  • The monitoring system for link travel speed using taxi probe is one of key sub-systems of ITS. Link travel speed collected by taxi probe has been widely employed for both monitoring the traffic states of urban road network and providing real-time travel time information. When sample size of taxi probe is small and link travel time is longer than a length of time interval to collect travel speed data, and in turn the missing state is inevitable. Under this missing state, link travel speed data is real-timely not collected. This missing state changes from single to multiple time intervals. Existing single interval prediction techniques can not generate multiple future states. For this reason, it is necessary to replace multiple missing states with the estimations generated by multi-interval prediction method. In this study, a multi-interval prediction method to generate the speed estimations of single and multiple future time step is introduced overcoming the shortcomings of short-term techniques. The model is developed based on Non-Parametric Regression (NPR), and outperformed single-interval prediction methods in terms of prediction accuracy in spite of multi-interval prediction scheme.

  • Facing congestion, people want to know traffic information about their routes, especially real-time link travel time (LTT). In this paper, as a sequel paper of the previous non-taxi based LTT generating study by Choi et al. (1998), taxi based GPS probes have been tried to produce LTT for urban arterials. Taxis in itself are good deployment mode of GPS probes although it by nature experiences boarding and alighting time noises which should be accounted. A heuristic real-time dynamic outlier filter algorithm for taxi GPS probe has been developed focusing on urban arterials. An actual traffic survey for dynamic link travel times has been conducted using license plate method for the test arterials of Seoul city transportation network. With the algorithm, it is estimated that 70% of outliers have been filtered and the relative error has been improved by 73.7%. The filtering algorithm developed here would be expected to be in use for other spatial sites with some calibration efforts. Some limitations and future research agenda have also been discussed.

  • It is essential that is the collection of more accurate data to provide reliable traffic information. Currently collection of traffic information which uses the taxi or the passenger car by the probe vehicle is low reliability. If it develops the model which estimates car travel-time by using bus travel-time, it means that the sheep or duality of information using the passenger car and the taxi by the probe vehicle than will improve. Consequently the research which develops to each situation in accordance withtraffic volume and bus whole aspect car execution yes or no and bus stand form.

  • This study was conducted with the aim of developing a system to collect taxi GPS probe information to prevent link defects and to improve the accuracy of the standard link-based travel speed by determining when to go into and come out the link. For this purpose, a framework and algorithm consisting of a five-step process for standard link-based map matching and individual vehicle travel speed are presented and used it to calculate the average travel speed of the service link. Two on-site surveys of Teheran and Hakdong-ro were conducted to verify the results by the methods proposed in this paper. On the basis of the overall time of the field survey, the deviation in the travel speed was 0.2 km/h and 0.6 km/h, the accuracy was 99% and 96%, and the MAPE(Mean Absolute Percentage Error) was 1% and 4% in Teheran and Hakdong-ro, respectively. These results were more accurate thand those obtained using conventional methodologies without standard links.

  • Transportation is gradually changing into the era of V2X and autonomous cars. Accurate judgement of traffic conditions is an important indicator of route choice or autonomous driving. There are many ways to use probes car such as taxis, as a way to identify accurate traffic conditions. These methods may vary depending on the characteristics of the probe vehicle, and there is a problem with the cost. The V2X vehicle can solve these problems and collect traffic information in real time. If all vehicles are of V2X vehicle, these issues are expected to be resolved briefly. However, if the communication information of a V2X vehicle is represented by a traffic representative in a traffic with only V2X, the traffic information of some V2X vehicles will be able to collect traffic information. To accomplish this, a virtual network and transport were created and various scenarios were performed through SUMO simulations. It has been analyzed that 3-5 % of V2 vehicles are capable of representative the road traffic characteristics. In the future, various follow-up studies are planned.
