Experimental Study on Effects of Compressor for Automotive Air Conditioning System on Fuel Economy (차량용 에어컨 압축기가 실차 연비에 미치는 영향에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, the effects of the compressor for the air conditioning system on the fuel economy were experimentally investigated in an actual automobile. This study aims to analyze the level of contribution of the driving torque of the compressor to the fuel economy. A torque sensor, which is directly set on the clutch of the compressor, is developed to obtain data about the compressor load, which influences the fuel efficiency, and then, the reliability of the torque sensor is verified by comparing the results with those of a torque meter in a bench test. An actual automobile equipped with the compressor and torque sensor is operated in a climate wind tunnel in which appropriate facilities are set up to evaluate the fuel efficiency. The compressor driving torque resulting from the difference in the compressor displacement is found to influence the fuel economy, and the fuel economy is found to be worsened by up to 2~3% with an around 11% increase in the compressor displacement under the same conditions.

  • The situation frequently occurs in which the input torque capacity of the torque converter should be changed. It is known that the modification of the outlet blade angles of the torque converter elements is suitable for such situation with the outer diameter of flow path of the converter maintained. But so far it has been difficult to predict correctly the converter characteristics as well as the effect of outlet angles on torque capacity in the past numerical methods. In the present numerical method introducing the interrow mixing planes, the torque capacity was satisfactorily estimated and it was shown that the torque capacity could be effectively changed by modifying the outlet blade angles of pump and stator.

  • The performance of a vertical-type wind power generator system was predicted by CFD analysis. In the analysis, the reaction torque was calculated for a given rotational speed of the blades. The blade torque of a wind power system was obtained for various rotational speeds, and the generation power was calculated using the obtained torque and the rotational speed. The optimum generator specification, therefore, could be decided using the relationship between the generated power and the rotational speeds. The effects of the number of blades and blade shapes on the generation power were also investigated. Finally, the analysis results were compared with the experimental results.

  • A high efficiency small electromagnet (22 mm air gap and $40{\times}25mm^{2}$ core's cross section) suitable for measuring magnetostriction and magnetic anisotropy was biult. The magnet could be minaturized by reducing the measuring space and time. The excitation current of the electromagnet was supplied for only a few second of measuring time. Cooling system of the electromagnet could be eliminated since the dissipation energy was very small. An 0.5 T magnetic field was generated with 180 W power consumption. The values of magnetostriction and magnetic anisotropy were measured with a very sensitive capacitance cell with resolution of $10^{-8}$ and 1 nJ. The torque was calibrated using a soft magnetic ribbon's shape anisotropy.

  • 친환경 차량에 대한 관심이 급증함에 따라 고효율 운전이 가능한 하이브리드 전기자동차(이하 HEV)에 대한 관심이 급증하고 있다. HEV에는 효율이 높고 단위 체적당 토크가 큰 고성능 전동기가 적용되고 있으며 자동차에 적용되는 특수성으로 인해 고속영역에서의 안정된 출력 특성이 요구되고 있다. 회전계자부에 권선을 적용한 계자권선형 동기전동기는 영구자석형 전동기에 비해 효율이 다소 감소하는 단점이 있으나, 공극 자속을 임의로 제어할 수 있기 때문에 저속영역부터 10,000rpm 이상의 고속영역까지 탁월한 가변속 능력을 발휘하는 장점이 있으며, 저용량 HEV에 매우 적합한 특성을 지니고 있다. 그러나, 일반적인 영구자석형 동기전동기와는 다르게 d,q축 전류 뿐만 아니라 자속성분 전류까지 제어 대상에 포함되므로 제어계가 복잡해지는 문제가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 HEV용 계자 권선형 동기전동기의 단위 전류당 최대토크 제어(MTPA)에 대하여 연구를 진행하였으며, 전압-전압제한 하에서 이론적으로 발생 가능한 최대토크 능력 커브를 기반으로 실제 시스템에서 쉽게 구현할 수 있는 약계자 제어 알고리즘을 제안한다.

  • A new torque measuring apparatus adopting the basic principle of a capacitive type sensor is proposed in this article. Two plate electrodes are working as a capacitive sensor, whose capacitance varies as torque is applied. One end of each plate is connected to the torque carrying shaft. Output characteristics of the torque sensor were theoretically analyzed and its validity was investigated through experiment. Calculations and calibration experiments show that the output is nonlinear, that is, the sensitivity is very high at low torque but decreases as torque increases. The sensitivity of the proposed system is about 100 times roughly higher than that of a conventional 4-strain gauge type torque sensor.

A study on the performance test method of oil hydraulic pump is based on test standard, but there is to be desired an study for double or tandem type oil hydraulic piston pump. So in this study present a test method on the tandem pump for torque efficiency and analysis method of the results.

  • When turbochargers are applied to engines, the temperature of the engine becomes high, making the cooling of pistons very important. To solve this problem, an oil jet is used. The oil jet provides oil to the underside of piston for cooling. When an oil jet is used, oil pump size-up and oil cooler are needed because of the increased oil flow rate and higher oil temperature. On the other hand, these increase the friction torque of the engine. This study examined how much the friction torque of an engine increases by an oil jet, oil cooler, and oil pump size-up. In addition, the proportions of the friction torque of the engine increased by each part were measured by changing the engine assembly condition. At low speed, the oil pump and oil cooler had a larger effect on the friction torque than the other factors. At high speed, oil cooler had a larger effect than the other factors.

  • The external disturbance torque acting on a low earth orbit spacecraft was analyzed. For the Earth pointing attitude, the maximum torque to the spacecraft is about $8.3{\times}10^{-4}$ Nms and the momentum accumulated for an orbit is about 1.4 Nms and for the Sun pointing attitude, the maximum torque to the spacecraft is about $1.6{\times}10^{-3}$ Nms and the momentum is accumulated about 3.0 Nms in the spacecraft body reference frame. The analysis results confirm that the size of magnetic torquer selected previously for the satellite is sufficient to manage the accumulated momentum by considering the dumping capacity for an orbit.
