This Study reviewed 86 research articles using inferential statistics published in 2001-2004 in 4 korean core journals in the field of library and information science. Sampling methods, response rates and nonresponse bias, reliability test, and inferential statistic techniques used in the articles were critically reviewed and analyzed. Nonprobability sampling was mostly used. Average response rate was 74.47%. Parametric statistics were mostly used. Some misunderstandings in using each inferential statistics, especially Reliability Test, Multiple Regression, Factor Analysis, MDS, etc. were reported in this study.

There have been many studies of automatic term recognition (ATR) and they have achieved good results. However, there are scopes to improve the performance of extracting terms still further by using the additional technical dictionaries. This paper focuses on the method for extracting terms using the hierarchy among technical dictionaries. Moreover, a statistical method based on frequencies, foreign words, and nested relations assists extracting terms which do not appear in dictionaries. Our method produces relatively good results for this task.

과거의 우리나라 대설피해 양상을 살펴보면 지역적으로 집중되어 피해가 발생하는 것이 특징이다. 그러나 현재는 전국적으로 대설피해가 가중되는 추세이며, 이에 따라 대설피해에 대비 가능한 대책의 강구가 필요한 실정이다. 그러나 피해 발생 시 정확한 피해 예측으로 사전에 재난을 대비가 가능한 수준의 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다양한 통계기법과 기계학습 기법을 이용하여 대설로 인해 발생한 피해액을 개략적으로 예측이 가능한 모형을 개발하고자 하였다. 대설피해액 예측 모형은 다중회귀분석, 서포트 벡터 머신, 인공신경망 기법, 랜덤포레스트 기법을 이용하여 총 4가지 기법으로 개발하였으며, 독립변수로 사회·경제적 요소, 기상요소를 사용하였고, 종속변수로는 1994년부터 2020년까지 발생한 대설피해 이력의 대설피해액을 사용하였다. 결과적으로 4가지 예측 모형의 예측력 검증 및 기법 간의 예측력을 비교하여 개발한 모형의 적용성을 검토하였다. 본 연구 결과에서 제시한 모형의 개선방안 및 업데이트 방안을 참고하여 후속 연구가 진행된다면 미래에 전국적으로 확대될 대설피해에 대한 대비가 가능할 것으로 기대되며 복구비 및 예방비 투자의 지역적 우선순위를 분석하여 선제적인 대비가 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

정보화시대의 발전과 더불어 우리 일상생활에 친숙하게 다가온 기술 중의 하나가 지리정보시스템(Geographical Information System: GIS)이다. GIS는 공간(지표, 지하, 해양 등)상에 분포하고 있는 정보에 대해 여러 종류의 세밀한 지도를 이용하여 효율적으로 사용자에게 제공하여 관리하는 종합정보기술이다. 통계 데이터 중에는 지리정보를 가지고 있는 경우가 상당히 많다. 하지만 지리정보를 갖는 통계 데이터의 탐색적 자료분석(Exploratory Data Analysis)을 위한 Visualization 기법에 대해서는 별로 연구된 바가 없다. 본 논문에서는 GIS를 위한 벡터맵(vector map)의 간단한 제작방법과 GIS의 개발방법, 그리고 탐색적 자료분석을 위한 Visualization기법을 소개한다.

생물통계학(biometrics)의 여러 분야중 의학, 보건학, 농학 및 독성학 등 각 분야별로 지난 10년간(1981-1990) 학술전문지에 실린 논문을 통해 사용된 통계 방법론의 빈도를 연도별로 혹은 자료유형별로 조사 분석하였다. 주요 보건통계의 현황과 농업연구 분야에서의 통계적 기법 사용상의 문제점을 살펴보고 개선방향을 제시하였으며, 의과대학 교과과정 중 통계학 과목의 현황과 방법론으로써 전반적인 활용을 살펴 보았다. 또한 독성학 분야에서 일반적으로 다루어지는 통계적 문제를 소개하고 우리나라 독성학 분야 논문에서 가장 많이 다루는 것으로 나타난 용량-반응 분석기법에 대한 고찰을 하고 있다. 본 연구를 통하여 우리나라의 생물통계의 현황을 파악하고 장래의 방향을 제시하고자 한다.

확률화응답기법은 민감한 사항에 대한 모비율의 효율적인 추정과 응답자에 대한 충분한 보호수준 제공이라는 두 가지 측면을 동시에 추구하는 통계조사기법이다. 본 연구에서는 기법에서 적용된 질문선택확률이 이와 같은 두 가지 측면에 미치는 영향을 정리하고, 이런 관점에서 최근에 제시된 2단계 확률화응답 기법들은 기존의 기법에서 단순히 질문선택확률구조만을 수정한 것으로 해석될 수 있으며, 따라서 효율성 측면에서 본질적으로 기존의 방법과 동일한 기법임을 보였다.

이 글은 체육 및 운동과학 연구에서 각종 통계적 방법의 출현을 역사적으로 개관하고 이들 통계적 방법의 출현시기를 미국의 경우와 비교함으로써 한국 체육학연구의 학문적 성장을 확인하고 이들 방법 적용과정에서 나타난 문제점을 밝히는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 통계적 방법 관련논문을 분석하고 통계적 방법이 체육 현장에서 어느 정도 중요하게 다루어 질 수 있는지를 확인하기 위해 측정,평가 담당교수의 학문적 배경과 교육적 경력을 조사하였다. 전공자의에 대한 의 체육학이 아직 학문적으로 자리를 잡기 전인 최초 태동 시기에 적용된 통계적 방법을 미국의체육학회지(RQES)와 비교해 볼 때 동일한 통계적 방법의 적용시기는 약 30년 차이가 있다. 이러한 차이는 미국에서 1980년도에 나타나기 시작한 진보된 다변량 통계기법을 1990년대에 적용하기 시작하면서 급속도로 좁혀졌으며 현재는 동일한 시기에 나타나고 있다. 그러나 진보된 통계적 기법의 출현에도 불구하고 이들 기법을 적용하는데 필요한 기본가정이 충족되었는지에 대한 검토 없이 적지않은 논문이 보고되고 있다. 담당교수의 학문적, 교육적 배경이 통계학과 거리가 있는 교수가 47%로 나타남으로써 가르치는 내용과 범위에서 적지않은 제약이 따르고 있다. 또한 전문가에 의한 평가체제가 확립되지 못함으로써 적용된 통계적 기법의 적절성을 평가하는데 장애가 되고 있다.

Clustering is well known method and that can be used in statistical machine translation. In this paper we propose a corpus clustering method using syntactic structure and POS information of dependency grammar. And using this cluster language model as additional feature to phrased-based statistical machine translation system to improve translation Quality.

In this study, we compare multivariate R-techniques in the up-to-date versions of SAS, SPSS, Minitab and S-plus. The direct input method by typing in command is considered for SAS, while the menu-driven method is considered for SPSS, Minitab and S-plus. Comparison was made in terms of input data format, input option, charts and outputs.

It is well known that graphical display is critical to data analysis. A lot of research for data visualization has been done, so many effective graphical tools are now available. With the proper use of these graphical tools, we can penetrate the complex structure of data set easily. To enjoy the benefit of the powerful graphical display, the choice of the statistical software is very crucial. R is a popular open source software tool for statistical analysis and graphics, and can provide the very powerful graphics facilities. Moreover, many researchers believe that R is the best software for statistical graphics. In this paper, we would like to discuss what we teach and how we teach in statistical graphics course using R.
