Validation test for using the computer-generated prototype in the usability test for the control-display panel of a refrigerator (래피드 프로토타이핑 기술을 이용한 냉장고 제어표시판의 사용성평가에 대한 유효성 검증)

  • Rapid prototyping is an efficient method to evaluate the usability of electric home appliances. However, the use of rapid prototyping method in usability tests has not been sufficiently validated. The purpose of this study was to validate computer-generated prototypes whether they can replace real products in usability tests. The control-display panel of a refrigerator was selected for this study. Sixteen female subjects participated in a between-subjects experiment: Eight subjects of them used the real refrigerator while others used the computer-generated prototype of the refrigerator. The difference between the refrigerator and the prototype was analyzed in terms of task failure rate, task completion time, and the number of buttons pressed for three typical tasks: clock setting, selecting an operation mode for refrigerating room, and selecting an rapid freezing mode. The results of a non-parametric statistical test showed that the prototype was not significantly different from the real refrigerator. Therefore, the rapid prototyping technique can be applied to the usability tests for the simple electric home appliances such as the refrigerator.

Seasonal Earthworm Casting Activity on Korean Golf Courses (골프장에서 지렁이 분변토 발생의 계절적 변화)

  • Earthworm cast occurred in surface of turfgrass in golf courses which affect turfgrass maintenance and golf play. In this study several survey of seasonal fluctuation of earthworm cast in different golf courses (Anseong, Gapyeong, Gunpo and Yongin in Gyeonggi province, and Geumjeong in Busan) was done. A number of earthworm, soil temperature and moisture of detection site of earthworm cast in each golf course were also done. Cast occurred in different golf courses are found mostly from April to November on turf surface and the cast number varied in different month as well as in golf courses. In the same golf courses, a number of detected cast was difference from individual sites. A number of cast and earthworm was correlated. Also, in higher soil moisture showed the higher cast density in different golf courses. Soil temperature and moisture of detecting cast ranging from $2.1^{\circ}C$ to $33.1^{\circ}C$ and 4.9 to 44.1%, respectively. In case of cast, soil temperature level lies in between $10-15^{\circ}C$ where the highest soil moisture was 25%.

Genetic Diversity of Mulberry Dwarf Phytoplasma(MD) by SSCP Technique (SSCP기법에 의한 뽕나무오갈병 파이토플라스의 유전적 다형성 분석)

  • Phytoplasmas were detected consistently in 42 mulberry cultivars showing dwarf disease using DNA analysis by amplification with phytoplasma universal primer pairs P1/P7 (about 1.8 kb and R16F2n/R2 (about 1.2 kb). The point mutation from 42 cultivars of mulberry tree was detected by single-strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis. The SSCP profiles were clearly observed from all of cultivars in 8% polyacrylamide gel, electrophoresizing for and running 8-15 hrs. at 150V, $10^{\circ}C$. The MD and JWB phytoplasma PCR products was mixed and electrophoresis was performed to detect their polymorphism. In this results, the SSCP profiles of all bands of MD and JWB were analyzed on single lane and were distinct in their each of band patterns. The SSCP analysis was possible to detect of 1.8 kb and 1.2 kb nucleotide size and near close band patterns were distinct by mix of two samples. Previously, it was only possible to detect of point mutation under 600 bp nucleotide sequence by SSCP analysis but this modification of SSCP technique was possible to detect clearly SSCP band patterns of about 1.8 kb and 1.2 kb nucleotides.

  • Sleep is very important physiology to our human, about one third of human life was sent over to sleep. This paper measures of sleep and proposes sleep quality and future direction in order to improve the sleep environment. Sleep measure was determined by using X2 histogram that is one of the scene change detection method. X2 histogram method is one of the statistical scene change detection and is used in many studies because of the histogram method performs better than the other. And find out their relationship by entering the degree of fatigue, alcohol, and hungry in order to develop quality of sleep and extracting to tossing and turning according to each situation.

  • Here we propose an image quality assessment (IQA) based on histogram of oriented gradients (HOG). This method makes use of the characteristic that the histogram of gradient image describes the state of input image. In the proposed method, the image quality is derived by the slope of the HOG obtained from the target image. The line representing the HOG is measured by a random sample consensus (RANSAC) on the HOG. Simulation results based on the LIVE image quality assessment database suggest that the proposed method aligns better with how the human visual system perceives image quality than several state-of-the-art IQAs.

  • Generally foundation is composed of complicated multi - layers. Primary objective of this study is to perform numerical analysis on the distribution of stresses on the subgrade with the variation of constitutive equations, the structures and the depth of layer, rigidity, loading condition, etc. Multi - layered soils has been treated as Burmister's elastic model. However, in this research it was intended to analyzed the distribution of stresses on the subgrade with all of the multi - layered soils by using the EVP(elasto - viscoplastic) model, one of the numerical program based on the Biot's equation as governing equation. The numerical results are compared with those by the Burmister's and the Fox'method, which in turn proves to be satisfactory. This research is aiming at investigating the mechanism of stress transfer within a foundation by using computer program for multilayers foundation.

  • It had been longer that the design mock-up was made mainly in order to test products. These days, it seems to be main stream that the working mockup is done because designers consider not only the design but also usability. In this study, the modular hardware toolkit, complimentary with Adobe Flash, was developed so that it solves the problem, the electronic hardware which the designers should struggle to make by themselves. This result thing could help the time of the design process to be short and contribute to make robust system rapidly.

  • According to rapid growth of a web environment, usage-centered design is being highlighted. This paper suggests the development step and algorithm to generate a user interface prototype automatically on the basis of usage-centered design. For this purpose, The transition object of the user interface is modeled from requirement analysis, and an modeling rule as well as algorithms of business events are made for the creation of the user interface. Through these processes, visual cohesions of business events become strong and unskilled designers can develop the qualified user interface prototypes. A user's understanding of business tasks can also be improved and prototype iterations reduced.

  • We describe a new representation for learning concepts that differs from the traditional decision tree and rule induction algorithms. Our algorithm PROLEARN learns one or more prototype per class and follows instance based classification with them. Prototype here differs from psychological term in that we can have more than one prototype per concept and also differs from other instance based algorithms since the prototype is a "ficticious ideal example". We show that PROLEARN is as good as the traditional machine learning algorithms but much move stable than them in an environment that has noise or changing training set, what we call 'stability’.tability’.

  • Recently, many methodologies and development environment to shorten embedded system development time and to satisfy customer requirement were proposed. In this paper, a method to shorten development time by improving cross development environment is proposed for embedded system development, This method was designed and implemented just for the environment using virtual prototyping development tools and embedded development kit. According to implementation and result analysis, the proposed method show the better performance the than existing method in the cross development environment which is required to modify more than once.
