보다 우수한 압축 성능을 나타냄을 확인하다.

  • In this paper, we propose OHT(optimized nough Transform) algorithm for the lane extraction. Input image is changed into 256 gray revel image. Gray level image is separated into background region and road region by using limited horizontal projection value. In separated road area, we apply OHT algorithm. OHT algorithm is characterized as follows. First, the number of candidate pixels is reduced using the outline orientation of the lane. Second, each range of the left and right lane is defined by limited ${\theta}$ Experimental results show that the proposed method is better than Hough Transform.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient noise reduction algorithm for digital hologram during acquisition and transmission. The proposed algorithm segment a digital hologram with object region and background region after DCT. Then, we adopt a histogram transition method for object region and zero-value change method for background region. The experimental results show that our algorithm has beuer performance than a natural image denoising algorithm.

  • This paper proposes a simultaneous hardware resource allocation and binding algorithm for VLSI design. The proposed algorithm works on scheduled input graph and simultaneously allocates binds functional units, interconnections and registers by considering interdependency between operations and storage elements in each control step, in order to share registers and interconnections connected to functional units, as much as possible. Also, the register allocation is especially executes the allocation optima us-ing graph coloring techniques. Therefore the overall resource is reduced. This paper shows the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm by comparing experiments to determine number of functional unit in advance or to separate executing allocation and binding of existing system.

  • This paper proposes an effective recognition system which recognizes the mixed document consisting of handwritten korean/alphanumeric texts and graphic images. In the preprocessing step, an input image is binarized by the proposed thresholding scheme, then graphic and character regions are separated by using connected components and chain codes. Separated Korean characters are merged based on partial recognition and their character types and sized. In the character recognition step, we use the branch and bound algorithm based on DP matching costs to recognize Korean characters. Also we recognize alphanumeric characters using several robust features. Finally we use a dictionary and information of a recognition step to correct wrong recognition results. Computer simulation with several test documents shows what the proposed algorithm recognized effectively handwritten mixed texts.

  • In this paper, we propose a color quantization method regarding facial image for mobile services. For facial images, skin colors are more emphasized. First, we extract skin-color mask in the image and divide the image into two regions. Next, we extract color pallette for two regions respectively. In the proposed method, the loss in the face region is minimized and it can be useful for mobile services considering facial images. From the 8-bit color quantization experiment, we show that the proposed method works well.

  • In this paper, an efficient technique is proposed to integrate the 3D user interface with the tiled display system in PC cluster environment. In the developed 3D user interface software, various menus are provided to increase the user friendliness of the interface, including the several model-control-commands. To eliminate the noise produced from the 3D user interface devices, the box filtering algorithm is employed. Further, a communication splitting algorithm, which is a kind of asynchronous communication method, is proposed to reduce the motion delay between the 3D interface and the tiled display system, and its efficiency is validated through the benchmarking tests.

  • In this paper we suggested the chirp stitching algorithm and transmitter/receiver channel to a spaceborne high resolution SAR which enables wideband signal generation and processing with minimum hardware requirement. The transmitter channel generates two sub-band signals and then generate a wideband signal using chirp stitching algorithm and the receiver channel divides a wideband signal into two sub-band signals in order to overcome the high speed data handling capability of this spaceborne systems. We generated and processed a 100 MHz wideband signal evaluated the performance and verified the feasibility of the application of this chirp stitching algorithm and transmitter/receiver channel to spaceborne high resoultion SAR.
